I did anthropology when I went to university straight after I left school - have forgotten what I learned back then, though. Nowadays I am homeschooling my kids and we have recently been studying a little about Australian Aboriginals. We watched a movie a couple of weeks ago called "The Ten Canoes", which was extremely enlightening and funny too - showed some interesting aspects of the Aboriginal culture. I agree with you about learning about different people. I like finding out about the way other people live - now and in the past. It helps me to slow down and consider alternatives before drawing hasty conclusions.
I wonder if Peter will come to another conference in Australia - maybe you will come too!! He must be busy with his job and his writing. Where do his relatives live?

You will not believe that I was thinking about you this morning - wondering what you are up to these days and if anyone would know where you are. I was even going to ask John Richeson, because I think I remember that you were from Tampa, Florida!!! Then I saw an email in my hotmail in-box ... but I deleted it 'cos I don't know anyone called "Stacia Fine" and I thought again about Stacia Harman. Then I come to check my emails on this site and...What the?! It IS you! This is very, very cool! :-)
I am going to go back to university next year to finish my undergraduate degree in History and English (I began in 1981 and have been back to uni a few times since then!) What are you studying? What does your husband teach?
It's making me smile mega-amounts to be back in touch with you again.
Love and Big Hugs,
Sarah
PS I am still good at raking: grass, leaves... whatever! :-)
This story is a crazy one of God's deliverance. Last monday when I got the call from my sister I text everyone I could and called even more and e-mailed even more people to pray. My sister Martie did the same. Roberto Martinez forwarded my e-mail all over the world and within a short time we had rallied many many to pray. Many of you prayed with your fellowships as well as your private prayers.
In the meantime my brother-in-law, Sam was rushed to the hospital with an excrutiating headache that when they had done a lumbar puncture and found blood in his spinal fluid, concluded that he had had a stroke and moved him to another hospital. When he arrived at St. Josephs hospital, the second hospital, the neurologist said he had already made rounds and would see him tomorrow.
We waited until Tuesday to find out how he was. By tuesday they discovered that the fluid around his brain was seeping out into his spine. They also discovered that he had viral meningitis. He hadn't had a stroke at all. When they did an MRI they discovered that the fluid was seeping from the place that the other hospital had done the lumbar puncture and that during the first 24 hours he had not been seen, all the fluid had drained from around his brain. Everytime he moved his brain was hitting against his skull. They did a blood patch to fix it. When they told him that all the fluid had drained out, they also told him that his brain had swollen and that it had been drawn down into where the brain stem is. It was beginning to cut off the blood flow to his brain. He should have died. The only care he was getting during that first 24 hour time period was the prayers that we were saying. God saved him when the doctors were neglecting him.
This is the power of prayer. He is fine now and has no residual effects from the problems. God is good. The anti-viral medication worked for the meningits and the swelling on his brain is gone. The blood patch held to retain the fluids around his brain and the fluids are replenished. God is very good to his people when we trust him and pray.
I had to share this story with you. I think it is a wonderful example of the power of prayer.
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Love,
Judy
It sure is great to hear from you girl! Things are going good here in the first state but I miss those Kellers and the Flagstaff mountains! I will write you more soon to your email address okie dokie? Please say hi to Peter for me.
Love you!
I don't know if we worked together or not. I don't see Carolina or her sister. Long story... I can't understand why the e-mail didn't go through. Computers can be annoying. Anyway if you want to call you can reach me on my cell phone. I will send you a private message with my number.
