I Property tax is reasonable, just rolled back last year. My house is appraised at 220,000 and taxes are $1200. Insurance is $900. There are a lot of condos on the market, as well as small houses. Living expenses are probably average when compared to the rest of the country have 2 friends in real estate, so I can get some real info, I can also send you a real estate listing magazine and a newspaper so you can see what is out there. Just send me your address!
We would love it if you deceided to move here, unless you all got mean or something!! Just to catch you up, Nancy goes to a large Baptist church and sings in the choir, I don't go, I can't sit in a huge auditorium with 3000 people. I think they call it agoraphobia. Liz goes to a nondenominational church, I got baptised in the river with her last summer, it was incredible!
My youngest ,Rachel, goes occasionally, as does Abigail. However we all are very committed Christians, our home is open to all and we pray and read bibles!
I don't drink or smoke any more. It will be 8 years in July. It was a miracle deliverance. Nancy likes a drink and so do the girls. Whatever floats your boat is ok with me. as long as it is legal!
Well, That is all for now, Love you guys, Hal
I think I'll do a quick summary, Beautiful place, Theatres, parks, nice neighborhoods, Fort Jackson, Lake Murrary, walking trails, Comgaree Swamp National Park, rich in history, fine southern cooking, only snows about once a year, hot and steamy summers but you get used to it. I think it is easy to freeze to death, you just freeeze, but hot, you have to exert yourself too much to die!....Great old neighborhoods, 150 miles from the beach, 100 miles from the mountains, and 350 from Charleston WV!
Piggly Wiggly grocery stores, local fast food, 3 interstates, you can get anywhere from here!! and the best part.... WE LIVE HERE! Come down anytime and check us out!!
One item, there are alot of black here, all types, just like us whites, I am just telling you this because we who are from WV and Maine can be shocked when we see so many who are differnt looking. Nancy teaches at 2 all black high schools and doesnt think anything of it. Just a fact, no judgement here.
Anyway, hope this helps! Glad you are our friends!!! Many fond memories here, too
Danny was in Way Productions for many years. He was a part of Joyful noise, Branded, Breakthrough, TAKIT, & The Way Orchestra. His style of playing is a lot like George Benson, are you familiar with him? Danny to this day is a very dedicated musician, given the time, he could practise all day long. It has been awesome to see Jesse start to follow in his footsteps. They played at my sister's wedding together when he was 14 and it melted my heart to see the two of them play together for the ceremony. He even looks like Danny did when Danny was his age.
I'm sure you've heard Danny play many times and never knew it. He is on Athlete's of the Spirit, The Way Orchestra tape and the TAKIT album if you ever got it and lots of old Joyful Noise recordings. He also was on the video shows recorded at the Grand Ole Opry, High Country Caravan ??? I think that was the name, it's been too long. You've seen him but just maybe never knew who he was. He is the Guitar player that everyone says looks like Eric Clapton.
Got to run!
Donna
Danny, has been working for Gibson guitars as a Business Developement Manager, (long term for a Sales Rep). He loves Gibson guitars, it is what he chooses to play, so it is right up his alley. He travels the Pacific NW region and Alaska and he is the rep for all of the stores in the area,( Oregon, WA, Northern CA and Alaska).
What does your husband do? I love Dick's smile, he always apppear to be thinking of something humorous. My son is like this, many times he chuckles to himself and you don't even know why, nor does he share what caused him to laugh. It is a wonderful quality though, a merry heart doeth good.
Lovingly,
Donna
I also have some Aunts and cousins around the state too.
We need more people like your family that radiate joy and light!
God bless your joyfilled heart!
Love,
Donna
Well, I gave it a good attempt to add some photos but somehow everyway I tried was unsuccessful :( I will try again another time. I love seeing everyone's family photos. It is like a time warp, all these people we knew BC, before children and now their kids are grown and in careers themselves.
Danny and I lived in Florida for 7 years, in Sarasota. We plan to move back once we are empty nesters. We have some good friends in Tampa. Do you remember the Giles? Paul and Phyllis live there. When we move back we will look up your son, if he is still there. He must of had his fill of cold weather.
I was in Maine once in 1978 helping to campaigne for Hayes Gahagan (sp?).
A little too cold for me, but I enjoyed the warmth of the people and the lifestyle.
Thanks for writing back it is good to reconnect!
Lovingly,
Donna
I saw you here and had to say "HI"! What great family photos! The joy your family live with really shines through. So great to see what a blessed life you have had.
I still remember us being room-mates at Gunnison. I would love to go back and visit. My sister lives in Colorado and many times I see the signs for Gunnison and I so want to take a Detour for it. One day. It is now open for family vacations.
All the very best to you,
Donna
