I will most likely discontinue this site due to the NING platform changing and, in my opinion, deteriorating. What started out as free in 2007 has now gone up to $69 a month starting October 1st. Read this link and especially read the comments below it from long time NING network creators.If anyone wants to take ownership of this site that can be arranged. Otherwise it will be cancelled soon. If no one wants to assume the responsibility that is understandable. Everything has its time.
Before this site goes away I recommend that you copy any items you may want from among over 7,500 pictures, hundreds of blog posts, memorial posts and other documents you may find. You can also make screen shots of any given screen you are on using Windows own Snipping Tool for example. I may continue the site for a few months to allow others to make copies.
I started this site about 9 years ago before FaceBook was a thing. The idea was to have a neutral place where a few of us could have some fun and socialize and keep in touch while leaving aside the all the usual religious bickering that would no doubt accompany a site like this. Whatever I did seemed to have struck a nerve at the time. There are almost 1,700 members on this site now including 2 new ones who joined today.
To The Way Ministry and President Rivenbark, I am sure you will be glad to see this site go away as it may be a reminder of your failures and mismanagement resulting in hurt that was caused to many good people. Managing this site has enabled me to collect a treasure trove of memorabilia including music, pictures, videos and documents from those bygone days. It seems you would rather discount them as "old wine skins" as you told us they were. I consider them fine wine. Maybe you are now the old wine skin? It is WE who made the good things and good times happen in our years in The Way Corps, in spite of you.
As site Administrator, I have been able to have personal conversations with people from across all eras of The Way Ministry. Many have moved on to other successful walks of life and are now enjoying their families, children and grandchildren. It's been so much fun to have this experience! I will forever treasure these moments on this site and will never forget some of the greatest people I have ever known.....that would be you!

Thank you, John. Your hard work has been a gift to many. I have not been on the site much but have been abundantly thankful for its presence in my life. I would love to donate and I think there are many others also.
The October 1st mentioned. Is it next October 1st 2017 or October 1st 2016?

What I appreciated most when I was on FB and got a friend request, I could check to see if the person was Corps I will miss that convenience and being able to contact people through their email. I wish I could save all the profiles.

Like so many others have said, I have not visited the site much and not in a loooong time, but I am so glad it exists! I would truly hate to see it go, and now that I have been reminded of it, by your email saying it will be closed, really want to make more use of it, ironically.
Some thoughts about all the ways to continue it that have been discussed - one of the great things about it is the history of the discussions on it, and as you have pointed out, moving all that to any other platform would be formidable, probably impossible. I had to transfer a website, just from the older version of Godaddy's app to their newer version, which absurdly required rebuilding every page from scratch. And since the site had over 150 pages, it took an entire summer, in between all the rest of my life activities.
So I wouldn't favor trying to move to Wordpress, although that is an excellent option when starting something new. There would be too much lost from this site.
I am willing to contribute something now to continue the site in NING. Feeling strapped financially these days, but happen to have some Paypal credit I would be willing to apply here. If someone is planning to continue and maintain all this site has now at NING, please get in touch with me to discuss a contribution I could make now. And if that, plus a few others doing the same, is enough for another year, then the site could incorporate something prominently displayed that asks for donations, explaining the site cannot continue without that and including the option of a recurring monthly donation such as $1. Maybe even require a small donation ($5, $10?) if one is going to sign up, have a password etc. That could generate enough to keep it going thereafter. I'm hesitant to provide my personal email address here, but maybe you could reply to this message if you are someone who will be trying to continue this site here at NING. Would love to hear about that and help however I can!
A question: if enough money was provided, could those taking it over (if that happens) consider adding back the music option? I didn't realize it was here, and don't know what music that included, but finding old Way recordings is a huge interest of mine.
Btw, I really would like to find the old Miles of Smiles album (anyone remember that?) and any other albums people have to offer, or re-recordings of them if someone has a way to share them online. Is there another place on the site that I should post that request for old TWI albums?
