About Me

I married Tim Hill of the 12th Corps, in the Way Corps Wedding in Emporia 1984. We accepted our first and last assignment in Savannah, GA for 3 years, then moved to Colorado for another 4 years. We settled in the Lake Tahoe area, are raising a son, Andrew ,17. Tim is the General Manager and partner of Jake's on The Lake, a waterfront restaurant.

My Interests

Sewing, cooking, music, photography, walking in Dollar Point and on the Truckee River, cycling, snowshoeing. I raised a Harlequin Great Dane puppy, named Ivy Brooke. We volunteered at the extended care hospital in Truckee. Tim and I also became foster parents with the intent of adopting a child, which, unfortunately did not work out. I have volunteered a lot for our local church and schools.

Employment or Career

I left my career as a fashion designer in Los Angeles in 1980 when I entered the 11th Way Corps. I have worked as a tailor throughout the years, and continue with personal clients and shops such as Sport's Tahoe.

Music I Like

Pretty melodic music: Baroque,Classical, Folk, Jazz . I relate more to Buffalo Springfield than the Beatles. I love Pat Metheny, James Taylor, John Mayer, Chris Botti. I enjoy watching my son Andrew perform with the North Tahoe Jazz Band. He plays Trombone.

Books I Like

I have always thought of myself as an artist type, rather than an intellectual. However, it seems I always choose books from which I can learn a thing or two. Topics: health and organic living, wardrobe and fashion. I just finished The Botany of Desire, and am currently reading The Omnivore's Dilemma, both by Michael Pollan. I highly recommend! I am also enjoying Rocco Errico's many enlightening books about Near Eastern culture. Dr. Errico worked with the late George M. Lamsa. He is wonderful to see live. Check out The Noohra Foundation.

Television I like

The Andy Griffith Show, The Guardian, The Mentalist, Tales From Avonlea, Weeds, Saving Grace, The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency.

Movies I like

Anne of Green Gables, Room With a View, Pride And Prejudice, Jane Eyre, What The Deaf Man Heard. High quality music videos like John Mayer's Where The Light Is, Live in L.A.

If you like Anne of Green Gables and Tales from Avonlee, you will like a new PBS show called "Larkrise to Candleford". It's British, but it has the same "tone". I think you would also like "As Time Goes By".
