  • P.S. We spoke last when Ardie and Ben were still alive at the farm. Peter was building a veg. stand......or something like that and painting a barbeque grill the day I spoke with him....(2004) Donna
  • Billy,
What can I do to have to email me at: donnawalter@rocketmail.com. I would really like to hear from you and be your friend once more. Donna
  • Rest in peace our friend and brother

  • Billy in case those links are removed, here they are preserved on my site in a PDF document in case anyone wants it.

Still looking for pictures of Peter.

  • John, Here is a face shot...from a 1974 group shot...left to right...Pete Woolley, Ian Murphy, David Turk. I have an old photo from the early eighties somewhere that I have been searching for as well. If I find it I will post it too. Pete had a HUGE smile...and he grinned easily. ---Michelle
  • John; jessie has posted a bunch on her facebook. she is in Mass. for a memorial this weekend. I will call her tomorrow and ask her to send one to you on e-mail. that should work...thanks so much...he was one of the best.
  • Man that is a tragic loss of a good man. Our condolences to the family.

I did not know him but apparently many on here did and had good memories of him. Life is so short we need to make the most of it on our short time here on earth. I am glad he had 60 years to enjoy. Should have been more.

Billy do you or Elaine or anyone have a picture of our beloved Peter? I would like to post it if possible.
  • Pete and Donna were so much of my early memories at ECU. Watching them interact with Jessica made me want to have a family one day that could grow in the Word. Pete's "Cheshire Cat grin" was infectious. I remember he used to love to bake bread and just walked the Word with humor and kindness. One time we were going to HQ on a marathon drive from Greenville and I woke up in the middle of the night with Pete having his head out the window yelling at the top of his lungs to stay awake!!! It was Pete's presence at the Momentus training that I went to in '96 that made me feel safe enough to trust the process. I will not forget this gentle, loving man of God. Many prayers and much love to the family.

  • Well said, Billy. My condolences to you, as I know how sweet and deep your long term "bromance" with Pete was.
I do not comment on much here and keep a pretty low profile for the most part, as I am really just a guest here. But your posting beckons me to pay some sort of tribute in writing to Peter
Pete led my PFAL class back in 1973 when he and his then wife, Donna (Walter), were the young dynamic couple who worked tirelessly running the branch of The Way of North Carolina in Greenville. PFAL classes ran constantly, there were huge coffee houses every week, and powerful Sunday services. The beautiful Woolley family were at the heart of this very happening hotbed of believers growing and living God's Word together. Man, we had a lot of fun!
No matter what state we all find ourselves in today...when communicating we STILL speak in terms identifying ourselves with referencing when we first took PFAL, what Corps we were in, what year we were WOW, etc...
These are all turning points in our lives...just like other life references...when we graduated, when we married, when we had our children, etc...
So, Pete is a part of one of my turning points. He was there with his hands on my shoulders when I first spoke in tongues.
And for years after would pass in and out of my life... picking up easily where we left off...and he, always caring for me in very kind and brotherly ways. (We saw the movie "E.T." together and he cried more than I did! ---all these memories flooding me now!)
Pete dynamically ran so many of the functions in those early days of ECU. He did an awesome job. It was quite electric.
There are so many people whose roots are from those days at East Carolina University. And from there folks would go on to...become WOW's, enter the Way Corps, move to new areas and touch the lives of others...and it just goes on and on how many people grew from that area that he nurtured and cared for in his season there.
Peter was a great man of God and served Him well. He was a great brother to many. And so much fun. He also struggled at times as we all do, and like the rest of us, would have to work on "getting back up on the horse".
His tragic passing is shocking and causes me to think how precious our lives are...and are time together.
Our last conversation (that was too long ago) was full of laughter...I am glad to have had that.
I wish someone was here so that we could have a few shots of something and tell funny Pete Woolley stories.
You are correct in your statement Billy, and I can testify that his love, his compassion and his hardy (and very silly) laugh was a gift to me.
