About Me
I have been blessed to have enjoyed a rich and wonderfully diverse life with a variety of focal points, some of which start with the letter "P." I have been a PHARMACIST, POET, PROFESSOR, PASTOR, and PUBLISHER, among a number of other careers.
My Interests
My passion for the Word of God burns more intensely than ever. I continue to write and teach. I have traveled to Dakar, Senegal and Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, where I made some most satisfying connections with fellow believers. From September, 2007 to June, 2008 I served as Dean of Middle School at Sonshine Christian Academy in Columbus, Ohio, where I also taught 7th and 8th grade science and 6th and 8th grade language arts. Without a doubt it was the most challenging year of my more than 25 years in academe. Within a week at the end of the school year, I was on a two-week short term mission trip in Los Cabos, Mexico where I ministered at a bilingual Christian school. While there, the entire previous year made sense, as I recognized that all things work together for the good, to those who love God to those who are the called according to His purpose.
"Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good."
Employment or Career
During my stint as a draftee in the US Army in 1967, in the thick of the Viet Nam conflict, I was not only introduced to The Way International but I also experienced the joys of classroom teaching when I taught pharmacy technicians at the Medical Field Service School in San Antonio, TX. Nine years later as an adjunct instructor at The Way College of Emporia, I taught New Testament History among other courses which gave me a taste of teaching on the collegiate level, and after earning my doctorate in English, I have continued to teach on the university level for more than thirty years. Here is a link to an article published in the National Education Association Journal in which I discuss my journey into academe via a most intriguing route.

Music I Like
I enjoy all kinds of music, from opera to jazz and blues, not to mention gospel and contemporary praise and worship. I even like Country Music, in small doses, however. I like it all. Indeed, as the Poet (C'est Moi) says:
"All music seems to mirror me,
Express all of my innermost hopes and joys.
My soulful melancholody
ennobled by the rich chords' counterpoise."
Books I Like
Aside from the Bible, which still brings me untold joy, particularly the Psalms, I enjoy reading, teaching, researching and writing in the area of African American literature. One of the most moving book I have ever read is a novel by Ernest J. Gaines, A LESSON BEFORE DYING. Another work which had a similar kind of profoud impact upon me was WILD AT HEART by John Eldredge whose non-fiction work had a similar theme as the novel by Gaines. Unfortunately I don't have as much opportunity to read for pleasure as I would like, but I still love to read.
Television I like
I seldom watch television.
Movies I like
Movies that I have particularly enjoyed were The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe" along with "Akeelah and the Bee", one of my all-time favorites. There was a HBO version of "A Lesson Before Dying" which was disappointing in light of how moving the novel was.
Sports Teams I like
I'm not into sports to that degree that I have favorite teams. I enjoy watching basketball and other team sports, especially OSU and some of the other Big Ten Schools.

Our best to you and yours! Thanks again for sharing with us.
Thanks for dropping me a note and remembering me.
Your faithful fulfillment of your ministry will always be a comfort and a blessing to me.
The way you handled my heart during my first FILM class in Feb. of 1974 in Hyattsville, Md. I will never forget.
You just calmly and wisely led my attention back to the material of the class and ministered peace to my soul.
I was coming out of the Roman Catholic Cult and needed the wise and steady hand of a Pastor.
And you were there for me.
I won't forget you for that.
May God continue to bless your ministry and give you peace and victory as you minister to His people.
BTW,
I also read John Eldredge's book Wild at Heart. That was good.
I am still living here in the Wash. DC area with my faithful wife of 28 years and my loving son Stephen of 20.
We are learning the how's and wherefore's of deliverance, physical and spiritual, through a miriad of sources and rejoice that God continues to bare His arm for his people.
I am reading currently all of Frank Hammond's works. (Pigs in the Parlor)
God's favor and blessing upon you and your household.
-David Jerome-
I was married to Mark Pavlica, (Frank's brother) and we entered the 11th Way Corps back in 1980. Mark often talked about the early days when you and Brenda were guiding the fellowships in the DC/Balto. area. Unfortunately, Mark changed in a negative way and ended in divorce. But, on the bright side, I continued to get my healing from the Father and in a few years time, I decided to go Wow in Clearwater, Fl, which was definitely one of the greatest years of my life.
I will check out your writing about your journey. Again, thank you for taking the time to write to me. I don't believe we have ever met but we will one day.
Susan
You have done a great work in this Celebration in Poetry just as God has done a great work in you.
Keep the faith.
Love, Steven E. Lowder

It should work from any internet connected computer. It is a PDF file so he will need at the very least the free Adobe Reader program which can be downloaded from thousands of places. YOu can not read the PDF without the tools (reader) that allows you to do so.
Another thing...I suppose you could have him come to this site and either join as a new member or simply log in with your user name and password. Then he can go to your blog and see your comments and those of others. LEt me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks for your note and remembrance. Sadly there are not too many of us left, such in the journey of life. You and Brenda will always be near and dear to our hearts. We are finally moving back to California, Cathi's home state. We will be in Paso Robles, CA who knows maybe there is a church just waiting for revival. Our journey continues and our joy abounds..
Love to you and your family,
Duke
Looking forward to delving into your celebratory blog when I have some quiet time. I wanted to comment back, though, that I have from time to time this Spring and Summer been enjoying Stone Upon Stone, which you sent me last year. I also have a marvelous interpretation of the 23rd Psalm that I've been meaning to send you. I'm presently traveling (in southern DE), but will be able to get to that when I get home.
Ordination might be thought of as a "special sacrament." Beyond "the new birth," at such a point to where we commence ministry... not merely a child, prepared to gratefully and joyfully accept the blessings of the Father, but ready to carry on the Father's business, serving others as we ourselves have been served.
You have certainly been that to me... not as a dry, wooded seminary graduate with a job, but as an ordained and equipped believer, an ambassador strong and wise, who teaches because he loves the teacher's task, and finds his richest prize in eyes that open and in minds that ask.
I first met you under the apple trees, setting chairs... something which has become a cliché, I'm afraid, but you were the real deal. Always have been, to me.
The journey continues, as you said, for all of us. How grateful I am that we are shipmates on His Majesty's Fellowship. The Lord bless you and keep you, my brother!
With Admiration and Thanksgiving for your life of service,
George
