Ric Cox commented on John Richeson's video
"Gary, you're right.  I had a country band for about 6 years and felt my main job was to keep everyone turning down their amp.  I've never heard anyone tell even the best bands to turn up.  "

Ric Cox replied to John Richeson's discussion In Loving Memory of Ted Ferrell
"I am thankful to have observed this great entertainer.  Ted was a soft-hearted man with a huge heart to give. I once sent him an email requesting some songs from Way Productions.  He sent me all the Joyful Noise songs in a CD format.  I called him…"

"I was raised in Corpus Christi.  It's actually the only city named for the body of Christ.  Texas is a great place.  I've lived all over the U.S. and always knew I would come back here.  There's simply something I like about the wide open spaces.…"

"Matt,
I agree with you.  The bond between some of us was like none other.  Recently, I went to Denver to visit my son with a Corps brother that wanted to visit a believer.  It was quite a road trip.  The believer had a car accident and had no car.…"

I was so hungry when I went in the 10th Corps that nothing else mattered. The bond I had with some of my Corps brothers and sisters at the tem was so much deeper than anything I ever had with my earthly family.  It meant so much to me to be…"

  • Yeah, Anchorage is a great place. Bismark is probably colder than we are here, but we have LOTS to do and the winter passes (I can't say quickly, because it lasts about 7-8 months). Now you don't have to worry about that in San Antonio. I used to live in Houston in the 70s, but I was just as happy in CA after that. Great to talk to you!

  • I think you are confusing me with my brother. He was the mean bass player. But I do remember you from 3rd block at Gunnison in the 14th Corps first year. I played a little bit of piano there. Good to hear from you. Thanks for the modern day smoke signal!
  • Hey Ric! Great to hear from you after all these years. Yes, were in the same LEAD group. I remember you saying that while sitting in a cafe after your SOLO on LEAD 21 (hitching back to Emporia?) that you could actually hear a glass falling before it fell. Dude, I thought you were so deep! Anyway, all is well here and life marches along. Glad to read that you have survived medical issues so well! You are obviously still tough and still a good guy. San Antonio is one of my favorite cities in Texas. I grew up in Lubbock and thought San Antonio was Shangra La or something. Great to reconnect, Richard. Take Care Bro!
  • Ric! Soooo good to hear from you! Wow...you look great strummin' that guitar - especially after all you have been through. What a journey you have been on. I am so glad to be in touch and if I pass through San Antonio, I'll give a call. I remember you as really friendly and a very nice guy. I will keep your good health in my heart and prayers.
    Take good care,
    Rosanne
  • Hi Ric!
Yes I went home and have stayed. I do not see any of the old wayfers here anymore, (not that they arent around, I just have no interest). Last I heard the Nickersons went to Vegas. Dave had become intensly unpopular both within Way folks and in the secular world so they moved to try and start over. The last time I saw any of the Way folks was at my mother's funeral in 2001. I had no interest then and still have no interest in hanging out with any of them. Not to say anything negative about them I just have nothing but "the Way" in commmon with any of them.

I just came back from vacation in Texas, to have a big BBQ with many other exwayfers. It was a blast! If I go back next year I can give you a call and have some coffee or something.

    Take care bro!
  • You have some talent. Now if you could do this with another group and charge a monthly fee, I would want in. :))
  • Thanks for the comment, Ric. Yeah, I am a little surprised by the popularity of this site. I threw this together one Saturday when I had some time on my hands (a rare thing) and invited a few good friends. I thought maybe 50 people or so would partake.

I think it helps that we are all keeping it neutral for all to participate regardless of their past or present and regardless of our varying belief systems. Sort of like "What Happens (happened) in Vegas stays in Vegas." Ha, ha,

Anyway glad you are enjoying it as I am and I hope it continues to grow. It truly is great to see so many awesome people again. The more the merrier!

PS - I like your profile. It is a real victory story.
  • Ric, thank YOU so much. you just made my day.

Yes, I was on staff at emporia my interim year which was your first year.

I read your profile and you are in my heart and prayers.

    Love,
    Eileen

  • Hey Ric! What a great blast from the past! I can 't believe how many great folks have contacted me. It is wonderful to connect with family again. San Antonio is beautiful. I traveled there twice on business when I was the gift buyer for the University of Virginia Book Store. I love the River Walk!! I now live in West Virginia with my husband of 4years. I am a sales rep for some gift lines and travel most of WV, some of KY, VA, and OH. I admire you for the way you handled your adversity but I always remember that you had a great sense of humor and a great love for GOD. Take carefor now. God Bless,
