About Me
I am living in North Carolina after having lived in California for about 20 years. I am fortunate to still have Lyn Neal Morrison (11th) as my wife. She is sexy, beautiful, and a great believer. I have two great sons, Nick 20 and Mike 15.
My Interests
Besides trying to diligently seek God on a daily basis (I'm not trying to sound "religiously correct" here, it's just that I have found that I'm either seeking or drifting away. Since drifting away doesn't offer me much, I am trying to seek). I also am into mountain biking, a sport I just picked up in the last year (because my knees are funky). Mountain biking is an adrenaline rush. We went to the Blue Ridge Mountains three times this summer to let me race down. I only planted my face on the trail once!!!
Employment or Career
UPDATE: I presently work for the FDIC - the people who insure the banks - in an elite section called the Professional Liability Group and Financial Crimes. When a bank is closed, we go in with investigators and determine if the bank's failure was due to the negligence or fraud of the directors, officers, accountants or attorneys and if so, sue to recover the losses from the individual or their insurance. When you read about a bank failure on Saturday morning, we went in Friday night to take over the bank and get it ready to reopen by Monday morning so that depositors can get their money. We are the reason that there are not runs on the banks. We are the financial "EMTs" rushing to the scene of a badly injured bank in order to stop the injury from spreading to every other bank. It is exciting and intellectually challenging and I believe what I am doing helps keep the American economic system afloat. It is a federal agency, but it is the only one that is totally supported by no tax money.
BACKGROUND: I had a law firm in California. Early on, Bryce Shirley and I were partners, then he moved on to work for Pepsi. Later I partnered with a great believer from Puerto Rico named Manfredo Lespier (he also plays a judge on the Spanish language TV show Divorcio Court or something). I then became Chief Legal Officer for Peter Coad's company TogetherSoft located in NC. That professionally was the best time in my career. Pete is absolutely brilliant and I got to work with many great people including Judy Coad (my officemate), Randall Michek, Frank Baker, Art Poling, Gary King , Don MacMillan and others. The company was bought out in 2003 and then I became president for a time of Dale Cain's software company. I then sued NC for the right to practice law here, and the case went to the US Supreme Court. I now practice law in Raleigh doing injury cases, class action construction defect cases, and more. I also have a realtors license.
Music I Like
UPDATED: I really like country music best now: Zac Brown, Taylor Swift, Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, etc. I can see where Dr. Wierwille was trying to go with High Country Caravan.
Classic Rock (Zeplin, Lynard Skynard), Blues, and now Country Rock (Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, Willie, etc)
Books I Like
Freakonomics, detective novels, etc., but I don't like John Grisham novels about attorneys because they are SO implausible.
Television I like
Earl (reminds me of people I knew in Indiana), 2 & 1/2 Men (reminds me of people I knew in California)
Movies I like
Comedies, and some action stuff, but the last Die Hard was overboard. Come on, Bruce Willlis wrestles a jet after jumping off his moving semi-trailer
Sports Teams I like
College Sports. This place is college crazy with Duke, Carolina, Wake Forest, ECU, NC State. The pros are too polished. The kids can win any game on any particular week.

Great to hear from you. Linda sends her love (31 years of blissful marriage). We have two wonderful children, Carissa 24, graduated form college and working with the American Cancer Society in Chicago. Brian 20 is a junior at Western IL plans to go into law enforcement. God continues to bless us, as I'm sure He does with your family. Will get some mug shots posted in the near future. In His Steps- Doug
You look great, so does Lyn. Tell her hi from me. What do you mean Earl reminds you of IN people?!. You live near one of my good friends Elaine Woodlief, Vicki Allen's sister. She is in Raliegh. Keep in touch!

Yes this is pretty neat. I will call you tomorrow. Take care and God Bless.
Hi Steve! Isn't this fun stretching our memories?! Here's my story -- I remember you from my IN days... took the PFAL class in 74 with 3 of my siblings - Bradley, Jeff and Bethanne (Rick Panyard ran it for us). Older brother Bryan was already a grad, and Jimmy would take later in Indy. Was a summer Minuteman in Jeffersonville, IN in 76; college WOW at Ball State in 77; Limb Sec'y for Way of IN (Steve and Suzi Sann) in IN 77-79, then joined the 10th Corps in '79. Oh, us poor Ohioans -- always the butt of jokes in movies and TV shows :-) (the "Earl" reference - ha!) Remember "Beautiful Ohio" playing every morning at the Rock of Ages?! Thanks for writing - good to hear from you and so much fun to catch up!
P.S. One year during the ROA I got to stay in the loft of the barn above the snack shop -- you know -- across from the Wierwille resience. Anyway, I actually really LOVED waking up to "Beautiful Ohio" every morning from my bunk in the barn! Good times!
