  • Jan, I remember you and Chris very well from our first year in residence. Those were the best years of learning the Bible for me. So much of it stuck. I can hear Richard Thomas saying, "You don't like it?? Tough, change your mind." Some of the funniest moments in our lives. I use to love running in front with Richard and coughing like I was dying. The entire front section would start laughing so hard they couldn't stand it. I also remember many of the girls coming in last. I wouldn't be surprised if that is how you and Chris started hanging out together. He wasn't the fastest that year either. He was one of the most animated and standout people in residence. I still remember his shorts! (God have mercy!) ROTFLMAO
  • Thank you sharing you lives with us... Did you ever the story of the baby being born "under the trees' in the front yard...that was my baby Lena.. she is now 28...and wonderful...
I remenber telling Chis( in the basment of uncle harry hall)after a morning run with a quick cup of coffee...before class...that I wanted the first human touch for my baby to be a believer...guess that started "it" all as Lena was the first of the 8th Corps baby to be born...even Donna Martindale asked me how it went!!!! :0 Lots of stories...I have letters from your Mom....staying at her home seeng the jar of "Bebeees and teddy bears (on the fire place) getting new ribbons at x-mas time.. ( I know her favorite drink).Thank you for sharing your Mom with us .big hugs Gail
  • Hello Jan it is Jim Murray. If you have not heard Becky fell asleep Oct 3 2008 from pancreatic cancer. In fact Steven and I are going to Minnesota for Memorial day to put her ashes in the lake. Tell Chris I said hi. I am doing ok with all this but sure would love to sit and have coffee with Becky (she called herself Elizabeth after we got married and move to Mississippi.)
    Jim
  • Jan, you cute thing. You make me smile. Give that big hunk of love you live with a big hug from me and say hi to Amy.
    I miss you!
  • Hello Jan,
I can see lots of saints remember you and are blessed to see you on this site. I looked at you profile after I left you a note. Your daughter is sweet and I am so glad you had a child. You were a cheerful heart in the crowd in the Corps. I see you do transcriptions. I had thought to do that as a stay home job, but the opportunity came for me to go to school on-line for medical coding. I started school last week and am very blessed and surprised at my age to start such a project. Since Chris is an avid antique collector is your home full of treasures? Love you June Finnegan
  • Jan, I was best friends with Dr Rawlins for many years. She was one of my sponsors in the Corps and I would frquently visit her at home in Munster. I do not know if Chris remembers or not. She came to visit me when I was on my interim year in New Orleans. Boy was that a trip! We had a ball.
When things fell apart we kind of lost track. Did she fall asleep? She was a grand Lady. Frannie (kessler) Higdon
  • I don't think I ever met you, or did I? I hate to say I don't remember for sure if I met Chris, but your current last name certainly rang a bell. I got involved in the way at Indy, and Craig Rawlins was just about my best Way friend during those days. I was devastated upon learning of his death shortly after I started the 8th corps at Emporia, At the next ROA, Dr. Rawlins insisted on buying me a couple meals so I could save my corps "funny money".

I don't know how uplifting it is to you to talk this way about your hubby's family, But, remembering them so well, I would seriously be willing to bet that you are wonderful along the same lines. They were all such FUN people, especially Craig.
  • Hi Jan,

Great to see your smiling faces on here. When are you going to come out to Idaho and see us? Drop us a line or call anytime.

    Much love,

    Tim
  • Hi Jan,
Thanks for the offer. We might just take you up on that. We live in the most northern town in Maine in a town called Madawaska, pop. approx. 4300.
Sue is ready for the south. She's never been a cold weather person. So it's understandable that she'ld like to leave when we retire which should be in seven years.
  • Jan! So nice to hear from you! And so, how has life been with the Swamp Fox? I always figured that since you loved the Swamp Fox so much, that Chris must have filled those shoes for you. Dang you made us laugh when you told that incident!

Yeah, we had some times in the Tenth, didn't we? Fond memories forever for me. Richard Thomas, cardboard cars, midnight marches, great discipline and learning. Yeah. And Oreegun! Wasn't Tonye Koetteritz one of your WOW sisters back then? She was our room mate in Portland (me and Terry Christian's) for a year before I went in rez. I wonder how she is and where Tony got off to. Married a guy named Ted, right?

Well, so nice to know that the good Dr. Rawlins got to enjoy that sweet Carolina sunshine where the winters are mild. I didn't know that, and it's nice to know. She helped us with our firstborn Meagan when she was still a bun in the oven. Meagan had had a twin that didn't make it into the into the second trimester, and there was a some complication. So we stopped at her place (we were on the road to the Rock from Alaska) and she examined Shannon and pronounced her okay (Roz Cohen had already ministered to Shannon and the baby when we'd stopped at Emporia), and Shannon went on to have Meagan at home up in Alaska. In fact, all four of our babies were born at home delightfully and naturally and we credit Dr. Rawlins for her help and educating people as a pioneer in natural childbirth. Love you, and love to Chris!
