  • Terrific man. Will never forget when I first visited HQ. I went to the bathroom and uncle Harry was sitting there with his door open talking to me like we were meeting at a park or something.
Yea, he was sure a simple man.
  • That's an interesting story, Penny. I may have cut a couple of people out of this edited version. But I hope I left Naomi in it.I also had to edit our your credits at the end because Vimeo is funny about that stuff. IN fact I hope they don't remove it.

Sheesh! I trust they were happy with your final product. I know he was pretty upset about the loss of his brother and Mrs W. was to. I was living at HQ when Uncle Harry died. Some of us Way Builders were given the job of digging his grave by hand. Dr. Wierwille wanted it that way. No backhoes. I never worked so hard in my life! I never knew digging a grave was so difficult. I have never seen a man cry so hard in grief as Dr. W. did over his brother. I think there was a deep bond there that was more than we know.

I think ya'll did a great job. Especially considering the technology that was available to you back then.
  • Susan and I had worked hard on this and were excited to show it to Dr. and Mrs. Wierwille. We were down in the basement of the Wierwille home and much to our surprise, when it was over Mrs. Wierwille got very upset with us. We'd never seen her so mad. She told us we just didn't understand and left the room saying, "you never even interviewed his wife." We were dumbfounded. Even Dr. Wierwille seemed startled. Then he got up and said, "She's right. You don't understand. Put Naomi in it." And, as you can see, the wonderful interview with Naomi Wierwille, was included in the final cut.
  • Thanks to Steve Burch (7th Corps) for sending me this tribute. This video was produced by Penny Boone Marchand (9th Corps) and Susan Miller (5th Corps). I had to shorten it to make it work on Vimeo. Too large for You Tube.

Among the things I like about this video were seeing some of the pictures of people, places and things and hearing the voices of some of the great people from our past.
