  • BK - Alaska is great. It is so peaceful here most of the time. Right now, it is 15 degrees and a very fine snow is falling fairly steadily. When you are outside, it is quiet--you know how it gets when it snows! The noises are muffled and if you are very quiet and stand in one place, you can hear the hissing of the snow and could even swear you can hear it touch down gently on the piles of already fallen snow. We have lots of native spruce here both black and white and snow builds into pads that cover the downward sloping branches and the trees become solid with visual weight, but the weight is fluffy at the same time.
There are mountains all around one side of the the city of Anchorage and water on the other. This time of year, we have what they call alpenglow, when the sunsets (at 3:30 in the afternoon) turn everything gold and then pink and then purple--al the way up the mountains and the colors are the most incredible you could ever see. I don't konw if you are familiar with an artist named Fred Machentanz, but he was an Alaskan artist noted for the rich blues, pinks and purples of his paintings, depicting various scenes of alaskan life. When people look at his paintings many think that he was adding color to things as many modern artists do, because they know that no hill or iceberg could ever be that color. When you look around you up here, you are amazed that he was only capturing exactly what he was seeing. Because of our position on the topside of the earth, we have light refracted in the same way that other parts of the world get primarily at sunsets and sunrises.
Yes, I still have tattoos and one of the butterflies is on my left ankle. Cool that you are learning Espanol. There is a large hispanic community up here, so I get to keep in practice, too. I have only been to Japan twice, but it is a wonderful country. Mount Fuji is really breathtaking. It rises incredibly far over everything else around it and although the surroundings are not really flat, they appear to be because it is so dominant. They say that if you see it when you are leaving, you will be back. The first time I left, I did see it, but the second time I didn't. so I have decided to believe it is only an old wive's tale , because I know I will be back there.
It is nothing to how dominant yuo have been in my thoughts all these years. I am really delighted to have gotten back in touch with you. I get to NY about every year, so I will be sure to get together with you.
    I love you,
    Paul

  • Dear Bonnie Kim, Thanks for your sweet greetings! I am so glad that you are doing well. That's all we have and the most that we have is that great Word of God. I, too, am so glad that I learned the Word, it has been the saving grace in many situations. You are God's best! I will write more later. Mary Jo
  • God bless you Bonnie Kim,

How wonderful to hear of all your doings. We had such fun growing in the Word while in college. We are now 23 veterans of the Midwest, but our heart often goes back to the east coast and the many people we know and love from there.

    Much love,

    Bob and Susan
  • Hi Bonnie Kim,

Welcome to this great site. I too enjoy all of Nicholas Sparks books, although I haven't read them all. Since you're writing prose and poetry I thought you might be interested in checking out a web site that is quite fun. It is www.writing.com. It's basic membership is free, upgrades are possible from cold hard cash, or gift points which are rewarded via reviewing others works, or others might give you a free upgrade.

  • Hey Bonnie,

Thanks for the kind comments...glad you enjoyed the cards...I think that Jacquie Lawson's pretty cool.

I've got your email now so if it's okay with you I'll stay in touch.

Love to you and Stamford, girl!
  • Bonnie Kim -

Many thanks for your kind note - those were wonderful times, and you played an important role in so many things we did.

My parents are generally in Connecticut March-October. They have moved to a different house in Westport, but still have the same telephone number (203-226-4682).

If the Lord tarries, it will be great to see you sometime.

    Love in Christ,

    Bruce
  • Bonnie Kim,
Good to hear you're doing well and looking fabulous. But that was always your true nature and I wouldn't expect anything less.
I dated an actor and visited him in Stamford a couple of times. He managed the Caberet there and worked in NYC from time to time. We had good times.
Good thing this site came up before we all died, huh? Much love, Tommy
  • Miz Bonnie; Reading your intro is a pleasurable joy - your light, rich self pops right on through. I'm truly looking forward to the gorgeous photo and I like this idea of "theme" music. And I love your writing, already. With all that said, its been 22 years: Hello! Love, Deb
