About Me
I'm married to Christopher Hallett, 15th and 30th Corps, for 22 years and we have 2 girls, Becca 20 and Lily 17. We went through the Corps training with #30 together as a family at Gunnison, 1999-2001 and our assignment was state coordinators for NH/VT/ME. We left that position and the ministry in 2005, but have stayed in Bow, New Hampshire--that makes eight years. We do not participate in any other church, ministry or group
We have two daughters and three cats. My younger daughter, Lily, is an avid rock climber and talented writer and artist. My elder daughter, Becca, is self-starting her modeling career in Boston and enjoying success. We're often in Boston ourselves and think it's a fantastic city.
For myself, I write poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction, as I have time and discipline, and participate in two writers' groups to stay active and connected.
My Interests
Writing and Reading
Gardening
Outdoor activites: walking, skiing, etc.
history, politics and animals
Employment or Career
I am self-employed as a freelance writer and insurance agent. Since coming to New Hampshire, I've also worked fulltime as a non-profit administrator for NH Public Radio and NH Writers' Project.
Music I Like
I like lots of music but could not name any of it -- mostly it's what my daughters put on. I just follow along.
Books I Like
I am a big reader. I love novels and creative nonfiction. I don't do so well with nonfiction that doesn't tell a story. Along those lines I really enjoyed Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert, The Soloist by Steve Lopez, and The Geography of Bliss by Eric Weiner. Too many more favorites to list.
Television I like
The Office is my favorite right now-- I recently watched every show in order through the first 5 seasons so I got the complete stroy line and sequence of events. Not in one day of course. Now I'm waiting for HULU to post all of season 6.
Movies I like
Too many. I was surprised to really like The Hangover. I also like Into the Wild, Little Miss Sunshine, I Robot, 16 Blocks, Lords of Dogtown.....Pulp Fiction is my all time favorite. I can watch comedies like 13 Going on 30, The Devil Wears Prada, Freaky Friday, or My Big Fat Greek Wedding over and over again, especially after a hard day.
Sports Teams I like
The Red Sox and The Patriots of course, though only because I live in New England not because I watch any games.

Thanks for the note. Great to hear from you.
You said on your page that you are a "freelance writer of feature articles on the side." Where might I find any of these articles?
I haven't written any poetry since we were at HQ. It is sort of a by-gone era for me, I guess. I recently started writing some Biblical research type articles and have begun posting them on the blog on my page. I'll add another every couple of months or so. The first one reminded me soooo much of the days when I used to get repeatedly schooled by the editorial department at HQ. The accuracy of the translation depended on the placement (or not) of a comma to indicate a restictive or nonrestrictive clause.
Our son, Rex, (now 19) has in the last year or so turned his attention away from math and science to liturature and writing. He now says he wants to be a professional writer (novels, short stories and such).
Sue sends her love.
Thanks again for the note.
Bless,
Ken

The kind of spiritual transition that you allude to in your bio can either burn you out completely on religion or deepen your relationship with our Heavenly Father as you go to Him for his instuction as to how to proceed in your walk. God loves us even where men and religion fails us.
He never ever ever will leave us or forsake us. Let God's Word speak to your heart and trust in the Lord to send you some other of His children with whom you can fellowship. Most churches will have some Christians who you will connect with. God will guide you to them. Just ask.
I saw an article today in the Hippo with your smiling face and thought, I know her!!! It's been a very long time though. We have lived in New Hampshire for 16 years. You can email us at alivor@comcast.net, (I cannot seem to get the old one on here to change) if you want to get in touch. take care,
