"I love that poem, Lonnell. Haven't kept up on this blog but it looks as though it got a bit heated. Too bad. I for one, have no idea when the Lord is coming back but I sure am glad it's nearer every day and I plan to be waiting with baited breath!…"

  • And Betsy and Jessica's brother, Eric, were an item for a time, way back - he is a great kid, really sweet.
  • Stanley,

I never got the other reply but I got this one!

I checked out the yoga spa site and it looks wonderful - did you do any of the eco tours? It would be great do spend a week at a place like that.

Tico is what Costa Ricans call themselves. Ex-pats and others who live there or who are closely connected also call them that. Our house is in a mixed neighborhood made up of Ticos, North Americans and Europeans. It's an urban community but the houses are mostly all newly built. We can walk to shops and restaurants.

I didn't realize you and Bo let TWI as early as 84 - we left in late 86 and moved back to Dallas that Jan. It's been a ride but we're doing well.

So, where are you and Bo in your travels now? Did you know that Yeadon's inlaws live in Plano and we were at the same church with them for about 7 years? Nice folks. They live about 5 min from us. Allison was in a Bible study that Jessica led and Betsy was in youth group with Jessica. That was a few years ago now.

Do you have homes in both SC and Michigan?

    Great to hear from you...

    Janie
  • We go to the Zelov's fellowship and we also love the Peltos! And now I remember the Zelovs talking about Ralph and Ryan. I've watched the Zelov kids grow into wonderful young adults.
  • Hey Stanley,

Steve and I would love to see you when you come through the Raleigh area. You mentioned you were going to see some other people here, too. Would we know them? If so, maybe we could all get together at the same time.
  • Look @ me!!! it's friggin' 6:15 am in Chicago & I'm talking to you Stanley, is this too cool or what! Gotta go make some $, I'm a Chippendale dancer & dancing @ a bridal shower in Michigan City, In. Nah!! just kiddin', will write you later about serious stuff...Love, Davis
  • Stan, Sorry this took so long, I don't get on the computer often. I married Lynn Stephens. She was in Family corps 5. We have been together 26 years now. Two Kids, Elizabeth and Jake. Also a step-son, Rich. We are not a part of The Finnegan church. We still have a family fellowship in our home and have a nice group we study with. I have great memories of lots of people.

  • Am always blessed to see your name pop up
  • What a delight to hear from you guys.

Doing the bus tour gives me a great laugh. I'll bet it's a little different than the love buses of the 70's (you know the old school buses painted in paisley colors with smoke wafting out of the windows).

So are you working while you travel or retired, or both?
  • Hi, Janie--it was up in the mountains surrounded by a coffee plantation--really spectacular. Their web site is http://www.puravidaspa.com/

What is the Tico community? Is that the name of the town where you are building? Are you thinking of moving there permanently? I thought it was quite lovely--travel to and from was a bit long, but, hey--you and John are younger than we are! My neices and nephews who've been in Mexico on the mission field all did total immersion and found it very helpful--the biggest thing is to get over your fear of looking foolish when you're learning another language!

Keep us posted on developments. Love hearing from you.

    Stanley
  • Stanley, I speak a little Spanish at this point but John is doing really well. He is more aggressive and less self conscious - he was the same way when we went to France, could strike up a conversation with anyone, and I was the one who had taken 3 years of French!! I am working on my Spanish and will do an immersion session as soon as possible. probably next spring. There is a good language school within walking distance of our house (in CR). We have friends who live in the neighborhood where we are building and have been very fortunate to make some solid contacts within the Tico community - makes all the difference. Costa Ricans are wonderful people and many speak English. They are very literate and progressive. There is an Orphanage in our town that we want to get involved with - they do great things.

Where was the Yoga Spa you and Susan went to?

    Janie
