Yes I was in Gunnison giving raft rides and sandblasting. Great times! Glad to hear you're in New England. We've been here in Portsmouth, NH since 1985.

The Aurora Borealis is only visible in winter as our summers are void of what you would call night. Here where I live we have about 21 hours of daylight on our longest day. I live in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley which is about 23,000 square miles of mostly pure Alaskan wilderness. The Valley is north of Anchorage and where I live about 50 miles north o the Anchorage border. I live in Palmer which is predominately an agricultural community. A number of hand-picked families were given homestead acres back in the depression era with the object of farming being the government's agenda. Palmer remains mostly agricultural but that is changing rapidly. Although Alaska is growing we still have the fewest people per square mile of anywhere in the contiguous U.S. Alaska is about 3 times bigger than Texas and still only has a population of about 600,000 most of whom live in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau. My uncle's summer home is in southern Maine near Brunswick.

We have had that much snow also, but, we have been fortunate enough to have had rain in between the snowfalls, which makes things more tolerable, although more DREARY, as you no doubt recall. If it has snowed that much and has just kept on piling up, I can see that you guys are no doubt snowed under big time...

But yeah, would love to see pics of Madawasaka! Hey Dick, have you ever heard of a "Sunapee" trout? I think I recall that they are indigenous to the northern parts of Maine. Just curious. I'd like to catch one of those one day, just to add them to my list ya know...

I believe you are correct...Ask Eileen Davies she has the best memory for those kinds of things as does Davis Crowell...it will probably come to me after i finish this. John Richeson may know too and I believe he has a list of all the corps by number.
