"Hey Randy,
Flattery will get you ... I don't know, depends on what mood I'm in. Frankly I don't remember that at all - but it's been a while and I'm not into the bible anymore. Sorry for any error I propounded - even though you may not think it's in…"

"Michael - your name sounds familiar too, but I can't place it . It was a long time ago. I agree most folks didn't really get out - they just changed seats. Hopefully to ones where the abuse is not so blatant but still it's a mind-fuck in my opinion."

"Hi Tim,
I really loved those days in Washingtonville. Looking back it seemed so pure and innocent. Too bad it was so misguided. I don't know what happened to Schlosser. But I do know that many of the people I looked up to in those days seem very…"

  • would really like to get in touch with Wendy, can you help me out?
  • Hey John, There's Austin and then there's Texas.
FB is a way for me to have some fun with people I don't get to see often enough. Actually, some of them I never get to see.
I haven't thought about the cult for quite some time. Except for the occasional nighmares that I used to have, that I would have to go back in-residence. I recently read Passing of Patriarch. I literally was laughing out loud at different parts of it. It's so funny to think how seriously all that stuff was to people and here I am reading it in 2009 and thinking I could probably sell it to SNL.
Karl Kahler is on this site. He wrote the book "The Cult That Snapped". Haven't read the book or contacted Karl but thought you might be interested. Do you know any old ministry people living in Connecticut. We were good friends with Scott and Diane Williams and my husband still keeps in contact with Scott. They live in New Haven. I usually judge people by how well they handle it when i nonchalantly call the ministry a "cult". Somehow I don't think you'll mind. Have a good one, lois
  • Hi John, I just read your story on Andrew Tobias' site. Couldn't agree more! Originally from the Bronx, NY and Jewish, 8th. Corps. there were many times I wondered "what the hell am I doing here"? i was surprised to find other people on this site who thought the way I do now. It would be interesting to see the kind of response you would get if you posted your story on this site as a "blog".
My husband and I are both from the Bronx and live in Michigan for the last 20 or so years (it was our last corps assignment). My oldest daughter Allison, lives in Austin, Texas. Where do your boys live in Texas. I'm facebook friends with a couple of people on this site. I'll look to see if you're a fb person. Have a good one, lois
  • Will never forget you teaching at A Day In The Word?? on the Hebrew word, "marpe". A super lesson in why Word Studies are so needed to understand God's Will. Thanks for that...I have taught it to many others over the years and always give credit where credit's due.
  • You still have your sense of humor : ) That gen-yoo-ine "I don't take myself too seriously and neither should you" humble kinda thing. I always liked that about you. That and you were truly a nice guy. Fun to be around, too.

    Regards,

    Kathy
  • mind fuck i agree
  • to say the least!

honestly, i can't believe anyone still plays in that sandbox. but that's just me.
  • John: I'm not sure if we knew each other in the way or not. I feel like we did, but can't pinpoint why. anyway, i read your story on andrew tobias' website. i thought it was a good perspective. your conclusion was especially well put. i'm curious to see what kind of reception you'll get around here. i've personally been surprised--and a little disappointed--to see how few of us jumped ship.

    good luck!
