  • Hi! Great to hear from you! We are doing great up here in the Northwest, although we got a bit too much snow this year (global worming is a bitch) The economy has effected my practice a bit, but not drastically as we had lots of time to see it coming.

Grace and I have just been working with our own kids. We stopped doing a fellowship in 2002. We will probably start up again if a few years as the physical needs of the kids become less dependent on us and they will need to see more of our involvement as an example. I get to teach allot still which is like getting the cherry on top without allot of the hard work. During the fall, my boys are all in football and I am supper busy with practices and games, as well as our girls soccor stuff in the fall to. We lay low the rest of the year to recoop. My oldest is a real jock and the second oldest is kind of spread all over the place, not quite having found his niche, but he seems to like music. They all manifest and they are the first ones I go to when I need healing.

Your pictures are great to see and am am thankful you still are singing, as that is a major long suite of yours.

    Love, Dave
  • thanks, marian! glad you liked them. as for bringing up the vocals, i really like getting my voice to lay in the track as part of the ensemble. so it's a very intentional mix. (if you really want to know the lyrics, i can send 'em to you!)

congrats on getting your own rehearsal room. i had a nice little "studio" in my basement before i got divorced. soundproofed, with everything always up and ready to go. i really miss it, but i'm working on a replacement that'll work in my new situation (a co-op. which means i have upstairs neighbors).

as for pre-amps or mixers, it's a whole new world out there. back in the day, i was partial to Mackie, but i'm kinda behind the curve now. i'm just using a tascam usb interface (the us-122, i think), with an old ART Tube MP to warm it up. it works OK.

when you decide to get that macbook, remember to check out apple's refurbs at their online store. you can get some great deals on like-new stuff there.

    stay in touch!
  • The farm is still intact- we lost a great crop with the highest income potential ever- but... THe house was destroyed. IT was a farm house. Part of it wa built in the 1800's. IT was remodeled in the 1960's. It came as part of the farm that we bought. We were flooded out in 1993- with a "500" year flood. We built back because we thought that we were good until about 2400. Ha! Bob did a total remodeling on the house- adding a 24 ny 30 bedroom bathroom, walk in closet, computer room, wrap around porch. The new addition was built over a basement that housed his office, gym equipment, storage, etc. We put our heart into the place. We had fruit orchards, grapevines, etc. It was a blow to lose the place. The farm is still intact. We bought it for $900 an acre in 1992. Now nothing sells in the bottoms for under $7,000 an acre- even after a flood- so that part is good- always count your blessings. We are two years from paying 400 acres completely off. We have all our equipment paid for and our house was paid for. We farm 1300 acres in all because we farm his Dad's farm. This flood didn't completely knock us down but it has been challenging and was a set back to say the least. Bob has gotten very active politically. The flood was man's mismanagement of one of the greatest assets our county has- the Mississipp river. hrough this incident he has met the head general for the Corps of Engineers, politicians. Bob has become a paper and political farmer this year.
Never thought that we'd be going to church but we go to an awesome one that my kids LOVE! Can't keep them away. I am blessed that all three love God's Word and speak in tongues. he boys are quiet. Lauren is a social butterfly. Robbie has pastsor tendencies, Lauren is an evangelizer. Ryan is more quiet, intellectual and geared toward math and sciences. I'll try to get some pictures downloaded. If not, sent me your address and I'll send you a picture in the snailmail. My school e-mail is skerr@keokuk,k12,ia,us
Do you know the whereabouts of Glenn Edmundson? Haven't talked to him since 1997.
  • i thought they were real drums! good job!

yeah, i know what you mean about singing harmonies with yourself. when i bought my first 4-track, it was like a dream come true. i'd been wishing i could do that ever since i heard mccartney's first solo record. i have a little computer setup now (on a mac, of course!), but most of the stuff i've recorded—mostly during the '90s—was on a tascam cassette 8-track. all the songs on my page here were recorded on that machine. all real instruments, by the way, except for the drum machine—for those times i wrote something too difficult for my limited drumming abilities.
  • Hey Marian, great to hear from you. Brenda says hi. I thought of you many times as well. In fact I am smiling right now... great memories. OK OK next time I'll buy the pizza. Dave Young and Rick Felty are on the site as well. Although, Dave has been not answering for a couple of months.
Thanks for being so sweet to me, you were/are such a breath of fresh air.
    Mike
  • hiya. about your songs, i think you did a good job. they sound great. my tendency would be to add more instruments, but there's something to be said for the simplicity of your tracks--they work! (a simple bass guitar line might be nice, though, to anchor them, give them some weight.) what i like the best are your harmonies on "Speak the Word."

they're nicely recorded. did you do them in a studio, or at home?

now it's your turn--what do you think of the songs on MY page?
  • Hi Marian,
What a treat seeing you all. BOB is standing over my shoulder. I am going to learn to download some pictures one of these days. YOu are looking good! What fellowship are you with theses days, what kind of music are you doing? BOB would love to hear it. I fellowship wsome with CHristian Family Fellowship. My kids have enjoyed their youth camps and we went to family camp last year. We also attend a really fun local church. Bob is the lead guitar player and Robbie our son plays bass. It's a blast!
  • Yep - Its a wedding photo but I've had it up here for over a year and it is a bit dated so I thought maybe I'd change it today. I haven't seen anyone from New Orleans probably since 1987, my last Corps Week. I have one close friend remaining from Ministry days.

Bruce and Emmy - how cool! And Mike - my WOW brother! I remember I could never keep up with him when we were walking together - He could take two steps to every one of mine with those long legs! Becky's here on the site if you haven't looked her up yet.

The music sounds great! Are you marketing the CD?
  • hey, marian. sorry it's taken me so long to respond. been stoopid busy. i'll give a listen and get back to you. (are the dead playing near you in the spring? i'm hoping to take my kids!)
  • Miss Marian! Thank you for saying hello. Yes, its the restaurant life for me. I would say that I am still a wild one, with a conservative veneer. Have been playing (guitar) and singing more than ever lately. Would love to hear some of your new music. Last time (10 Years?) I spoke to Dino, he was with Karen, child and living in Boise...maybe he or someone will see this and pop his head up! Much love to you, my friend. The Icy Commander
