About Me
Since graduating the highlights of my life have been my ordination in '82, marrying the greatest woman in the world (previously Teresa Linnemann) in '84, the birth of our Sophie in '85 and the birth of Lauren in '86. Our move to Scotland in '87. Since then the highlights are too numerous to mention. Being baptized in the Jordan last year was pretty special and my daughters wedding two weeks ago was just too much.
I have been involved in the things of God since leaving the Way Corps but these last ten years I have found a depth of relationship I never really knew before. I serve locally here in Crieff, teaching, playing music and pastoring around 130 wonderful believers.
My Interests
To please my Heavenly Father. To attempt to follow in the steps of my Saviour. To grow in the things of the spirit by being more aware of His presence.
To spend time with God in prayer
To spend time with Teresa in prayer
I love spending time with Teresa and the girls. Any time spent with them is precious!
I love to read usually Christian books or business books. Books that can impact lives.
I love playing my guitars of which my McPherson is by far my favourite.
I love to lead worship music and I play in a band called "born to worship" and we play all over Scotland.
I love golf and play to a handicap of 10 and I have recently has the joy of two hole in ones. (Lucky or what!!)
I love helping people especially those who have become lost in life or at least have found their wheels spinning.
I love to help couples get back to loving each other
Employment or Career
I have no real qualifications that would impress anyone. I studied Engineering at Stockport University but I am not an engineer, yet God has allowed me to find favour in the eyes of men. I started in sales when no longer having a job in the ministry in 1984 and I became good at what I did. I love meeting people and presenting solutions so sales was perfect for me. I also understood and acted on what we were taught that Leaders are Readers. I began to read and practice my skill and God did the rest. I have had the joy of building businesses with others since 1984 and have been on the Executive team of 4 companies who all grew from small concerns to valuable enterprises which eventually sold for over $300m each. Doing this while still maintaining my integrity and my Christian faith and attempting to balance my home life has been an incredible challenge. I now run my own consultancy practice called CAPSIUM (Creating a Passion Starts In Understanding Me) . Who we are is so much more important than what we do. God made us human beings not human doings. Who you are reflects the nature of what is inside you. If Christ is "in" and that is what you nurture then Christ is what will be seen on the outside in everything you do. As leaders we must set up the atmosphere in our enterprises so that we can nurture the nature of what we are all about. I am developing a Leadership Training company with my new son in law often referred to in his field as the "bird whisperer". We called the company The Way of the Eagle. It is based on principles in the book of Proverbs. We teach such things as vision, being honest regarding where you are and where you want to go in life, releasing your God given "creativity", finding your compass for what you are here on earth to do, keys to working as a team to accomplish outstanding results, the need for patience and persistence and communicating clearly so that the other person understands what you are saying. We do this with the use of a team of 15 wild birds from Bengal eagle owls, falcons, harris hawks and golden eagles. The use of wild birds to demonstrate the leadership principles really helps to solidify the concept in the mind of the students and it is a lot of fun.

How very typical that your comments ministered to my heart. Indeed God's ways and thoughts are so far above ours, and our joy will be found when we align our desires with His. We certainly don't pray to be broken - and yet in brokenness I have learned more about God than if I had not experienced it. I am thankful for so many things, not least my beautiful children. What a privilege to be a parent ! David is about to turn 16, and still wants to play soccer for England (actually he said if they won't have him, he will try out for Scotland !!!). Isabelle, my little flower, is now 13 and just adorable (of course)!
I was fascinated to hear about your baptism in the Jordan. WOW!!! That must have been quite an experience. You will have to tell me more about that some time.
I don't get over to the UK much these days, but I often think of all my wonderful brothers and sisters over there. I have very precious memories of the times I have been with you and Teresa - love you lots and look forward to spending etermity with you. Come quickly, Lord Jesus.

Is Iain your brother?

Love you Don
Thank you for being you. Please give my love to your brother and sister.
only by grace,

Thanks for sharing the booklist. I'd read many of them and they each have some golden nuggets for life. Now I just finished Getting Things Done....that's a great book...made me nervous in the middle of it as I realized ALL the stuff to put in the in basket....but i can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The Power of the Tongue was exceptional, everything we already knew in one book. Steve and I have especially enjoyed a video by Andy Andrews.
Our son has been playing the bagpipe now for about 9 years. He plays with the NC State Pipes and Drums, does some weddings, funerals and an annual Presbyterian Kirking. Thought of you through the years when I would hear the pipes.
Love to all yours....
Wow, I have thought of you so many, many times through these years, always with the fondest memories. You are so precious to me.
It is so wonderful to see you are flurishing in God's goodness. Not surprised, just thrilled.
I forgot you married Henrik's (Bo) sister! I have been looking for Val and Henrik, can you pass my info to them as well. I love you and miss you all so much!
More to come,
Elizabeth
