New Ownership and Management of The Way Corps Site

This was sent to all members of The Way Corps Site:

In 2007 John Richeson began the Way Corps Site and has since handled its oversight, design and costs. Recently John felt it was time to either close the site or let others continue it if there was an interest. With his current time constraints, he has not been able to dedicate adequate time to the site as he would like.

With this announcement came a groundswell of input from among the over 1700 members to “please keep the site going”. Others said, “there is no other site like this” that preserves some of the rich experiences we had during this time in our lives. (Certainly, The Way International will never do it as they consider most of us “cop outs”.)

We are pleased to announce that myself, Anthony Gilmore, Phyllis Tryon and others yet undetermined are assuming ownership and management of The Way Corps Site. John is also going to help and consult with us as needed. Like others, we are pleased that this unique site is continuing. John is to be commended for all the work he has put into it over the years. His format succeeded in bringing together a diverse group from all walks of life.

To be sure, the Way Corps experience was not pleasant for some.  As John stated in his opening letter in 2007 "...it also included some pain and sorrow. As someone stated, it was the best of times and it was the worst of times’. But it was not all in vain. I believe a great number of people were helped by our years of service in communities throughout the world.” To ignore the bad would be to marginalize the mistreatment and abuse that some certainly suffered. We are aware of these facts and highly condemn those who were responsible regardless of their position of power.

That being said, this site is not designed to focus on those issues. There are already other helpful sites that are focused on them. A simple google search will provide ample information. The overwhelming majority here want something different along the lines of a social lighthearted environment as John has attempted to create from the beginning. We have all changed and life has taken us in many directions, but the one thing we have in common is that we were all in the Way Corps program.

We would love to hear from you! We have a few ideas for some additional content but would love to hear yours. This could range from business connections to prayer connections to music to links to ministries, churches or other sites of interest. Some are finding ways to link some of the content here to their Facebook pages.

I look forward to meeting and collaborating with many of you as we move forward. Like many of you, we are busy with life so it may take some time to familiarize ourselves with the layout and implement new things. Meanwhile, it is nice to see so many names and faces on the site. Please contact us as needed.

Sincerely,

Steve Sann - 4th Corps
Anthony Gilmore - 8th Corps
Phyllis Tryon - 11th Corps

  • Hi Sandra. Go to your SETTINGS at the top right under your name and you can do those things and more. What's more, it works for male and female and all those in between. LOL. Here is a video.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
  • Thanks John! Yes it can be transferred to other media and I have been hearing for a while that some has been. But have not found anything I could obtain, digitally or otherwise. Have done a good bit of searching online. So would be grateful for anything that you or others can share about where to find any of that music. Or if someone who has some of the old Way music would be willing to transfer it to a medium that they can then share, that would be wonderful and so much appreciated!

  • Thanks to all of you who have determined to take on these responsibilities.
I believe that there will be encouragement, there will be renewal, there will be strengthening because of your efforts.
I'm thankful to have been and to be a part of it.
If any assistance is needed, please let it be known.
As you know, there is nothing like this space; and I think it's needed.

    • Update June 2023 - I no longer support this site and disagree with its current religious and political tone, both of which seem to have melded together into similar current rhetoric we are bombarded with on television, news, and social media constantly. My alternative comments to some posts were deleted by the moderator without notice to me. I've been warned that "We only want to talk about things we were taught in PFAL and that which we were taught in The Way Corps."

Since I don't care for religion or politics or most social media, I want to make my non-support clear. I've also removed most of my content and links which were hosted on richeson.org. But I have backup copies.

However, I also want to be clear that I do support the current site owner's right to do whatever he wants with The Way Corps Site. I have nothing to do with it anymore. In case anybody wants to call or text me (813) 404-9795. Thank you.

  • So glad this is happening! A big "thank you" to all who have stepped up to keep the site going! Regarding what you asked about, I would LOVE to be able to find recordings from old Way albums and groups. Joyful Noise, Pressed Down, and especially Takit.

    • All of those songs are out there in digital format. It's a matter of finding them. Old CD's and even LP's can be "ripped" into digital content such as MP3's. For example, I know all of Good Seed's material was transferred professionally into CD's and MP3's.

Same with old ministry VHS tapes such as "Rock of Ages 1972". They can be transferred to DVD or file or both. Some have already been transferred professionally.

  • Thank you Steve. I would like to correct my page and add pic. I am female. How do i do that?
  • I administered this site for 10 years so I know a little about the NING platform. It's got many features that FaceBook doesn't have and probably never will. But Facebook has 2 billion members and they are not going away or turning into MySpace trust me! They are a cash machine and also own Instagram, What's App and Oculus Rift to name a few. In fact I would recommend buying their stock. They are an advertising company and boy are they good at that part!

However, there is something about a private group site like this that absolutely CAN'T be duplicated on Facebook. Believe me, I tried. Facebook Groups suck in comparison to the rich features here. But Facebook is free so...there's that.

Yes, everybody is on Facebook but it is a different experience than here. In my opinion that's due to the "noise" and advertising and limited features. In fact I left Facebook 2 years ago. It was not easy. Kind of like quitting smoking. I needed a break from it all and had too many "friends" who aren't friends.

I'll probably go back on Facebook in 2018 due to my large family and I need to create a business page. But somehow I am not looking forward to going back.

  • Thank you. This site is a blessing.  It has put us in touch with so many people we never wanted to lose.

  • I agree about the music, Vicki. It was a great feature. We could upload our own songs on our own music player on our own page and also there was also a general music player on the main page where some of the ministry music from many artists and groups was added.

We plan to add the Music Players back in the near future.
