Help Wanted, No Experience Required?

There is an old quiz about, “Who do you think would make the best president?”It goes like this: Candidate one is a known womanizer, smokes and drinks at least five martinis a day. Candidate two is constantly in debt, drinks a pint of Brandy before he goes to bed at night and was expelled from school for cheating on exams. Oh yes, and he smokes cigars constantly. Candidate three is a military veteran, is very health conscious, does not smoke, exercises regularly, is very patriotic and is a one-woman man.Of the three who would be best suited to be president? In deciding on a president or any public servant character matters, personal responsibility matters, what one does in their private life does matter. When it comes to public service ability, experience and wisdom matter as well. I have heard it said that the American public wants a president that they would like to have a beer or dinner with. I find this laughable if not utterly absurd. I want a president who is too smart to have a beer or dinner with me, someone who, for lack of a better word, is better than me. Likeability is an overrated virtue. I don’t want to like the president, I want to respect their ability to think rationally, understand the situation of domestic and foreign affairs, execute the office with wisdom and to govern with all Americans in mind rather than one party or another. In other words, someone who is up for the job! We live in a time where learning on the job is a luxury we can ill afford! No one in their right mind goes to an auto mechanic for open heart surgery. No matter how affable, the mechanic’s ability with a torque wrench will not translate into a successful heart transplant.Presidents are people and as anyone who has a brain in their head knows, people are flawed. Any doubts look in the mirror. We tell our kids that anyone can grow up to be president. While that may be true in theory, out of the millions and millions who have lived and died in our republic only 43 of our citizens have held office of president. Of the 43 we have had good ones, bad ones, mean ones, lazy ones, imperialist, populist, crooks and more than a few liars, and all in all the country has survived. However, our nation’s current situation looks as dire as I can ever remember and yet there is always hope. Perhaps not in politicians but in the American people. It is said and perhaps true that all of us are smarter than any of us.In these turbulent times we need more than a drinking buddy or a dinner guest. So, when we hang out the help wanted sign at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave we need to focus on ability and not likeability, expertise and not single issues and pray we the people choose wisely.Oh, as for the three candidates above, the first was Franklin D. Roosevelt, the second was Winston Churchill and the third was Adolph Hitler. Who got your vote?

I had 12 Brothers and Sisters Growing Up

The older I get the more amazing I realize my upbringing was. I was one of 12 children, eight boys and four girls. I was number five. I am not sure how my parents managed but they did and for the most part we were very happy. We were raised in a rural community you have never heard of, trust.me. Let's just say Stanley, Kentucky was much smaller than New Knoxville ,Ohio. We were not in poverty even though my Dad was a common working man, a carpenter like Jesus, who always worked construction his whole life. We never had much but we were always well fed, nicely clothed and had a few toys. Best of all we had constant playmates.....lots of them. The fun and laughter was non stop. My Mom was 17 and my Dad was 20 when they got married. They were happily married for over 50 years before my Mom passed away. By the time this picture was taken there were 11 children all living under one roof. (My youngest brother was born the following year.). At this time my parents were ages 36 & 33! Yes, what is amazing is that my parents had 12 children in less than 15 years! 11Children1962Arrow.jpg We had tremendous fun as kids. We faced difficult challenges as adults. But we always had each other. Because of that unique upbringing we are all very close today. I am glad to have these wild and wonderful brothers and sisters to grow old together with. It is almost unheard of today. Here we are in 2000 (my Mom has passed and I lost two brothers in their teen years) 11Richeson's2000.jpg

PrefaceAromatherapy and essential oils books have been written from many points of view. The Sweet Smell of Success is a very different approach to aromatherapy. As an acute care anesthesiologist, I believe clinical aromatherapy should be integrated with allopathic medicine in the Wellness Revolution of the 21st Century. Aromatherapy with essential oils is one entity of the vast array of holistic specialties comprising nutritional medicine and complementary alternative medicine. Nutritional medicine with essential oils has great potential to enhance and humanize healthcare when practiced with what is often considered as conventional medicine. Although aromatherapy is not appreciated by many physicians and is often misrepresented to the public, there are tremendous advantages to be gained in its diverse applications. Scientific studies have shown aromatherapy to be effective for a wide variety of medical diagnoses. This information will be presented in “The Sweet Smell of Success” along with exciting new discoveries, products, techniques and keys that serve to promote wellness through nature as a mentoring and teaching tool for network marketing distributors. These revealing secrets, which pertain to both your health and your wealth, will revolutionize your life. The natural nutritional foods, the essential oils and the berry fruit juices are key dietary elements which play a significant role in the quest for true physical, emotional and spiritual wellness. The “healthy energy” found in these superior functional foods is astounding. Incorporating these powerful building block foods into your life will help to abundantly meet your basic nutritional needs. And as these foods are balanced with mentally and physically stimulating exercises, you will attract all the good health that you deserve. This represents a tremendous shift in thought process for most people. However, better health created by supplementation with natural nutritional medicine products is a worthy goal and as your life improves, you can help others by increasing their awareness of the health and wealth secrets found in the nutritional supplements of the wellness revolution.Awareness and concern for the health of the people of our country and all the nations of the world is increasingly shared by growing numbers of medical, health care workers, professionals, celebrities and even politicians. The obesity epidemic, for example, is affecting many more children with each passing day. Overweight children today are much more likely to become morbidly obese adults. It is possible in the future that some obese children will die before their own parents! A generation of premature deaths is a sad and unacceptable result whether from obesity or starvation. The obesity and starvation dilemmas of our time will grow to crisis proportions sooner rather than later unless there is intervention. Awareness of these problems is the critical first step to circumvent the predictable progression of illness, disability and death due to whichever malnourished state.Another major concern for our society is aging. Aging increases requirements for the essential nutritional elements that function as antioxidants which the body needs to use as the critical building blocks for the formation of free radical scavengers and the energy required for effective metabolism. Over time, our bodies can become progressively deficient in vital ingredients unless supplemented due to poor eating habits. While many foods are plentiful and cheap, that does not make them healthy. Many have been seduced into the fast and processed foods of our culture. Instead make a conscious choice to eat food which is natural and good for you.Dietary supplementation with the new superior functional foods like nature’s essential oils and berry fruit juices will improve your life, and soon you will wonder how you functioned without them. Essential oils are classified as foods by the FDA. The essential oils and juices from plants have amazing properties and the science to substantiate their benefits, for example the reduction of minor aches or the major inflammatory pains due to arthritis. The basic data to prove numerous clinical principles is readily available. References are included in this book to encourage the further networking of important and substantial research.Every day entrepreneurs invite you to consume innovative new products of the wellness revolution. Companies manufacture life-enhancing products that taste great and are of superior value and quality. Several suggestions by the oilMD® for products and business development are included to increase your health and wealth prospects. These new products are so convenient and powerful that they could change your quality of life and life expectancy significantly.Medicine is becoming increasingly miniaturized, digitized and computerized. Gene therapy, microendoscopic robotics and robotic surgery are vastly different from aromatherapy, and yet they can be combined to enhance the overall benefits of practically any therapy, traditional or modern for patients. Conditions caused by continued poor diet and overall failing condition of general health increase the urgency to integrate nutritional medicine and complementary alterative medicine (CAM) into acute and chronic care hospitals as well as the numerous varieties of clinical and therapeutic spa settings. And God said, “Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat:” and it was so. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.”— Genesis 1:29-31God knows what is good and ideal. He created the plants, including their fruits, juices and the essential oils they yield. Concentrated health-oriented natural products of the wellness revolution, such as essential oils, as well as wild-crafted and organic foods, and the natural juices from fruits and berries, have been put on earth for us by God. He expects us to use them for our benefit. It is time to apply all the good that is available to give us the good health God intends for us to have.James “Tad” GeigerThe oilMD®Promoting Wellness through Nature

Lily Gets Dreads

I have just had a fun education I thought I'd share. My daughter Lily is 15 years old and wanted dreadlocks. Actually, I suggested she dread her hair because it seemed so in step with her bohemian, creative personality--and because, unlike other teenage girls, she doesn't brush her hair. It's fine and snarly, and after four or five days of rock climbing, running and sleeping in the tangles, it becomes a big monster dread at the back of her head anyway. So as my manner is, I got into the research. I went online and started reading and watching videos on the how-to and the maintenance. Then we ordered supplies and got started. It is not a lazy hairstyle, at least in the beginning. They said it was a lengthy process but I had no idea. Lily wanted thin dreads, which means lots of them, and they're long. Mucho backcombing for me. The photo of the sectioned hair is my initial attempt--I had to redo it in sections about a fourth that size. We could not stand a nonstop dread-a-thon so we've been at it for almost two weeks and there's still a section at the back to be done. Then it will take time, rubbing and waxing for the dreads to "lock". But it is fabulous on her, I must say, and turns heads in the grocery stores in small-town New Hampshire (not sure that's good thing?). I've posted some pictures of my daughter's head undergoing the transformation--sorry they're not in order. When I retire to Puerto Rico to write my novels, maybe I'll have me some grey dreads. For now I have to live vicariously.

I suspect that for those of us with a yearning for knowledge (or should I say truth) will eventually find that honest questions strip dogma of its lovely veneer.Sometimes I strain to find a way to live honestly in a complex would. A world filled with moral ambiguities and ethical certitudes based on false postulation. This is the juncture where revelation meets revision meets conveniences; here truth is crushed into the dust of conformity. There is no warning! Our very minds become pariahs and ours hearts like Tamil Tigers explode with confusion.Clues in the fire, in the ashes? It is good every half century or so to examine why we think the way we think; why is it we see so much and understand so little?Yes, smack the curtain; see if the man is there. Look beyond the great cosmos above the waters that separate the waters; is the great God and His son there as well as here?It is said that when we stare into the abyss that the abyss stares back at us, nature abhors a vacuum, so then must God. Therefore we look within and without to judge by proof not tradition what and who is God and His son? I am at once sure and yet without full knowledge that I am right.

An apology and a timeline

As I read through these pages, and see many, many names and faces, some leap out with wonderful memories of people's love and compassion. Some touch on a sad part of my heart where while there is no regret there is remorse (while being aware of God's great forgiveness through Jesus Christ) of things I said and did that I know hurt others. And sadly, some faces and names have a faint chord but no recollection; and yet I feel as though I should know who you are.So I thought I would post this blog for two purposes. First, for an all encompassing invitation to reconnect if our paths crossed and you so desire to do so. With the caveat that if I caused you hurt or pain along your journey I ask for your forgiveness. I can say I face my life no without regret. The healing is not finished, and won't be until I am made perfect in Christ, but I understand that in our zeal to be right we sometimes got it wrong. And that since God looks on the heart and we have an intecessor in Jesus, I know that I am who I am because of the sum of my experiences and who God made me to be. As the wise man said, what doesn't kill you will get you later! The other thought I had was to provide a chronology of my Way Life. It may help others who have seen my name or face but cannot make the connection (just as I cannot for so many of you) perhaps make the dots meet.I would love to hear from any of you at any time.Doliber's Way Time Line1973 PFAL Brown University, while attending Barrington College in RI, under Allison Heaney, Ellen Fowler and Chris Geer.1975 WOW, Sioux City IA.1977 Providence, RI. 'Don't take my word for it, go to the Word for yourselves." Well VPW did not say exactly like that but he many times encouraged us to work the Work for ourselves. He taught me how to be a workman of the Word not be lazy.To my great sadness I have seen many believers just teach over and over VPW books. They say it the way he did, they explain it the way he did and show no desire to "search the scriptures" as the Lord Jesus said. Hey the word of the Lord Jesus carries more weight than that of any man. What I love about VPW is that he exhorted us to take it further, to teach it better. Now I am not trying to condemn what VPW taught nor am I trying to "be different" nor am I being vindictive to him. This is not my purpose nor is it the heart of what I am about to say. I remain thankful for VPW and the work he did ON BEHALF OF GOD AND HIS SON JESUS CHRIST.Looking at the renewed mind being the key to power biblically is important for us to re-work. We must be able to prove this from scriptures. If we can't then we must take a fresh look at scriptures. Here are some questions:1. What makes the Christian powerful?2. When does a Christian exhibit power?3. What is the renewed mind?4. Is holy spirit, spriit power?Well let's just start with those four questions. No where in scripture does it say that the renewed mind is power or the key to power. When a person becomes born again he/she now has two natures (old man/new man). God's word never instructs us to rehabilitate the old man (his thoughts or his actions). No we are to put him off, consider him dead, Why? Because we are a new creation in Christ. The new man nature has all we need to exhibit the image of God. A christian believer every day is faced with the decision to follow the old nature or the new nature. Walking by the spirit brings out the qualities of the new man nature. Walking by the spirit burns up the rubbish in our lives. God and His Son is actively involved in changing our lives and developing our new thoughts. our new mind. Grinding our teeth and trying to make the bad thought go away has never worked. What works is walking by the spirit, then the bad thoughts, desires, and actions burns up. The Lord then gives new thoughts, desires, and actions.Well, don't let me say it all.....what say ye?
