You asked about the weather here and if I like it. I love it. I am a cold weather person. Heat just kills me. Sue however is the complete opposite. She starts to feel comfortable at 80 degrees. She has endured this place now 20 years so she is due for warm weather. lol I grew up here so I adapted real quick when we moved here. Not so for Sue. Cold weather, people are French, no friends up here and no mall, that was the straw that broke the camels back. lol So, Lord willing, in five years we'll be heading south.
Texas has a lot of ex-wayfers. Sue and I saw Theresa McCarver Petrofsky and her husband Jeff, Brenda Roller McCarver and a bunch of other people when we went to San Antonio to visit our son. It was a sweet fellowship. Heck it had been 12 or 13 years since we had last fellowship face to face with friends we knew in the Way.
Sue and I now attend a little Assembly of God church in the area. I tried starting a home fellowship and it basically failed so I gave up and just had fellowship with my family. Sue and I wanted our kids to experience a "church" setting so we began attend this church and we've remain there since.
I was reading Kevin's post to you. What's the Wine Bottle incident"? I don't remember that one.

Amazing that that happened because someone picked up the wrong brief case, the dirty little Rat...
But Rex, I remember you as a very kind hearted guy, and also someone with a desire to fly planes! And to me, the idea of flying planes was/and is just crazy! I have been a Merchant Marine, a marine engineer working on ships plying the briny deep the world over, and I have no problem "crossing the depths", manning the gauges, paying attention to the depth below my keel, etc, BUT, I would never want to be responsible for BEING UP IN THE AIR! If I screw up, at least I have some time to correct my mistakes! But up in the AIR, it seems to me that the "time to correct" is shorter.....
And so, hats off to you Rex! You are flying the "big ones" these days! I remember driving you to the Emporia municipal airort one day so you could go up flying and keep up with your flying time in my weird 1966 Plymouth Valiant with the box on top and the deer antlers. I remember asking you about flying and your offer to "take me up". But, I declined, not having the gas money to donate. But I remember thinking; "This guy's crazy!" But I know you are not, it's just a realm I never felt the need to conquer...
I have flown all around Alaska in Super Cubs, Cessna 206's and Cherokees Sixes though, and have always been thankful that the pilot enjoyed what he did,,,Hah!
Anyway Rex, nice to see that you are flying the Big Ones, and no doubt it has been a fine career. Nice to make money doing what you love...
God bless,
Kevin
Let's catch up more soon.
We really do need to catch up!
Sue and I now live in the most northern town in Maine. We've been here since 1989. We have three kids, all are now out of the house. Two of them will be gratuating from college this May. My son, the oldest is in Tampa. He told me he might end up in Texas because of the job situation. We'll see. My two daughters are in Maine, both teachers.
Sue works part time as a merchandising rep. and I work for Dragon Products, a division of Giant Cement. Our plans are to leave here in five years and move south. Sue has had it with the cold winters here.
Wow, you a pilot, that's great. I chat on occasion with a retired airline pilot from Germany. I met him on "The World of Blues.Com", very interesting fellow.
How long have you been in Texas? I like Texas but Sue doesn't care for it. She lived there years ago and did not like it. She missed her West Va. mountains.
Sure is nice reconnecting with old friends isn't it?
