  • Hi Vicki - have you heard from your husband? how is his ascent going? I would love to go to Australia someday. right now all my focus is on Nepal april 2009. I have a couple more trips to Utah left this year and Colorado and some to Canada, But Australia.., Excuse me I am drooling all over the keyboard. Let me know how things are goinmg/went for him. You and he are always in my prayers. Love
  • oh, and my dad said he remembered you, he was curious where you were at now. I told him Oklahoma and pointed him at this site :)
  • hahahah, that's awesome!
  • I do remember you, I know we've met, the details just escape me (as usual---odd for a writer). But regardless we've connected, and we're writers--how cool. I noticed in your bio that you teach writing. I would so love to do that and I've mentored in the schools and taught some workshops but don't have my MFA or MA, just a BA in Creative Writing which has not been sufficient so far to move me into academia. I was program director for New Hampshire Writers' Project which connected me with some wonderful writers and got me into life-changing (in the sense of my writing) workshops. And New Hampshire is fully stocked with writers--you can't throw a cat without hitting a poet they say.
  • Vickie, I'm just searching for people I know on my first visit to this site, and I know you! I can't remember our specific connection though it must have been on HQ staff. I apologize but my memoryhas always been lousy. Help me!
  • Wow, that's pretty awesome! I think I had heard that story a long time ago and forgotten all of the details.

My grandma definately rocked at cooking :) And I would agree that my Grandpa was a very cool guy :D

Thanks for the story, mind if I use it for a blog post?

  • Hi Vickie, You bet I'll pray for him (Actually just took a few minutes to do so and will continue to). I know how he feels about climbing. I just got back from a week of guiding Ice climbing and spent half of this afternoon in the gym trying a few new things. It is so fantastic that you support him the way you do. I also understand a little of how you feel as Lena feels the same way everytime I go traveling somewhere. Just remember how God has blessed some climbers before in the past - Moses, David, Elijah, Jonathan, to name a few. God watches out for us climbers Love to you

  • Hi Vickie!

That was a couple of pictures of my Grandpa! I had almost forgotten I put those online.

Marlyn passed away in 2001 and then Dan, my grandpa, in 2003. It's always great to hear warm memories of them though. I sure loved em.

For all that I remember, they lived in Van Wert, not Paine, but that doesn't mean that they didn't before...
  • I love u 2, my friend. Go Jayhawks!

  • Yes We Can :)
