About Me

I am 67 and was in the Way Corps in my late 20s. I was born and raised in, and returned to, Morganton, NC in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains....a beautiful place! I love it!

My Interests

I like dogs, hanging out with friends, surfing the 'net, and watching NCIS (old and new). I attend a home church that meets in the Hickory, NC area. It is an independent spiritual assembly not associated with any Way spinoff, but is a spiritual home to many of us who were formerly in the Way, as well as new folks.

Employment or Career

I retired in 2010 from many years of teaching in public school.. I'm really enjoying not having to set the alarm clock. This has been a huge blessing from God for which I am very thankful.

Music I Like

I like 60s/early 70s music and country music. The Temptations, the Tams, and the Four Tops are long-time favorites ... and I like George Strait and Alan Jackson...and of course, Elvis.

Books I Like

I still love reading the Bible and mysteries. I particularly like the Stephanie Plum series and the Joe Grey mysteries (he's a talking, reading, thinking cat). So as you can see, my reading tastes are rather eclectic... from Bible to cat cozy mysteries.

Television I like

I love NCIS, Bob Hearts Abishola. Idiotest, You Bet Your Life with Jay Leno, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and Jeopardy. I also enjoy watching old Matlock reruns and other classic television.

Movies I like

Any movie with a good plot or characters that isn't too scary. Pretty Woman is one of my favorites, as well as The Sound of Music. I like some of the older stuff more than the newest stuff, I guess.

Sports Teams I like

UNC Tarheels - they are my alma mater ... but I don't follow sports closely.

Hey Susan, we're not old. I'm still wondering what to do when I grow up. Mental institutions and psychiatric care have a way of affecting one's life (LOL). The blue person was just a pigment of my imagination -- actually he was from the Blue Man Group. We saw them in Vegas a few years ago.
It will be fun seeing you and everyone else in a few weeks.

Hey Susan, It is great to hear from you , I believe you and I were inMike VanDykes twig at UNC. John fondly rememebers thoses trips to Laurinburg . We have all kinds of horses here. we mostly board other peoples but we own a few of our own. God Bless,

Hard to believe the tulips will be blooming in 6 weeks. 12" of snow still on the ground and temps in the teens. But it is quite an impressive sight when the tulips explode. Hundreds of thousands of them. The whole area turns mega Dutch. Hundreds of dutch dancers fill the streets in all their costumes and wooden shoes during the festival. I mostly lay low and go eat an elephant ear after it's over.

Lots of good folks down there in the Carolinas. My brother lived there for a couple years working for Pete Coad. Just got a nice letter and photo from Joe and Claire (Gallup) Suminski. They live down there somewhere.
