Kathleen (Farley) Ewonus replied to John Richeson's discussion Closing The Way Corps Site
"Hi John,
So what's the status of this site? Although I don't visit often, it's been a blessing to connect with people more easily than trying to look them up on fb, which often doesn't work to find them.  There used to be songs on this site, are…"

  • Good to hear from afar. It's been crazy busy since school started. I figured you went on that cruise you spoke about. Glad you both had a great time - I'd like to take a slow boat to China about now. I had written a response to your last post but messed it up so it never sent. I'll get to it after a few hours sleep. Bless...
  • long time no speak, how you doin.we have just got back from our cruise to Hondurus. We had a blast.write soon, Bob.p.s.met up with Rob Agsten in Florida.Had a really nice visit with him.
  • I knew Gloria quite well.I think she left the Corps during our first year but I recall staying at her place in the Bronx on my way back to England.Bruno I did not know so well but I remember some strange incident took place when he and Linda Darden were hitching to LEAD.They both left shortly after that.MALPAK.Now that was a strange time. All I remember was a meeting, top floor of wierwille, listening to a phone conversation between 2 people, one being military.I couldnt understand what was being said because the reception was poor. The next I remember was people freaking out and buying camping equipment.Apparently the rumour was the country was about to be taken over by commis or lesbians or something.I wasnt quite sure because I couldnt hear the damn tape.Consequently I didnt believe any of it so I didnt buy squat. And as far as I know we didnt get taken over.By the way were we in the same malpak group? And where were we heading?Annie just told me she was heading for CA with the Shirleys. Some people have all the luck.I vaguely remember being told to keep hush about where we were going and who with.Golly gosh........such happy memories.By the way Kathy were we in the same twig with Gary Matsuk our first year.He was a cool guy and I think he is on this site.I should send him a note. I sent a message to John Lynn a while back which was a bit odd because I dont think Ive uttered one word to him ever.I said you may not remember me but I am the only Englishman that was not in "Agape"Anyway I just wanted to give him a hard time because his basketball team was being trounced by mine(Warriors)Thats all for now,God bless, Bob.
  • By the way it was not a domestic stingray. There is an area just a few miles off the coast of the cayman islands where the rays for the past 50 years have come to feed. The water is shallow due to the sandbar and the rays started going there because the fishermen would clean their catch there. Now they come because the tourists feed them.By the way what does Rick do for work.Is he a Dr?Oh yes I know this may sound unbelievable in this age of email, texting etc etc but there is still the US mail if you happen to come across those pics.My one regret in life is that I didnt take pictures during those years in residence.Your idea of a type of yearbook would be great. We have been faithful to take lots of pics of our kids as they grew up and also some movies and they are absolutely priceless to us today.By the way talking of Drs I have a great story of some miraculous healing that took place just recently but I will leave that for another day when I am not so tired. So thats all for now .Bob

  • OMG allof a sudden floods of memories are coming back about lightbearers.I hitched with Lamar to Hot Springs. We made good time although I remember being concerned about Lamar. She had a bit of a skin problem and I thought she was going to flake to death before we got there. I remember the wet weather and the hot drinking fountains in the street.I dont remember doing any witnessing but I do remember our twigs.I had forgotten John Reynolds was with us.I really liked him.Didnt he become a bigshot in the Way after the passing of the patriach.?I remember him being a really successful business man and had been in the word less than a year before he went in residence. Then there was Dana Lynn. She had a reputation for being a zealot.I think that was just an act .I liked her too.But my most vivid memory is one night and we were all in the living room, lights out trying to sleep and I told this joke."What is green all over and has 4 wheels?...........grass, I lied about the wheels. I also remember the couple whos house we stayed in Sam and Linda Marsh. They moved out here some years later.Who was the other 8th Corps person that came with us.Kathy I would love to see the pics you have of that time. Also where did you go the second year?I went to Kalamazoo with some family Corps......had a blast, we had the oldest and youngest Corps in our group.Ok I have got to get away from the computer. My youngest is 13 today so he is about to open presents.God bless, Bob.
  • I have a story about the stingray. Two days before that pic was taken Steve(the crocodile hunter)Irwin was killed by one.Needless to say there was an abundance of paranoia about swimming with them, but ,except for the lethal tail, they are harmless and lots of fun.Just like playing with a lion.If it wasnt for the teeth and claws they too would be fun to play with. Now info about the kids.Robert is actually only 4 feet nine but Annie has been shrinking after she hit 50.Robert is about to start community college, he hasnt a clue what he wants to do eventually. He will probably transfer to a univercity after 2 years like William. He is going to Sandiego state.Stu and Ian are still kids.My prayer for my kids is quite simple. That they make decisions in the light of the Word and that they find a wife as good as mine.Wehave a set of bootleg PFAL tapes in our area so our kids have sat through it twice and have all SIT.It seems like we are of the same mind about the Way as you are.Incredibly thankful for Dr Wierwilles life and ministry but had it in the right perspective.Drs perspective.PFAL is a great foundaton but was never the be all and end all of biblical research. When the ministry began to implode around us it really was not the end of the world at all.And we are still surrounded by great men and women of God who still endeavour to put God first.I have nothing but fond memories of my time in the Way Corps.I feel privelaged to have experienced something so unique. Thanks for taking the time to write, its fun to remember old times.Id be curious to hear your thoughts on our lightbearers in Hot Springs.Do you remember much at all about those 2 weeks?Thats all for now,God bless,Bob.
  • So what did you think of Aruba? After this trip coming up I may be done with the carribean for a while.I fancy the south pacific for Annie and me but too expensive to take the kids.Already 2 of the 4 are into doing their own thing and it wont be long before none of them will want to go with Mom and Dad.Our eldest son has been all over the place by himself. He is studying languages and spent last summer in China teaching mini communists how to speak English.I feel somewhat obligated to visit England relatively frequently what with my Mom and sibblings being there. So maybe next year for that .England is horribly expensive these days although the flight over is not so.In the spring we can usually get a roundtrip ticket from the west coast for under $500 and our accomodation gets taken care of .We all move into my sisters house and she and her husband stay with my Mom.Did you ever meet my sis.She was at the ROA a few times.Thats all for now,Annie says hi.Do you see any other Corps at all?God bless,Bob.
  • Well done , the pictures are very good, you have quite the handsome group. The island sure looks exotic, where is it.I noticed your daughter had a teeshirt with Aruba on it .Did you have a holiday there?By the way whats a tumbler?Keep in touch, Bob.
  • Actually the correct spelling for aargh is aarrgh.
