"Dave,

Thanks for the kind words. I didn't know that Gary was best man at your wedding. I remember having a fellowship at Richard and Becky Ridge's place after Gary's funeral.

At the time of Gary's death his dad was pretty agnostic. But over the…"

"Hi Dave,

Wow, I never expected to run into you and Barb online.

I drive up Shelby Street in Indy all the time and wonder where you are these days.(I think either you guys or family used to live there).

I know it was a long time ago, but Gary…"

"HI Joan and Frank,

Nice to hear from you.

Yes Frank, El Paso was quite an experience. I had taken a bit of a (cough) detour, and arrived a few days after everyone else. I was solo, driving down a street hoping to run into someone from the branch,…"

"Rob,

Glad to hear things are going so well for you.

I still have all my teeth (even though they are still as crooked as they were). I still have plenty of hair, too. (The picture on my profile is less than a year old).

May the Force be with you!…"

  • Dear Cathy, My deepest and sincerest condolences for your (our) great loss. I was WOW in El Paso, TX 1974-75 with Darrell as coordinator of our family. I have nothing but great memories of him. Always laughing, joking, and making me (us) feel at ease. I was just fresh out of high school, so I am sure I was a handful for Darrell!! I just reconnected with him last year and was so happy I got the chance to do that. (Thank you John Richeson for this site!!). A special memory? Well, lots of things he said and did were special. I remember one time we were scraping nickels in the beginning of the WOW year. All we could find in the house for food was a bag of corn flour, some ketchup, and a single hot dog. Darrell came up with the idea of making a pizza! Water and corn flour for the dough, ketchup for the sauce, and sliced the hot dog on it and baked it. We all laughed and had a good time. Darrell just made light of any situation and kept moving us forward and making us feel good about life. Yep, I really loved Darrell. Thank God we're getting new bodies and will be together forever with the Lord. Please let me know if I can do anything for you. Much love in Christ, Michael

  • Darrell,

Yes I remember clearly. Gary died of a motor cycle accident at 23 years old. It was a a devastating death of a close friend. Gary was best man in our wedding - we were very close. I remember you taught us the hope of Christ return at a small fellowship - - - these were formative times for me.
Barbara and her parents lived on Shelby and when we dated and later married that was her parents home. They later moved to El Paso, TX where we live and her mother has since died. Even though that was a sad time I have found memories of you sharing God's word with us and comforting us with those words.

    Much love,

    David R
  • Read your comment on Angelo's page as since I know the Ferry boys, thought I'd respond. Harrison used to be Sam and Dave is his brother. Sam/Harrison changed his name about the time he went into the Corps or was graduating, because he thought folks would take him more seriously as Harrison and to sort of start over again. I think he may have reverted to Sam over the last decade, but his brother Dave would know. Dave is married & living in AZ.
  • I'll always remember our extended WOW voyage to El Paso in 1974 wow!

  • Darrell, all are welcome here who were involved in The Way Corps program. A lot has changed since your time. People have changed too. Most have totally different behaviors and thought processes than they had back decades ago. I like to "give peace a chance" as one of my favorite musicians used to say. Check your private email.
  • Hello Darrell,

My husband and I live in Indianapolis too. We were in the 15th wc. I hope you have a great day.
