About Me

I am 67 and was in the Way Corps in my late 20s. I was born and raised in, and returned to, Morganton, NC in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains....a beautiful place! I love it!

My Interests

I like dogs, hanging out with friends, surfing the 'net, and watching NCIS (old and new). I attend a home church that meets in the Hickory, NC area. It is an independent spiritual assembly not associated with any Way spinoff, but is a spiritual home to many of us who were formerly in the Way, as well as new folks.

Employment or Career

I retired in 2010 from many years of teaching in public school.. I'm really enjoying not having to set the alarm clock. This has been a huge blessing from God for which I am very thankful.

Music I Like

I like 60s/early 70s music and country music. The Temptations, the Tams, and the Four Tops are long-time favorites ... and I like George Strait and Alan Jackson...and of course, Elvis.

Books I Like

I still love reading the Bible and mysteries. I particularly like the Stephanie Plum series and the Joe Grey mysteries (he's a talking, reading, thinking cat). So as you can see, my reading tastes are rather eclectic... from Bible to cat cozy mysteries.

Television I like

I love NCIS, Bob Hearts Abishola. Idiotest, You Bet Your Life with Jay Leno, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and Jeopardy. I also enjoy watching old Matlock reruns and other classic television.

Movies I like

Any movie with a good plot or characters that isn't too scary. Pretty Woman is one of my favorites, as well as The Sound of Music. I like some of the older stuff more than the newest stuff, I guess.

Sports Teams I like

UNC Tarheels - they are my alma mater ... but I don't follow sports closely.

Hi Susan... I was in Morganton last week eating dinner at I-40 and NC 64 (Japanese Cuisine). I hope to spend a great deal more time in NC in the Nebo area in the future.

Hi, Susan; what's been up for the last decade? No, I no longer have a list of all I own, partially because that's so fluid. I get a bunch of stuff in from developers, contractors, remodelers, clients, and various other groups, and send it out to various
people or groups in need until everything is fully consumed. This is done for entertainment purposes only, as a simple act of stewardship. We're still supporting rebuilding projects in Bayou la Batre, Alabama.

Hi Susan,
Of course I remember you. I don't specifically remember letting you use the car that day (It was an American Motors Amabassador that I'd bought from Doug Cosmos.) but I'm glad I did! Wasn't that the year I set up the aquarium for that huge goldfish that later ended up in the Auditorium fountain? I remember the fiddler crabs kept getting out.

heh there girl...good to see you on. Seems like things are going well for you and am happy to see that. Ricki graduates in May from UNC wilmington. She is going to Italy in Feb for a class she is taking...the abroad program is for credit over spring break.. she is doing very well and will be moving back in May to continue her studies...this time looking into interior design. Denni is almost 20, still in high school and keeping me moving constantly. . Charlotte remains a great place for us. Yes, I do see Kerr on a regular basis. actually just returned from Raleigh last weekend and got to have lunch with Ronnie Sink. That was so special. Have a great day, lave, laine

You have a great teaching career going--I keep telling my kids to be a teacher, it's the best career! And you teach in Hickory? hmmmm....does Hoosiers haunt the halls?!
