"A friend is someone whose face lights up when they see you, who likes you as you are, and has no plans for your improvement."
It is a perfect definition. I tell the story too:
You returned from a "Weekend in the Word" in Chicago and told me that you spent the entire time in your hotel room. I asked if it was worth it, and you said it was. You spent the time reading about friendship, and what made it worth it was discovering that definition of a friend. That was thirty years ago, and I still replay the clip in my mind.
I'm happy to have been your friend. You added a lot to my life.
So great to hear about Dottie. Elaine Rose keeps me posted ..They keep in touch by Facebook... Isn't it wonderful to know that Mark and Sigrid will be her in-laws? God is so good.. I just spoke with Elaine,(sister) and she said ya'll had a wonderful visit on the phone.. You blessed her so much.. Getting back to Dottie moving to Sarasota..that'll be a real sacrifice(lol!!!!!)..We spent 10 days there last summer with John's baseball team. That place is gorgeous.. Mike and Judy Magel came to one of John's baseball games..bless their hearts..it was a "very" hot day. They were wonderful..had us over later for supper..just enjoyed their fellowship so much...They are a hooot!! So much fun...
We are travelling, rather, I am, with JOhn this summer. He is on a showcase team with the Carolina Cubs. They will be playing 6 weekends in June and July..Just don't know their schedule yet.. ELlie coaches a 16U girls' softball team with TEAMTFS . He absolutely loves it.. He will be travelling with his team too. So, during the summer, we usually are going different directions.
Elaine and John both want to go to TEEN Camp this summer but don't know if John's schedule will fit with that week or not. ELaine has never been able to attend CAmp because of softball tournaments, but she will not be doing that this summer. She is so excited about coming to Teen Camp! Since she has decided to focus on N.C.State, she will not be doing the softball thing. She had a scholarship offerred to her from a smaller private school in Greensboro. Because of several factors, she decided she didn't care for that school. WE are very glad she chose N.C.State. It's only 30 minutes from our home.
You know you have a special place in my heart. Love to you and if there is anything that we can do for you or your family, we are here.
We are looking forward to Kevin's visit in April. Please tell Kevin how blessed I got with the latest teaching from CFF on Memorizing Scripture.. Good stuff!!
Love you..much...Vickie
So thankful for your life and your writings. I have learned alot from them. I don't think we've ever met...but I have been wanting to ask you a question for many years...It is very simple .... can you recommend any body or book regarding the significance of the use of color in the Bible? For some reason , after reading God's word in Culture, I figured you just might know.
Thank you and love

I had to say hello when I saw you were on this website. I have always admired you and your work and continue to refer to "God's Word In Culture." I have read from it often to our kids ...Ellie is not one for getting on this website, but I know he would want to say hi to you.. He always speaks of you kindly.. We live about a mile from Ellie's mom and five miles from my parents. We certainly cherish our parents and are so thankful for them. I know the past eight years have not been easy for you. You are my prayers and thoughts. Love to you and your family..God bless you! Vickie
We love you and think of you often. Katie got your birthday greetings. Alice took a job in Fort Wayne, so she'll be moving in a couple of weeks. We sure enjoy your visits and look forward to them.
Love, Dan and Katie

I'm glad you "flew "south for most of the winter. I am so glad you were with wonderful Sylvia. I am looking at the earth daily to see signs of Spring...I know it is too early but snowdrops bloom early. I can hardly wait for my profuse daffodils! They lasta long time too! Well, we will be in touch by GOD's grace.
Love, Marion
