You are the most boring person I ever met. Good God, man - get a life, will you? Do something meaningful for a change. And lighten up, too. Talk about trashing someone twenty years ago - how about the way you ran housekeeping? Huh? Can you…"

  • You are still one of my favorite people. You know that. Thanks for the best time I had on staff with The Only One. Hope to see you all sometime soon. Melanie
  • When I ask "Remember me?" I already suspect you won't so I shouldn't ask! There's really no reason I can think of that you should remember me.so that's okay. I was on Staff 1985-1995. I worked in Way Pub and Way Magazine. We must have had some common friends because I knew of you but I can't now think of the specific connections now. I recognized your name, read your page and just wanted to say Hi. I did remember your interest in the theater.
  • Hi, Dan. Remember me? So you're still in New Bremen, and teaching theater. That sounds like a very cool gig. One of my daughters is an actress, among other things. That is such a wonderful realm for kids. And you make beer--I'm all for that. My husband dabbled at it and has all the equipment, but nothing brewing currently. Our love to you all.
  • Thank you, Dan, for the compliments. Is Ellen in the photo? And speaking of photos, do you have some recent family shots anywhere on this site? Who are the x-way staffers who hung together there in the New Bremen area with you? I have loved growing up in the Lord and getting to know Him better over the years. It is a rich and intensely gratifying relationship -- a true romance that keeps my heart ablaze. I am so thankful to have friends like you all over the world that love Him too. That just fans the fire, baby! I'm so happy you can SEE again. All things are new, eh?
  • Do I look like a teenager in the 11th Corps photo or now??? Could it be that "poor" eyesight is a blessing in disguise? I do remember Ellen being pregnant right at "the end" -- a new beginning for you. It's hard to believe it was 25 years ago?! So tell me, do you go to a church or do you teach or attend fellowship meetings in a home setting? I've heard home "fellowships" called "cell" groups (Calif). The church I attend calls them "care groups". Most large churches have them for some form of "intimacy" and a "safe place", etc. It's all good to me! I like everything that glorifies Jesus Christ, cause Jesus is just all right with me! :) I'm sure it's challenging to incorporate the arts and theatre with all it's mystic and mythical charms with Christianity -- but the truths throughout history tell the old old story in so many ways, that I bet the challenge is much more exciting than exasperating (if it ever goes there). I'm dancing in a jazz "group" (for fun and exercise) in a small studio called the Delaware Arts Conservatory. Music is such a powerful, moving energizer. Actually, the worshp service at the church I attend is so incredible that by the time the Word of God is preached, I'm mushed (and ready for it and some more mascara). Sure would love to have one of your beers with you and Ellen! Love you (and thank you for writing to me), rita
  • Dan,
A copy of The Nephilim is en route. Let me know what you think when you've read it. Imagine living 5 miles from HQ? It all happened so long ago now, and so much has happened with us since...Someone said once, the past is a foreign country. But I have to say, I feel free. And I have done for years now having swung all over the place for some years in between. But I do have some great memories of good times while in the Corps.

I see Ruth Rott is writing to you. I must drop her a line. She and her husband we great fun.
    Talk soon,
    Paddy
PS I don't believe you actually remember that play? All I can remember is the crowd laughing when I walked on looking like an Irish version of Shaft...
  • Thanks for telling me about this site Dan. What fun to find people!! Course, I'm not getting anything done with moving like I'm supposed to .... but ... guess the break is good for me right?
  • Dear Dan,

We live in Germany. I teach violin and English part time. Friedrich teaches violin full time and we both still get to play off and on in classical settings.
Martin, 24, is married, has two kids 4 and 9 months, and studies at 2 universities in Mannheim: major drums and minors: piano, arranging, production. He has a brilliant CD but its in German! His wife is from Russia and is a singer.
Wish I could get Maureen´s address. Someone said they´d send it but didn´t. Would really like to thank her for loving me when I needed it most.
We´ve done about everthing there is to do in the Christian scene in Germany and now get to serve in a church the size of a fat Twig. Friedrich pays violin. Man, you should hear him improvise - and I preach and teach more and more. Women and Bible has not been allowed here for so long but the ice is melting and I´m privileged to do my tiny part.
Anita is 21 and is learning woodworking. Sarah is 18 and finishing the 13th grade, our version of high school. David is in the 9th grade and a budding film maker. Hannah is 11 and sings---all day long.
When I do children and youth groups, I´ve developed a film project thing. They come up with a story, script and p´lan together and then they get to do the things they do best. I teach them the related subjects from the Bible and it goes over really well. God gave me the idea one night.
It´s so great to hear from you. Give my love to Ellen.

    Ruth

  • Hello Dan,

Lovely to hear from you. Yes, a lot of water has gone under the duck since those youthful days. Glad to see you are still involved with drama. I remember my brief foray with you in a play in Emporia. I was supposed to be some sort of back up muscle for you as a gangster. I wore my long leather coat and tried to look meanacing. But it must have appeared to the audience more like, "is that a gun in your pocket or are you just glad to see me" for they all burst out laughing when I walked on stage.
So much for my acting carreer. My writing has been a bit more successful. Let me have your address and I'll send you my lates book, The Nephilim, it is radical and will bless you. And of course it contradicts a lot of what we were taught before. But it's right on the Word and ties things together very well with regard to End Times prophecies.
Put some pics up so we can see what you and your family look like after all these years. If you can't do that, I bet your kids can. I am a dinosaur on the computer so they have to help me out. Love to Ellen. My wife, Catherine, is still with me after all these years.
Good to talk with you again. We have fond memories of you and our time times in the Corps despite the crap that went with it.

    God bless,
    Paddy
