  • I'm thinking of that old country tune "One day at a time, sweet Jesus"..."I'm only human, I'm just a woman, help me believe in what I could be and all that I am..." Life is good and getting better one day at a time. I'm working on getting back to my writing this year, among other things. Have some poetry latent within me struggling to emerge, and an inspirational romance novel waiting for rewrites. Just have to make the time.

We have so very much to be thankful for, don't we? I see we have several friends in common, and of course I remember your brother Scott. I admire your commitment to become a teacher in order to spend more time w/your kids. We only get one shot at motherhood, and we have such an impact on our kids' lives...not something to take lightly. You go, girl! God bless! ~ Chere
  • Happy Belated, Holly! Hope you had a great one. God bless ~ Chere Poole
  • Holly! Accellerated Transmutation of waste! You go, girl! So your brother is still in the club, eh? How are your parents? It's nice to see your smiling face. Aric and I live in Columbia MO for last 10 years. My boys are 16 and 13. Both cute and smart. You coming to the 2010 reunion cruise? Let's bring the kids!
  • Happy Happy Birthday!!!!!! How did I not remember your birthday is right after mine? I have decided that I am now 20 19. Sounds better to me than 39. I miss my buddy! I pray you are hanging in there okay!
  • Hello Holly!! Long time no see. yup, you guessed right I'm the long hair, latino hippie you came to know in NJ when your dad was I believe the vp of the way in NJ. As you probably remember Joanne and I got married, after a year as a WOW in Chile. Then we moved to Chile as Country coordinators to come back to good ole USA. Thanks for contacting me. Sorry for the delay, I wasn't aware of couple of messages. I also love to know you're truly a geek! I love geeks. I was for about 6 years president of RealMedia Latin America and that's where i met and dealt with a whole bunch of geeks constantly. You'll are "a peculiar people". Some like you in thae biblical sense as well. I'll tell Joanne as soon as I see her today!
    Love you!

  • We had a busy weekend. The girls had their last regular swim meet on Saturday--noisy. Molly finally made the "swimmers of the week" category because she had two big drops in swim times. She's a great swimmer, but is too tiny to be really fast so far (she's going to be 14 in April and is about 5' 3" and a whopping 92 pounds and a size 00, but is stll growing.)

Sunday we had a fellowship in the morning, and went to visit someone in a rehab centre in the evening. He ended up entertaining my kids the entire visit, which blessed him a lot. I came on the computer to put holds on some music for Molly's history project (she wants to do the Underground Railroad, so I thought she should listen to some of the code music) and since I haven't been on for a couple of days am catching up. I haven't been on this site in about 4 days. Lydia just finished English and Molly is doing history. Bjorn gets the morning off, but we usually do school in the afternoons in the winter so I can get some work done. It doesn't take more than a couple of hours to do his academics (no time wasted for behavioural issues or having to wait while the teacher explains several different ways to help kids with different learning styles.) My girls need longer, of course, as they're in middle school.
  • Thanks for the suggestions on high school. Social reasons were one of the main reasons we pulled her out of school after second grade, but plan to have her take a few courses at our local high school when we get there. Specifically later lab science courses and/or else AP courses. Perhaps Latin, which she wants to take for her language. She needs to know how to take a lecture course, for sure, although she doesn't think so yet;). I did a lot of research into what makes a homeschooled high schooler successful in college, since I'm sure that homeschool education varies at least as much as public school education does in terms of quality and rigour. She had some bad habits develop in public school, which we've been undoing since we brought her home. But, as you said, every student is different. If she decides at some point to switch to full time public school part way through, she has that option here as well.

Three more semesters--the end is in sight for you! You've been through a lot since I last saw you, but God is always good and always faithful. I think it's great that you're doing this, and am always happy to see faithful people become teachers. It's a lot to raise three children as a single mother, so you have a very full plate.
  • Holly,
A lot has happened over the years, but we are doing well. I am more blessed now than ever.

I'm impressed with all your science stuff--I have one who starts high school xt year and wants to do it at home--and she wants to be a science major. I never did study Physics or Calculus. Funny how when we were inresidence I never knew that about you (but how much never came up, right?)

  • Hi Holly, It's been a long while since we emailed. I love seeing your beautiful family, Looks to me like their shining faces comes from the Christ within.

I just had major surgery in my spine last Weds. and I am still pretty drugged up and enjoying it. I needed to have 2 vertebrates repaired and new discs as my real ones blew all over the place. Well anyway, So please send some prayers to God on My behalf. I Liked your Blog.

God bless you and love to you
