  • i don't think i consider the bush administration conservative, in the true sense of the word. i would probably use other adjectives to describe them. i tend to think of myself as a liberal, but i really would like to see the government smaller, less wasteful and less intrusive--so i guess in some ways i have libertarian leanings. mostly, i'm done with letting other people, institutions, etc. tell me what i can or can't do! so whatever that makes me, that's what i am.

as for the posting rules on this site, i think the only rule is to be nice. other than that, i think you can respond to stuff as you see fit. i was confused a bit about what you wrote because i didn't see any liberal/conservative discussion before what you wrote, but maybe i just missed something.

thanks for the american idol comment. i HAVE wished i was young enough to compete. (though they'd probably give me the ax after i kick simon in the nuts.) is debbie still singing? i don't know if i mentioned this before, but i'm back in a band with the guys i played with in high school--we got together after i came back to NY in '87, and have been playing ever since. i sometimes can't believe people will still hire us old guys, but they do!
  • hi, jeff. i'm a little confused about why you wrote what you wrote in the context of hope's blog, but since you did, i have a question: do you not consider the bush/cheney administration to be conservative? because they way i understand it, they presided over the biggest federal budget expansion since fdr--after campaigning on a pledge to reduce the size of government.

    just wondering.
  • You still live in Oossiquah?
  • Positive mental deposits. That's what you taught me. Making positive mental deposits. Debbie was at Emporia, you were at Rome City, diligently courting her long distance, and you taught me about positive mental deposits. A practice which carries over into other aspects of life. Bless you for that.

Wonderful to see that you're still madly in love with her. It shows :)
Much love to both of you.

  • God bless you, Jeff...
    And Debbie too of course...

Anything on brother Stephan and Teresa?

  • Yes, I'm good friends with Lisa and Jeff Mackay ... in fact, Lisa is coming to visit me this afternoon ... we are writing a children's book together about her dog, Nick. She and Jeff just celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary. You can check Cliff Adelman's page/e-mail on his website link at this site. Just click on his name/pic, and it will give his info, including an e-mail address for him. I myself am recovering from a nasty bout of diverticulitis that has kept me out of work (teaching) for the last two weeks. Do you mind my asking who your sick friend is ... I was in the Way for 23.5 years, so I know quite a few of the people.... if you want to e-mail me directly, you can do so at spropst@compascable.net ... Susan
  • Do you ever see Pat and Mary Hughes?
    Love you two too...
PS Robin and I are both remarried to other people
I married Milford and Betty Bowen's middle daughter, Lynn
  • Thanks. See you tomorrow!
  • Hi, guys--we're out of cell phone range for the night which is a bit of a bummer. We're also having a hard time finding a campground that isn't totally booked starting tomorrow! YIKES! I don't know what's going on in the area but the whole RV world seems to be planning to be there. We're working on it but might end up having to park at a WalMart or something--not something we like to do. I'll keep you posted.

  • Debbie--thanks for your kind words. We pretty much take our house with us and tend to like to just stay on board with all our "stuff!" We're leaving Radium Hot Springs in the morning and have several places we want to see between here and Seattle so not exactly sure when we'll arrive but we'll keep you posted on our progress through Idaho etc. I can't believe you teach music to elementary kids--sounds like a blast. Can't wait to see you both!

    Best always,

    Stanley
