About Me
I took the Power for Abundant Living class when I was a junior in college at St. Lawrence University. I went W.O.W. in 1978-79 and saw many signs, wonders and miracles. Jim Shaw was the family coordinator. I entered the Way Corps in 1981 and served as a fellowship coordinator in Evansville Indiana from 1984-1987. Fred and Veronica Deats of the family corps were the city coordinators during those years. In 1987 Vanessa and I were married by Reverend Greg English, and we moved to California. Vanessa and I have five children. All five speak in tongues, interpret, and know their sonship rights. We run fellowship from our home once a week and on Sundays.
My Interests
I've been teaching junior high school and high school English for twenty years. I have a Masters of Science in Education with an emphasis on online education. I’ve been teaching one or two online courses for the last seven years.
I hope to produce a biblical research work about the idiomatic and figurative uses of "name" in the Old Testament soon. I'd like to do a companion work for the New as part of a study of the uses of holy spirit in the Old and New Testament.
I’m also interested in screenwriting. I’m interested in telling the story of the later Roman Empire and Constantine the Great in the language of Tolkien’s "Lord of the Rings." I think it would be fun to capture the minds of young people with historic truth disguised as fantasy.
Employment or Career
I've been teaching junior high school and high school English for twenty years.
I've also been writing about the Bible for a number of years. I’ve produced a book about the worship manifestations of the spirit called, “In the Church, Prophecy is = S.I.T. + Interpretation.” I’ve also done a web site that documents a great number of the uses of LORD (as opposed to Lord) in the New Testament. I've listed a couple of the websites with more information below.
Music I Like
I like the old Way Ministry stuff still. I'll listen to jazz a little and to classical.
Books I Like
I read Michael Crichton’s "State of Fear" not long ago. It's a good read and makes a pretty good case for the irresponsibility found among some in the scientific community with regards to climate change.
I've also enjoyed the writings of Reverend Sangat Baines lately. Sangat talks very clearly about how to act on the things we know are very true from the Bible.
Television I like
There is no TV except CSI and its cousins. It's OK once in a while. Actually, "the War" is a pretty cool documentary about WWII.
Movies I like
We all liked Star Wars and LOR. Vanessa and the kids loved Shrek. If you are a fan of Beowulf (Sorry for the geekiness: I teach English -- OK ), you might get a kick out of "The Thirteenth Warrior" which is based on Crichton's "The Eaters of Men." His book was what he imagined might have been the historic sequence of events that, in turn, might have given rise to the great Anglo-Saxon seemingly Christian epic.
Sports Teams I like
I’m a card carrying member of Steeler Nation, and, as first generation Dodger fans, we feel a little sympathy for the Yankess for losing Joe Torre, but not much.
Comments
It's been awhile since we last wrote each other. How's teaching going this year? I wanted to let you know that my friend Ken Cohen (one of our fellowship people) did get his book published. Title is The Infiltration of Error in the Church. It's easy reading and will make people think.
Love to you and yours,
Susan
I believe what I believe because of the scriptures of truth. James 3:10-17... It seemed like you were being a little like that double-minded fountain is all. No chance of a true friendship there.
I won't argue with folks about God's word anymore, but if you have learned something that has blessed you, you are welcome to let me know.
Peace.
While it is my objective belief that the Way is a Cult, it doesn't mean I believe that all the people were evil in the Way; it doesn't negate the friends that I remember, the brotherhood shared amongst us all.
I don't know what you believe now or not. If you accept everything as was given to us by the Way or not. Yet, even if you still hold all the Way taught you, as I once did, I would still reachout to you as a brother and wish to be your friend.
Peace be with you;
Joe
Dn, or DCN. is an abbreviation for Deacon.
Peace,
Joe
I've got to fix this pic. It's pixels are too small (It's also six years old). Dn = deacon? Hey cool story... Colleen 9th Corps (Mahoney?) prayed for me - ministered gifts of healings on the Lord's behalf for wisdom teeth the first month in residence. I figured (probably incorrectly) that I had no dental. I knew I didn't have two hundred and fifty bucks for a damn dentist. We both said Amen, and figured, together, honestly, cool stop gap till the money came. I went to the dentist today for the first time in 25 years (seriously) -- five kids later... no cavities! Cool dentist... took 25 (at least) years of plack off with barely a single request for a confession! Of course, she'd marked me like Ol Doc marked the one town alkie... She'd cleaned teeth on all five kids and one wonderful wife over the last, heck, 18 years... Not a cavity... a hell of alot of plack... It must have been like restoring a 1956 Chevy convertible... Anyhow, those wisdom teeth... They must have come in twenty years ago... Do you want to know why I went to a dentist after 25 years? I thought one of the damn things were still impacted! Oh, I reckon we're made of dust but the redeemed of heaven...
Oh, one thing about my Way Corps pic... There is not a PFAL promise I've recanted in almost 30 years. Why? Not for a failure of erudite discussion and a deaf ear to the higher critics. Nope... it's cause John 1:1-3 is still true...
Lov ya dude,
Ren
By the way, you look as you did when I saw you last..not old and grey like me. :)
Keep In touch! Love ya Bro,
Good to see you,and I hope you are well. You are a good man, I always saw a great heart in you.
God Bless,
Joe Pasquella
The Christ in us is light wherever we go, walking in love it is ever manifest! God's Word never goes out empy. I am so thankful for those who have never stopped speaking forth its love and light.
It is wonderful that you have been blessed so big with a solid marriage and 5 children! I can see by your writing that you have a huge heart to reach the young both in writing and spoken word. May our Father continue to open great doors for you. Continue looking forward to Christs return! Continue in the good works (ergon) being a light and may Father's amazing grace be foremost in your heart.
Ephesians 2:4-10!
