You are the most boring person I ever met. Good God, man - get a life, will you? Do something meaningful for a change. And lighten up, too. Talk about trashing someone twenty years ago - how about the way you ran housekeeping? Huh? Can you…"

  • Hi Dan: That deer will live on in the memmories of many hunters. It was a very special time in my life to be with so many great people. I don't think I could have been anywhere on earth better than there then. Thanks for enriching my life.
    Love YA, Charlie
  • Hi Dan,

It's good hearing from you. How are you? we went to Ontario last year and had a great week. Ken finally managed to catch the Muskie he's always wanted to catch. It was 40" long and perhaps 22-25 lbs. Unfortunately this lake has pretty stringent rules and it still wasn't large enough to keep. I don't think he would have anyway, he's pretty devoted to catch and release these days.

This fish in the picture was actually a Northern Pike. It was 38" long and close to 15 pounds, I ate it. I had a larger one on but I lost it.
  • Yep...it is the site I showed you at the store...btw you did a fantastic job at Jean's house...the cabinets look very Tuscany!!! You are da bomb, man. Love you, Joseph
  • We did nothing but laugh!! In fact I believe ppl. would avoid us becase they wondered if we ever did anything but f_ck arond. But!!! as we have aged ppl. see that we are good decent Christian folk and now have joined in on the fun.. God has been good to me all these years and all is well...
  • Wow. How wonderful to hear from you Dan! How many times I have thought of you and Carolyn!! You have been blessed with kids, as we have too! So, where are you teaching? I see you are living in New Bremen. The kids and I were up in Tipp City at CFF for the Family Reunion this past summer. John went to the Teen CAmp and enjoyed it. Wants to go back the end of June this year. He's on a showcase baseball team this summer, so we'll have to see about that. They play 3 tournaments in June, but we don't have their schedule yet. One thing I know that I have to do in life is stay flexible!! Every day brings something new and different. Aren't we glad?! Please give my love to Caorlyn and we'll keep in touch! Love, Vickie
  • Hey Dan and Ellen,
Dan, I was out there last May to visit my mom and sister in NK. I saw the murals in St. Mary's. They are beautiful. I have always appreciated your artistic talents. God bless!

  • All Firkins meet me in the Sonlight Room. As soon as I saw your name, that poem was in my head. It was a joy to hear from you, and I pray that you and your family are well. Three sons, eh? I trust each has a crossover dribble worthy of the old Firkins. Hey, you'd LOVE my SAT prep course for teenage mutants--it is world class comedy. Quoth the Firkin: It's not a bore, never more. I love you, brother.

  • Dan - so you are really living the drama dream!! Community involvement, plus you get to be with the high schoolers, for whom it is such an amazing outlet. It's so very neat that Ellen is running the community theatre there. Good on you, man. I was a public school English teacher for five years: three in middle school, and two in high school. I've been at the University of Oklahoma for about ten years now. Are you rooting for Ohio State? Just keep us Sooners in some tiny place in your heart, okay?

Do you travel with your students to speech and drama contests? Those are some of my very, very favorite memories of high school; there was this one teacher who was impossible to sneak out on . . . I'm guessing that now, you're that guy! I'll bet you're the teacher that the kids go to when they really need advice. Love, Vickie
  • DaN
Good to ehar from you. I think of you and Ellen often and wonder how you and the kids are doing. Glad to see you are doing theatre again. IIs it with the performing arts venture you and Ellen were starting in Minster? What is Carolyn up to? Emily moved to DC after graduating Cornell as a Sapnish major and works at the LAtino Economic Development Corp.

  • Ooh, faux stuff? My husband would love to see you do that. He's done some on a stairway - painted the pine stair steps to look like oak, so that they'd match the floor more closely. I teach First Year Composition at Oklahoma, which is a little hard to believe unless it's 3 in the morning, and I'm getting up to catch up on my grading before class (such as, ahem, this morning).

What kinds of writing things are you doing now? I remember that you have a rare gift.

When you asked the little dear where his mother was, what did he antler you?

I'm glad that you got back out; I haven't been hunting since leaving staff, lo these many years ago. My sister still goes every year, down in South Texas, to wild pig country.

So, how's Jim? We have to get him on this site. There are surely enough slightly crazy people around here to talk to, but he counts as - what? - three or four crazy people, all by himself? You know that I mean that in a really, really good way. I did finally meet someone with as many Scuba stories as Jim - my husband, Michael, who's kind of quietly crazy, also in a very good way.

How's Ellen? What's she up to? Love to you both, Vickie
