About Me
I returned to New Orleans after leaving the Corps and have lived here since. One of the main reasons why I joined the ministry was to rid myself of the scourge, and so called "possession", of being gay. I tried my absolute best (more than anyone I've ever known) and never felt that I had accomplished this absurd task. Once my eyes were open to the "real" truth I packed The Way in boxes and haven't looked back until recently.
Rhonda was my wife at the time and even though we live our separate lives now we remain very good friends. Our friendship was established well before our Way experience, and if The Way didn't ruin us nothing else will.
I am very happy to be living my life now with my partner here in New Orleans. He moved to the US from Venezuela to further his education and to find personal freedom. He earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering and works in the Oil & Gas industry. We're very happy together and we enjoy an incredibly active and diverse social life. I love my life and the choices I've made. I'm so glad that I'm not involved with religion - even in the slightest way. I now live the freedom I've searched for my entire life and celebrate the joy of living everyday with independent thought.
My Interests
I am always interested in learning more and expanding my mind. When I consider science and all that we know now I believe it's impossible to adhere to the doctrinal messages I've learned from the Bible. I believe we've evolved into the beings we are now and I have a disbelief that a spirit being had anything to do with creating us. It just doesn't make sense to believe that the being that created time, space and even life itself has not spoken to us in 2000 years. Focusing on "this" life makes it more valuable and I now believe there is no afterlife.
My main interest was and still is people. Even after Katrina I still have 35 very close friends that have remained in New Orleans and we enjoy life the best we can.
Second to that I love restoring historic houses, as I have for many years, and I love to work with older materials. I got the travel bug when I was a kid and I take every opportunity (pending finances) to experience different places, cultures and people.
I'm in my 2nd semester at The New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts studying visual arts. This school is unique and the opportunity is rare. We'll see where this takes me, but in the interim I'm enjoying the hell out of it.
And then there's our dog Sophie. Truly interesting!
Employment or Career
After I left the Corps I worked for FedEx for 8 years. After that I waited on tables at one of New Orleans' 5-Star restaurants by night and renovated houses by day. That exhaustive lifestyle supported a greater goal of buying and selling my own investment properties. The most recent acquisition was 5 months before Katrina and it flooded, but thankfully none of the others did. I completed the restorations of that property in August of this year (2007). Thomas Gremillion Properties L.L.C. is my business.
Music I Like
Just about everything that originated from New Orleans. I also like Modern Jazz, Rock, Pop, Classical, R and B, Techno, Electronica, Broadway (show tunes), Vocals, and my favorite, Chill (what's playing now.) If this site was more compatible with ITunes it would be nice.
Books I Like
The Classics, History, Poetry, Emerson, Business, Self-Improvement, Some Fiction...and anything about design.
Television I like
I'm not really all that much on TV. l love information, education and movies, but not really big on series and such. I always feel like I should be doing something creative instead of wasting time and getting fat on my couch.
Movies I like
My all time favorites are Hitchcok's "Vertigo" and the classic SciFi "The Day the Earth Stood Still."
I don't visit this site enough to update recent movies.
Sports Teams I like
LSU Tigers, New Orleans Saints, but not really big on sports.

Happy New Year. Hope you had fun on your trip. I am glad to be home after three weeks, but it was wonderful to be on the road and see all the family. My immediate family loves to go shopping in major metropolitan areas, since things are not so incredibly up-to-date in the fashion scene up here (remember my daughter is almost 16), so we shipped enough boxes back to keep FedEx afloat for at least another month.

You look wonderful and I did try to find you when I was in New Orleans about two years before Katrina. I dropped a note to Rhonda. I remember that wonderful smile of yours and how well dressed you always were.
I like your page is will inspire me to dress mine up as the days go by.
Love in Christ,
Bonnie Kim Campbell
Thanks for the note! Wow, I had no idea that I caused such a kerfuffle in your life. You wrote that, "Everyone we knew in the ministry cut us off and it was quite a stab to the heart, but yours cut a little deeper and it played a big role in my decision to get The Way out of my life totally. I knew I hurt you, and since it was unresolved it stayed with me for years." I will plead total stupidity as it was certainly not my intention to cut you, Rhonda or anybody off...that doesn't mean I am not guilty of it but I don't recall intending too. As far as any issue being unresolved why don't we resolve to resolve it? I'll e-mail you.
Love,
Joy Eastman
P.S. New Orleans in a pickup truck remains one of my favorite memories. You, too, remain dear to my heart.

I like watching Joel. His church is the old Summit where the Rockets used to play. I've heard that they pack them in there too.
Quick question, I have not been over since the flood and I'm curious if one of my favorite restaurants is still around or still good. It was called Jaucqamos sp? , it was on Oak I think.

I'm sure we never met. After a certain Corps number, I didn't really get to know names and faces. I wanted to share with you my love for New Orleans. It is a place very close to my heart. I served as WOW branch coordinator there my interim year which was 1975/76. I fell in love with the city's culture and history, its beauty, the people. I'll have to post some old pics from my time there. The city and its people have always been in my prayers. The morning Katrina hit I was deeply affected. I took out a few of my old pics and posted them at my work place. I send love and kisses to your wonderful city!
Peace to you and your partner~
