About Me
I will start with my wife and then go to kids:
Roberta is my best friend. She is also an answered prayer. God told me to go to a specific Inn and I would meet my wife there. I went and that is where Roberta was. When I saw her eyes I said if she is a beautiful on the inside as her eyes are she is the most beautiful women I have ever seen. Roberta has a heart of love that touches all she meets with grace and hospitality. She has loved me like none other on earth and she does the same for family and friend. She is a great mother, an artist, a singer but most of all she seeks after God with a tender heart. Everyone that knows us call me a blessed man. I am.
We have been married for 16 years. When we met we were both single parents, she had a nine year old named Jaqueline, and I had Matt who was 7 and Kate who was 5. On our first date Jacqueline said to me,l " You are going to marry my mom, aren't you?" Jacqueline and I picked out the engagement ring together ;-) We have two more childern together, Luke and Dov.
Roberta's Dad is 91 her Mom is 81 they have been married for 61 years. Her Mom was a war bride from Holland, her Dad was a gunner in a B 17 and has lived in one town all his life. My mother said they were the nicest people she had ever met. She was right!
Jacqueline born 6 23 81, is a tender and vivacious soul. She studied art in school, worked at ESPN programing music for all their stations. She is living in LA pursing art looking for work in the music industry and praying for direction to fulfill her purpose
Matthew James 4 17 83, is thoughtful, reflective and prayerful, he recently graduated from the New School in New York with a degree in Philosohy. He is an editor in a start upfilm company learning the basics. He is planning on getting his masters from the London Film School and produce filme that make a difference. He is also completing the cirriclum of learning to make more money than you spend and doing a great job.
Katherine Lee - 1 10 85 Kate just graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Trinity College with a degree in Relegion. She focused on relegious communities and their impact during times of war. She is currently interning with an international non profit called Lawyers Without Borders, focused on dealing with human rights issues world wide. She had dedcided to go to law school. Hope she can pay for it! ;-)
Rachel Ashton Dougherty 4 20 89 Rachel lives with Mom, Connie Samet Dougherty. She is a sweet girl that has the heart of a champion in overcoming challenges. Rachel was born with a genetic condition called gluteric acedemia. Her Mom provides her daily care and has loved Rachel every day of her life. Rachel and Connie have taught me great lessons about love, forgivness adn courage.
Luke 4 27 93 is a really sensitive kid with a gentle heart. Luke is a miracle child. He was born having siezures and diagnosed with cerebal palsy. Luke was healed while in intensive care. Roberta dedicated him to God and did not cut his hair so when people would ask about it, she would witness the miracle of his healing. At 9 Luke had enough cut his waist long hair and gave it for a wig for a women with cancer. He is now almost 6' at 14 years. He loves animals, snowboarding, quiet walks with God in the woods and video games
Dov - Benjamin Joseph 6 7 96...Dov is the sweetest kid I have ever known...he is so connected to people, he is the student mediator in his class, he always is checking on how his brothers and sisters are. He has a deep love for his mother....he is a child with a ministry of tenderness and love he is a joy to be around
My Interests
Well it has been a wild journey. I have gone from being in the ministry to being a single parent with a three and one year old and painting houses so I could be with them, to a father of six and doing management consulting. and traveling around the world.
At the end of the movie Jeremiah Johnson, his mountain man mentor says to Jeremiah Jahnson, "You have came a long way pilgrim" he responds, "feels far". I feel like I have come a long way but there is still much to learn and much living to do.
I think what is most true for me is that while in the Way in the Corps I thought I was getting the education I needed to know God and lead people for the rest of my life....and I have relied on the essence of what I was taught at Emporia throughout my life. I have made adjustments and built upon that foundation.
My heart for God has not changed a wit. I still seek after the God...love being in his prescence, seek his guidance and rejoice in His blessings....but my world is much different. I have worked hard to learn life lessons in all areas....I have learned much but still have many questions....I still seek truth....I have worked hard to learn from mistakes ....learn about the need for honesty, love, forgiveness, speaking the truth with out fear of repriasal....I believed I needed to have all the answers....now I try to listen more than direct, encourage more than challenge accept more than critique...in the end lthe greatest of these is love and that is what I and those I know need most and it is love that brings to want to reconnect with the corps.....
Employment or Career
While being a single parent I painted new construction homes. When I got married Roberta and I started Kainos Partners and we marketed Saving's Programs to kids in elementary school called Save for America. We had good success but suddenly Roberta was pregnant....how did that happen and she found an ad in the paper looking for people who want to make a difference in others lives. The owner was a christian who had a company doing leadership training. We develop a leadership class called Coaching with Vision based on the principles of faith, hope and charity the three core need in all people. We taught it at corporations around the country. as we did I saw that leaders needed more that a presonal vision and effective communicatioin skills (we developed a great course called leading by listening) but they needed to have honest and empathic conversations about strategy, operations and the effectiveness of their team. My partner did not want to do this work so I started Synergy and was able to work teams at all levels of large corporations. I spent several years working with the President of Pratt & Whitney doing special projects, developing the strategic planning process, working in engineering, manufacturing, military, commericail and space divisions. The humor to me is I have an associates degree in Theology fron a non accredited college but the opportunities that God opened for me are a dream come true.
I now want to do MAD media ...which is media that makes a difference. I have been working to align mission driven investors, leaders and media opportunities. I believe this is the right next step. I am praying daily for the right opportunites and the right team and would appreciate prayer.

I am interested in your comment about your wife's father being a B-17 gunner. A few years ago I had a brief e-mail exchange with a former B-17 commander and pilot a couple years before he died. My parents were both in the Navy during WW II , and I am a history buff of that war.
She is back in school on her 2nd B.A.-a 15th month intense nursing program at Cleveland State. She has 4 children- one at home in high school still.
I just moved to Florida to stay with my brother and his family. I went back to school for an accounting degree and I went back for my master's in International management. Just filed for divorce from Dan - a long story. We have one beautiful creative daughter who writes music compositions, sings and is a performance artist. She has 3 yrs of college and is now looking to finish her music degree at a conservatory.
So glad you are happy. Nancy and I still love God and study His Word every day.
I'd love to talk with you sometime. I'm also looking for work her, hopefully, traveling and able to use my accounting and management skills.
Take care,
Pam
As I was reading this email from you I thought to my self how once again your inspiration and timing was impeccable. All your kind words and wonderful things that you said to me in meant so much. As I recall, that is what you are all about and what you do best. You inspire, comfort, encourage, love.......I have always valued our friendship and years and miles will never change how I feel about you.....sometimes silly, playful and off the wall, but all these things make you truly unique. God bless you and your beautiful family.
You are as handsome as ever with a little more gray in your hair (lol) and I've always been inspired by you and have the fondest memories.
I pray that God will bless all your future endeavors. I love you.
