  • Hi LewEllyn.
I hope you had a nice Valentines Day.

Do you still have a copy of that ariticle you wrote on the twigs in RI? I was there in the 1970s. In mid 80s I was in W Germany.
Interesting that you are doing an article on collecting snow mobiles. A good freind of mine was the editor of Minnesota's snow mobile magazine! Her name is Bryn and I mentioned that a friend was doing an article. She got quite animated about the subject. Bryn has offered to help me with the research for my novel.

She and her husband told me about a snow mobile collectors annual gathering in Forest Lake here in Minnesota every year. Apparently vintage snow mobile collectors is a big hobby - I know in New Hampshire they have a musuem for snow mobile collectors - there is also one in New Jersey - of all places.

Well NPR does a nice job of niche reporting.

  • Dear LewEllyn, How nice to hear from you after all these years. Your life now sounds rather idyllic but I can certainly relate to the emptiness and void left by "losing the Way." It took me years to find my footing again. But there are lots of resources out there - especially on the internet - of people who have walked away from a church or group they loved very much but grew disenchanted with. May I recommend that you visit the website of the International Cultic Studies ssoc. (www.icsahome.com) - they have aconference coming up in June at which I'll be speaking. They helped me realize that I wasn't alone in what I was feeling and that there were lots of ex-members who felt the same way. I'm intrigued that you're also a writer. Would love to see some of your works. I'm in CT not far from you. So glad you got in touch. best to you and blessings always, kristen

  • LewEllyn,
So wonderful to hear from you and to hear how great everyone is doing. Your girls are gorgous!! There are some pictures of the boys on our site if you click "view Photos" They are men now, Isaac, almost 26, Britt 23, Bo 19, and Wyatt 16. The older three are in college, Isaac only until August. He went back for his masters.
We LOVE New Hampshire. Last Oct we went to Bretton Woods and stayed at the Mt Washington Resort. What a beautiful state and it has it all. Close to the ocean, mountians.........beautiful fall foliage, lots of snow....moose, we fell in love. Brad wanted to go back to the east coast in the fall so we drove to see the scenery, took day trips to the light houses etc. Had a blast. Went to Mass and saw David and Kristyne Crawley and their boys. It was fun. Sure great to catch up isn't it.
We love you guys, take care and love to Christopher.

  • where I worked, funny cause I didn't!! they hired (US) because of my husbands ability's in carpentry, but mostly in roofing, he re-did all the trailors at HQ, I showed up PG and it was silly to put me to work when they would have had to get me day care, but I was Multi Svc's w/Ron Booze, the 2X I worked that is!!
Anyway I know the empty nesters gig,
IF you get Stephen to look at this site I am sure he would LOVE to see pictures of my oldest son, since he was part of our family in MS in 75. Tell him Jason is 6'4",
he always wanted to be as tall as Stephen,,,,almost but didn't quite make it.

anyway great to see you on here, enjoy,

  • Snowmobiling and ice fishing are the life here in winter.
There are 20,000 lakes here in Minnesota and it has been a wonderful winter here as it has been below freezing since December 6. Right around the town I live in there are a dozen lakes - with ice fishing huts and pickup trucks and snowmobiles parked on them populating these lakes and a sense of community develops in winter here that is not seen anywhere else I have lived. Minnesota Nice is the common theme here and Minnesota nice is spread accross our lakes which look like villages - we have chili dinners and fish frys and yes snow moblile races - figure skating contests - ice sculptures - we love winter.
And this one has been a great one -
A couple nights ago a young man parked his snow mobile in front of the Signature Bar and Grill accross my office - his beautiful black machine idling. He dismounted and ran into the Signature's back door - and running past the Kareoke crooner he dashed out the front door. The patrol car came around the corner of the block and paused looked at the idling machine and moved on, He mounted his black mobile and gunned it when the cop was no longer there. The girls in front of the bar cheered him on as he stood up erect and charged down Central Ave standing up in full liberty.

Have a wonderful day - it would be nice to exchange stories with you.

  • Lewellyn,
Hey, don't feel bad about it. I recognized you, I just couldn't remember where we had the contact. There's a lot more coming back now. Glad to hear your hubby makes beer! It's a good thing he only dabbles in it. Some of us in the hobby are full-fledged. Makes great holiday gifts. Glad to hear you are doing well, and that your daughter enjoys acting. God Bless, Dan.
  • Dear LewEllyn,
What a treat to wake up to. Yes, I remember you at Way Pub. A long time ago, but with a smile.
I see you've decided not to age and have beautiful daughters. Not a bad accomplishment. Your life sounds full. What a blessing. My son heads to college in the fall so much of my energy and focus is helping him stay on track and working with him in his youth group, martial arts and daily life. I teach academic and some physically challenged children in middle school. The state testing begins today. Yesterday, 16 of my guitar students put on a show for a nursing home. Very fun. It is truly good to live in the present, but reconnecting with the past has so many rewards. Thank you for being one.
    Love, Joy
  • Ah, Les Chateax. Granite and black wrought iron. Oh yeah. I lived across Memorial Dr. turned into North Decatur Rd, Right just past the trestle, left on N. Druid Hills, Cross Clairmont, left on Lavista, cross Briarcliff, right on Citadel. Can't believe I remember that. My best friend growing up moved from N. Druid Hills where the radio tower is, out past Pine Lake just before Ingles. I thought it was forever away. Ha. I have a video from Pine lake on my page, check it out.

    Glad to know you!
