About Me
After graduation I moved back to Asheville, NC (where I took PFAL) with the assignment of starting a Twig which I did. I married one of my spiritual partners and we enjoyed 13 years of marriage and had a daughter in 1992. At this writing, she is 15 and a freshman in high school. She spent the first 12 years of her life in NC, I spent about 30 years there. Now both of us live in ROchester, NY where the rest of my family lives.
My life consists of many pursuits the most important being to make a good life in my new location. Even for an extrovert like me it is challenging to make new friends. I joined a gym and take aerobics and cycling classes there. Over a year ago I joined a singles "meet-up" group. The activities coordinators are excellent and I enjoy the get-togethers.
My Interests
Bird-watching, Festivals, taking day trips to Niagara Falls, Toronto, Finger Lakes region. I love home decorating, dabble in watercolors, drinking tea with friends, playing bridge, and messing around on my computer. I'm always interested in self-improvement.
Employment or Career
No matter what I've done, it has always revolved around sales. I've sold commercial foodservice equipment, been a waitress, sold AAA memberships, cleaned houses, and cleaned windows. My last career move-a real stunner-I was hired by Prudential and trained/licensed as a financial planner. Still lots of sales involved, but what I always loved about it was the closeness I had to my clients, many of whom became friends.
Now I'm semi-retired and focusing on giving my daughter the best possible rearing I can. When she graduates from high school, I hope she attends college and I hope that I will have a loving relationship with a man after God's own heart and mine, too.
Music I Like
The blues...Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Allman Bros. John Mayer, Bonnie Raitt. I also actually enjoy listening to the pop tunes my daughter likes...not all of them but most.
Books I Like
Cookbooks, O Magazine, self improvement stuff, gardening.
Television I like
Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Dancing with the Stars, The Office, My Name is Earl, 30Rock, Survivor, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report
Movies I like
Walk the Line, The Thomas Crown Affair (steamy!!), LA Confidential, Fargo
Sports Teams I like
Buffalo Bills, Husband likes the Yankees

Just saw your new(er) picture of you in your red hat. Are you a member of the official society? At my 50th birthday party, my friends gave me the baseball cap and purple t-shirt version of the Red Hat Society's "uniform". I am not an official member, but seem to socialize and volunteer with many of the offical members. Also love the picture of the cat in the Christmas tree. Maybe I will have to put up a tree this year to see how long it takes for my cats to knock it over. They just love a challenge.
It was wonderful to talk to you on the phone awhile back. I can't believe how the years have flown by. This website is such a wonderful resource for many things, too many to put into words at the moment. Mr. Richeson has done a wonderful thing.
I like your idea about a Single Way Corps site, but I have to admit that the word Single may be intimading for some. OK. It is intimaditing for me... It would be nice to find out how others navigate life being a one adult household or one person household. I would love to find other people who can laugh and understand what it is like to live in a world that seems to be built for couples, even though census statistics indicate that is not an accurate reflection of USA's social structure.
Love you,
Claire
Thank you for writing. I loved your painting and the other pictures. Did you ever get together with Julia Stanley or Bill and Betty Jackson while you were in Asheville?
We enjoy going to the Health Food Store and some of the restaurants in Asheville,
but really enjoy the small town feel of Franklin.
The area of Western North Carolina has started to get together more and it is a great
blessing.
Love you!
Claire
I did not recognize your married name. I do have many fond memories of LEAD. It was one of the most beneficial and empowering experiences of my life. I think the hitch hiking we did was hald the learning experience.
You are correct. Sue and I divorced about 5 months ago. It was civil, no lawyers, no drama. My 16 year old daughter Kelsey lives with me, and my 14 year old son Chris lives with Sue across town.
We both live in Manchester, NH.
I have lived in NH since we graduated from the corps. It's amazing how fast the years have flown by.
God Bless
Vince
Thanks for writing. It's wonderful to know where you are and to see the photo of you and your daughter. What a blessing.
Though at the end of my mom's natural life she wasn't able to recognize one of her children from the other, she was still able to fill-in-the-blanks as we read scripture to her and had an unwaivering confession of the Truth. I still want to grow up and be like her.
You've been challenged over these years, I'm sure, but you appear to be growing and moving onward. As my husband says, "When you're living forever, there's just not that much to be worried about." So much to be thankful for. God's best to you. Sara
Love,
Joy
