Lois, surely you gest?! Are discussions regarding Jesus Christ, righteousness, holiness, etc. unpalatable to some of us here? Why would that be now? Do we mock those things that we once embraced and that are truly important to our creator God? Please forgive me if I seem a little facetious here, but I thought that speaking about the good things of God were favored by those who truly know and love Him.
Lois, do you no longer enjoy speaking of these things, or am I just misunderstanding your sense of humor?
If there is an opposition to civil discussion in this blog, and if there exists herein a true mockery of what is true righteousness as defined by the scriptures, then I have indeed ventured into a place that I have no desire to remain. Is this the mindset that ushered in the acitivism to take God out of the school system, the pledge of allegiance, out of government buildings, off of our currency, etc.?
I mean no disrespect, and I pray I am wrong, but, my God, has then this site truly become merely a "social network," where political correctness reigns, and where true love and respect for God is mocked?
Please forgive me for thinking that I was among people who still, at least to some degree, believed in our Lord Jesus Christ, and the righteousness that on He could bring through His obedience and His resurrection.
Is there harm in speaking of the One who redeemed our lives from destruction? Is this now considered folly? Do we fancy witches and witchcraft? Been there, done that, almost lost my soul! How weak and impotent compared to the resurection power of our Messiah!
Deut. 18:9-11
9 When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there.
10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in [a] the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft,
11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.
Psalm 34:1
I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Respectfully along with love and blessings!

i started this simply to find out if anyone else had "come out the other side" in a way similar to me. i really WASN'T looking for a fight, or even a discussion, with those who hadn't. but i guess i should've realized that people who still believe couldn't leave it alone; it's just not the way they think. but the truth is, if you don't like the nature of the discussion, you can always just stay out of it!
as for "political correctness," i want those who have brought it up to understand that it goes both ways. i don't just casually not believe the things i once believed. i ACTIVELY, PASSIONATELY do not believe them. i have very strong opinions about them, where they came from, and the effect they have on those who believe them. but for the most part, i bite my tongue here, because i don't think there'd be any benefit in arguing about it. but it might surprise "believers" to know that it upsets me to see people i love and care about still believe those things--because i'm so glad i no longer do.
"How did a blog that began with a simple question; any other ex-christians out there? turn into a conversation about "righteousness through Jesus Christ?"
Can someone really become an ex-Christian, like leaving the Rotary Club? If seed is really seed, then that's it. And, since you have the righteousness of God through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ as part of that seed, it only makes sense that these two concepts could end up in the same paragraph.
I believe that a form of "political correctness" is to be criticized because I might offend someone when I say, lovingly, that the only way to salvation, heaven, etc. is through Jesus Christ. Political Correctness makes us feel guilty for having an opinion or belief that is not part of the global agenda.
I guess it just upsets my heart to see Way Corps, who I regarded as salt of the earth, disbelieve basic truths. This comes across as anger towards others at times I know, but it's just anger towards the adversary. God bless.
That Donovan song is harmless. It is not about embracing witchcraft and stuff. Read the lyrics. Donovan is cool. We saw him in concert a couple of years ago and it was great fun. I enjoyed him talking about his wife and grown kids and how well they are doing. Here are a couple of analyses of the lyrics which might help you understand that song.
"I definitely think it has something to do with paranoia, like he can feel something bad is about to happen to him. It keeps him looking over his shoulder. But it may also be an insubstantial fear based on superstition and imagined dangers. And I heartily agree with Karatepop, Donovan's voice is love. Anybody who hasn't, needs to listen to "Universal Soldier."
"Really all it conveys is a vague impression of disorientation and paranoia. Nothing unusual is actually happening, but it's being observed through the eyes of a schizophrenic or someone on drugs."
As to your statement:
"has then this site truly become merely a "social network," where political correctness reigns, and where true love and respect for God is mocked?"
No. I do not see anyone mocking God or the Bible or Jesus Christ or anyone's religion. That will not be tolerated here.
Is this a social network? Yes.
Is is ONLY a social network? No.
Does polical correctness reign supreme? No because I am not allowing politics at all on this site. You will have to be the judge of what you think is politically correct or not. We won't discuss it here. You seem to be judging the entire site by one or two posts or threads when in fact very few people even read these blogs and fewer still make blog posts.
George, look around. I would say the majority on this site agree with your assessment of God, the bible, Jesus Christ and what constitutes true righteousness. In fact I agree with many of your views about those matters as well. I am a Christian and I believe in God and I believe witchcraft is wrong. But I also believe when a Christian rips apart another Christian in the name of religion or righteousness it is perhaps just as wrong and maybe even worse depending on the context. I also now believe there are different degrees of sin...that in fact, some sins are worse than others.
But do not judge this whole site by my one little ole opinion. My opinions and beliefs are certainly flawed, you can count on that.
God bless you.
Any Righteous Wiccans out there?
It seems to me, though, that a person can be righteous and live righteously in that sense of the word and that God would be accepting of them. Doesn't he look on the heart and not on the outward appearance? I also believe good works and support of charitable causes have been given a very bad rap by some of us haven't they, myself included? Just typing out loud.
Love and blessings back at you George.
This darn "written form" is so deceiving at times. Sometimes an element is missing. I look forward to the day when we have video based blogs like a lot of young people are already doing. That technology is coming fast what with cheap webcams and powerful graphics procs built into most computers these days as well as Skype and many other free softwares. The tone of voice and facial expressions alone make a huge difference.
How can someone who is an unbeliever "live just as righteously" as a believer...if righteousness comes only through Jesus Christ?
That begs a look at what exactly is righteousness and what is it to live righteously.
It can't be mere abstaining from certain things...doesn't it have to come, in the active living sense, from a relationship with Jesus Christ and God?
Respectfully along with love and blessings?

Likewise I also do not wish to have discussions about TWI, cults, adultery, spinoffs, VPW, LCM, CG, JL, CES, CFF, POP, were we deceived, were we not deceived, were we mistreated, were we not mistreated, etc, etc. and all the intense drama involved in those subjects. There are already several sites dedicated to detailed discussions about those issues. There are also an abundance of sites dedicated to political discussions and debates. I don't want to bring it here is all.
I take full responsibility for these...yes...censorships and I apologize to some who may feel slighted in any way. Trust me I am not in denial or misinformed on any of the above subjects and I am not an apologist of these very serious issues. I am simply trying a different approach here in this little private corner of the Internet. And with 1,400 members so far I think I may have stumbled on to something. I am seeking a place of neutrality with no agenda or platform but a place of reconnecting with one another in peace. I realize this approach is not easy and is far from perfect.
Thank you for your patience.
