LewEllyn Hallett commented on Michael Schiano's blog post Baby, bathwater, bathtub, shower curtain...
"Hard to believe it's been that long, and interesting to read the comments and see where we were. I've evolved in many ways--new degree, new career, a couple of new homes in a couple of states, and my kids well set on their own paths. But none of us…"

LewEllyn Hallett commented on Peter R. Doliber's blog post Update from 2008
"I hope Peter didn't go. I just caught up belatedly with this blog thread and appreciated his heartfelt post very much. I understood (I think) his purpose, or need to communicate his perspective on time spent in The Way. Sorry to bring this thread…"

"Steinbeck is a favorite of mine, going back to high school when I devoured all his books one after another. He had incredible insight into the struggles and heart of the common man, and expressed it so powerfully as you've illustrated here. As…"

LewEllyn Hallett commented on Karl Edwards's blog post First Century Church in the Twenty First, “No Thanks”
"Glimpses into the lives of these men and their daily actions is intriguing, more so to me at this point than word studies et al. However, there are a lot of "if"'s in the post above. We can never know what those books or scrolls were, or if it was a…"

"Wow. You did put effort, study and thought into this topic, Karl. And on that basis alone, I think it deserves respectful response. I do not have time to read the entire second post this morning, but your conclusions are interesting. I do relate to…"

LewEllyn Hallett commented on Karl Edwards's blog post First Century Church in the Twenty First, “No Thanks”
"I feel foolish myself commenting here because I usually avoid posts on Biblical topics--I'm not into Biblical research these days and don't have much to contribute on that score. But on a rare visit to the site, I happened onto Emil's blog where he…"

"Wonderful insights, Sarah, thanks. As a reader, I tend toward novels for reasons she expressed -- I experience people, places, cultures, conditions unknown to me. And it's not a cerebral learnning; it's the heart, bone, blood, and guts of the…"

LewEllyn Hallett commented on Sarah Wilkinson's blog post On the Road Again!
"WOW. People think I move a lot but now I realize I've been pretty stationary. Now I still have this question, tickling around in my head, because a year is barely time to get half the boxes unpacked and you're off again -- Why? What inspires you to…"

LewEllyn Hallett commented on John Richeson's blog post The Spiritual "Cold Shoulder"
"Thanks, Karen, and my thoughts are indeed here where so many old friends and memories are rekindled. However, I actually can rule out God. That was my point, I guess. I've observed that it's difficult for current Christians to accept that Bible…"

    Thank you so much..

  • LewEllyn, I read Little /Bird when you posted in your blog and reread yesterday. It's really stunning, so well crafted catching the beauty and fragility of youth. A delight! K.
  • Thanks, LewEllyn....Be glad to stay in touch...
  • Hi, LewEllyn;

Happy New Year! I am well! I am still job hunting! Please keep that in your prayers. Is all well with you?
    Take care!
    Lynn
  • Hi LewEllyn, Just a quick note to ask how you are doing? How is Lilly doing? Still climbing i hope.If you and she ever come out this way let me know so we could get together at Higher Ground and climb and eat Pizza. Take care and God Bless you.
  • LewEllyn--thanks for your note. I've been a bum not to reply sooner. It WAS a tough time, but God brought me through it, and I love the adventure that life has become.
My reading is not as up-to-date as yours, but I would love to have a chat about books, which are also my passion. I have a ridiculous weekness for children's picture books from the 1930s, too.
I encourage you on your journey. I went through it, myself (am still going through it.) There were several years when I could not stand the word "accuracy," and a few more years when I averted my eyes driving past TWI headquarters. There were many stages in this journey.
I have a new kitchen, now, and would love to have you in it again. Maybe we should have an email exchange...
    Love you!
    Mary
  • LewEllyn,

Thanks for the gracious comments. The Journey continues, as we go from faith to faith, glory to glory, and victory to victory.

    Best regards,

  • We've been in Greensboro since 1989. I have a lot of relatives in Charlotte.
  • Thank you everyone for all your prayers.
This story is a crazy one of God's deliverance. Last monday when I got the call from my sister I text everyone I could and called even more and e-mailed even more people to pray. My sister Martie did the same. Roberto Martinez forwarded my e-mail all over the world and within a short time we had rallied many many to pray. Many of you prayed with your fellowships as well as your private prayers.
In the meantime my brother-in-law, Sam was rushed to the hospital with an excrutiating headache that when they had done a lumbar puncture and found blood in his spinal fluid, concluded that he had had a stroke and moved him to another hospital. When he arrived at St. Josephs hospital, the second hospital, the neurologist said he had already made rounds and would see him tomorrow.
We waited until Tuesday to find out how he was. By tuesday they discovered that the fluid around his brain was seeping out into his spine. They also discovered that he had viral meningitis. He hadn't had a stroke at all. When they did an MRI they discovered that the fluid was seeping from the place that the other hospital had done the lumbar puncture and that during the first 24 hours he had not been seen, all the fluid had drained from around his brain. Everytime he moved his brain was hitting against his skull. They did a blood patch to fix it. When they told him that all the fluid had drained out, they also told him that his brain had swollen and that it had been drawn down into where the brain stem is. It was beginning to cut off the blood flow to his brain. He should have died. The only care he was getting during that first 24 hour time period was the prayers that we were saying. God saved him when the doctors were neglecting him.
This is the power of prayer. He is fine now and has no residual effects from the problems. God is good. The anti-viral medication worked for the meningits and the swelling on his brain is gone. The blood patch held to retain the fluids around his brain and the fluids are replenished. God is very good to his people when we trust him and pray.
I had to share this story with you. I think it is a wonderful example of the power of prayer.
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
    Love,
    Judy
