  • Dear Robin: I just realized I never answered one of your questions. We really enjoyed F17, mostly because Rev Clapp made "the love of God" the standard. We just did one year by special invitation so my husband could graduate (he had left the 17th corps). We were in residence with F18 who were mostly very legalistic (and Rev Clapp kept EXHORTING them to love)and F19 who were mostly seasoned, loving leaders. The only F17 besides us were the Grants and the Lutz's also doing one year. THEY were awesome!! The rest of F17 were on their practicum year. All the work depts were scaled back. I worked housekeeping mostly and food services. I was on staff one block doing food services and I had every comedian with me. I laughed so hard every day my sides hurt.We all took turns doing the kids & teens. John & Joy were still there. Even Craigs teachings were good. He even had us up to HQ to hang out at his house with him and Donna and did fireworks for us. It really wasn't til 95 that things got noticably different. We stuck it out til 97 when we got thrown out. I honestly needed to be thrown out, it had become almost like an addiction.( I had been in the Way since 1971, when I was 15.) My husband would have left in 95 but didn't because he knew I needed time to see how bad it was getting. (Can you tell I found a sweetheart?!) It's a journey, I have no regrets. Darlene
  • Dear Robin: I will try to post a picture soon, if they turn out. I will be my husband and I and 3 children after my son's h.s. graduation. Jen (Jenny) is in Alaska so she wasn't in the picture. Michelle is still unmarried (picky). She is a flight attendant for United and lives in D.C. But she is thinking of volunteering to be laid off and get her masters to become a professor. Jen is my little hippie. She was in "Earth Corps" in Seattle and then in the Aleution Islands and now works on an organic farm and a Musk Ox farm. Next year she plans to move to Ireland to go to school again. My son is going to Niagara University to play baseball and My daughter Angela is 13. I am a substitute teacher at the elementary school and will be an EA for a special needs boy during summerschool. We live in Pocomoke City, MD, are we on the way to NC? Do you want to stop here? (check the map) We would be on the scenic route along the coast on the Delmarva peninsula. ( 2 hours north of Norfolk, VA) Yes I love listening to Joyce M and I get tapes from CFF and Vince Finegan. I use to listen to Jimmy Evans on TV too but they stopped his program..it was great on marriage. love Darlene Allinder
  • sounds good.... I'll look forward to keeping in touch via my email.
Too bad we didn't get in touch when Jessie was in Beloit! Milw. is only about 2 hrs. from Kaukauna.... We could have had lunch!!!:-)
Oh well, this is next to good just talking w/ you.
    Have an awesome day!!!!
  • Hey Robin!!!! Wow! Can't even believe after all of these yrs. that we can finally chat w/ each other.... What a blessing this is esp. for me to reconnect w/ you who was such an inspiration to my life! Amen to that sister!!!
Michele called me the other day and was so excited about this site. And I am so glad she let me know about it also. It's been great to go to the members site and read the names of friends I thought I would never have been in contact w/ again. I'm jazzed!
Michele says you're doing great and that Amy got married. Would love to see a couple of those pix..... I'm sure the girls are as beautiful as their Mom :-)
John and I are doing great and have 3 great kids. Yup, that's us at Jonathan's 21st b-day party. We will soon be empty nesters as Kelly, 20, will be transferring to UW Eau Claire for her Jr. yr. and Jessi, 18 will be graduating on the 8th and also heading to Eau Claire. Jonathan works at Peirce where the fire trucks are made in Menasha, WI. He's not too far from home so we get to see him when he wants to head home for a good, home-cooked meal. Altho', he is a great cook himself. Kelly will be a nanny in the Twin Cities of MN for the summer. And Jessi has taken on her mother's skill of waitressing.... boy, did Chris and I have some fun times waiting tables together. Crazy times! All in all, good memories flood my heart of the Portland days..... Well, my friend, I'm off but look forward to hearing from you....
    Love you bunches
  • Robin,
Thank you for your note. I appreciate your prayers. My sister was a wonderful lady and an awesome believer. She will be sorely missed. I am glad I'll see her smiling face when Christ returns.

We like it here and the fellowship here is the best. So many corps and mature believers to fellowship with. I told Bonnie that you joined and she told me a little of your lead experience. What a hoot.. Our time with you all was very special and we have lots of good memories. Glad all is well and if you ever come this way please look us up we would love to see you. Peggy
