About Me
I got out of the way in 1986 after the infamous clergy meeting. At that time I realized I had no need for a spiritual belief based on any absolute truth. Since then I'm healthier, wealthier, and wiser - well happier anyway - I'll leave it to others to decide if I'm wiser. I consider myself a cultural jew (as I was brought up) and an atheist till proven otherwise. My apologies to anyone I led astray in those way years.
Back in 2005 I posted my story on Andrew Tobias' web site. You can read it here http://www.andrewtobias.com/newcolumns/050720.html
Some of you know I married Wendy Gross (10th corps) we had 2 boys - both native Texans, which is kind of strange for two jews from the north east.
We split up in 1997 and I've been with Denise since 1998 (married in 2003). Denise goes by Dee and I tell people she married me for my name (say it out loud and you'll get it). We have no kids together but between us we have 5. Currently (2008) four are in college and our youngest is a high school senior. Luckily when she graduates high school, the two oldest will graduate college so it's all down hill from here.
Employment or Career
I'm an entrepreneur, business coach, and an angel investor (that means I invest in start-up companies; nothing spiritual about it).
I have to thank Duke Clarke - back in the early 1980's when he was my way boss in California, he started reading business books at our leader's meetings to bring up our sales numbers, I mean PFAL numbers. Anyway I fell in love with business from then on.
Music I Like
Oldies (from 50's and 60's) especially Doo Wop. Also western swing and almost anything with a catchy tune.
Books I Like
I read mostly business books (even though most should be articles not books) and some history. Fiction I like mostly Spenser novels by Robert Parker.
Television I like
Daily Show and Colbert Report

FB is a way for me to have some fun with people I don't get to see often enough. Actually, some of them I never get to see.
I haven't thought about the cult for quite some time. Except for the occasional nighmares that I used to have, that I would have to go back in-residence. I recently read Passing of Patriarch. I literally was laughing out loud at different parts of it. It's so funny to think how seriously all that stuff was to people and here I am reading it in 2009 and thinking I could probably sell it to SNL.
Karl Kahler is on this site. He wrote the book "The Cult That Snapped". Haven't read the book or contacted Karl but thought you might be interested. Do you know any old ministry people living in Connecticut. We were good friends with Scott and Diane Williams and my husband still keeps in contact with Scott. They live in New Haven. I usually judge people by how well they handle it when i nonchalantly call the ministry a "cult". Somehow I don't think you'll mind. Have a good one, lois
My husband and I are both from the Bronx and live in Michigan for the last 20 or so years (it was our last corps assignment). My oldest daughter Allison, lives in Austin, Texas. Where do your boys live in Texas. I'm facebook friends with a couple of people on this site. I'll look to see if you're a fb person. Have a good one, lois
