"A ride to corps week and the rock. Lets see...ummm...no LOL! Come to think of it I left corps week in 86. Could not beleive what I was hearing one evening. Anyway still have fond memories of those days. Have you seen the pic of you with the…"
Yes, I certainly do remember you from way builders. You, Mark and myself the roof and gutter crew, lol! I also remember the drive to Gunnison in your van.
I am so glad to hear you were not affected by some of the things that went on. Wow, you have spent a lot of time in OC! Definately a nice place to live! I remember Gayle. Yes, I do remember the Staff Follies, and the song by the Police. In…"
Thank you, It is so good to hear from you as well. It was many years ago, but at times it seems like yesterday. I bet that was very interesting reading your journal. I am glad to hear at least someone kept theirs, lol! I was very bad…"
I can still see your warm smile. Rick Sanders (10th) was our twig coor at emporia the first year in residence. I believe it was near the end of that year. Funny, I lived in Orange County from 88-96.
I don't recall the raid. But, I sounds like something Steve would come up with, lol! I think the last time I saw Cindy was when she was at Rome City. Yeah, the Messers were fun. I think Richard moved away from Bham.
I remember when you came to Oak Mountain State Park near Birmingham, AL. It must have been in the late seventies. Ellen Herring must have been our Limb Coordinator then. I have often wondered how she is doing these days. Hope all is well…"
I had forgotten about Obie's Navy career. I didn't know him that well, but thought the guy on the show might be related. Haven't heard that last name before or since being in residence. Thanks for the props on the pics. I should have had…"
I don't believe we ever met. I searched this site for Obie Oberhart and found your post. Last night I watched a show on Discovery called Raging Nature, the episode was Landslides. There was an Andrew Oberhart in one of the segments. He…"
"Welcome Sue, It's great you made it here. Thanks for the condolences regarding Nikki. I moved around some after the way before coming back home 12 years ago. I bet Aphrodite is a wonderful companion. I look forward to your pics. Take care."
I have had this feeder for two years. It is still running off the original battery charge. On numerous occasions I have witnessed unsucessful attempts by squirrels to access the feed. A little pricey, but over the years I have spend more on other…
Hi again! Yes, here in OC since graduation.......hard to believe. I was actually here between our two years in residence as well, so I think I almost feel like a native. (I was from IA and had gotten into the word there in '80.) I stay in contact with Gayle Rogler from our Corps, and Cindy Souci O'Donnelll fom the 10th Corps. Others, too, but will have to think more on that quesion. Seems like so many moons ago and life seems to speed along so fast now. (Just like they' say!) Remember the 'Staff Follies' and 'The They' singing 'Every Step You Take'? (Some truly fun memories from back then.......I, for one, felt I had been quite protected somehow from other tales I've heard) Anyway, how is AL? Is that where you're from? I read about Wes, and how about Mark? Is he around you? Blessings , Barb
HI Wayne.......So good to hear from you after all these years. Last month I found and was reading my Corps journal and was wondering about so many things and people. I then found this sight and am excited about these 'blasts from the past'. Why were you here in OC and how and where are you now? Any other Corps still around you that you're in contact with? Some of my favorite memories were meals with JAL entertaining us, and when prayer requests were called in and we'd all pray and later hear about what resulted. That was so good!!! I think I might have been a HQ the end of our first year. Was that when we were with Rick? Blessings to you! Thanks for writing. Barbara
Last I heard Richard & Magi were in Atlanta area but that was several years ago. The last letter I sent them about 3 years ago came back as undeliverable. You can e-mail at my e-mail address on my profile.
So you are back in Bham. I had some good times there -- remember you and Steve raiding the girl's WOW Vet way home -- and Cindy dumping a pot of water out the window on your heads?
I miss the Messers. Sorry to hear about Steve. Other than you, I doubt there is anyone left there that I knew.
I'd left Rome City by the time you were there, ( I graduated in 1978) but it was a special place to me. One of the best years I spent in TWI. Del and Nancy Duncan had a wonderful heart and vision for the Family Corps. It was my favorite campus locale, although if I'd had a chance to go to Gunnison... who knows? Beautiful place and a lot of people seem to have great memories of their time there.
Wonderful that you have bluebirds! We had a cardinal who (thankfully) finally found a mate. Up until that time he spent w-a-a-ay too much time pecking at his reflection in the window. Dunno if he thought it was his competition or if he was just frustrated, but he's a much happier bird now. We have a variety of finches as well.
Need to get the hummingbird feeder hung. It's about that time. I love watching hummingbirds.
