  • Thank you Billy.

As much as I like to down-play the 3rd of August for reasons of sanity and vanity, I will always accept a sincere and honest "good wishes" from a friend.

Hope all is well with you and yours.

    Vini

    p.s.

Hey, who's this pretty lady below me?
    A Pom-Pom girl, eh?
I have a weakness for Pom-Pom girls so...
    I'd better go.

    p.p.s.
    Claudia Cooprider?
Wow...now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time. She was a great person. I really liked her and enjoyed the time I spent with her. We hitch-hiked somewhere together (that I cannot remember where for the life of me) and it was a blast. A very sharp, funny and witty girl. Please give her my regards.
  • You have AMAZING recall, considering that was more than 40 years ago.

Btw, another Ft. Hunter just joined the list. Yvonne Patterson of the 6th Corps. She was my best friend in high school. Her husband Brad also went to Ft. Hunt along with his older brother, Brian. I'd lost track of them years ago and am so excited to be in touch with them again.

Perhaps your 8th Corps brother and sister, and fellow Groveton alumni Steve and Cindi will show up here one day too. Ya never know ;)

    Kathy
  • I was a bit behind you, but yeah, I should remember more about Groveton and Ft. Hunt rivalry, since I was a pom-pom girl and we performed at halftime. L-o-o-o-g time ago though. I was more involved with competitive swimming and horses than anything to do with football. Groveton and FT Hunt later combined combined to make West Potomac High school and the Ft. Hunt facility became an elementary school.

My DH graduated from Thomas Jefferson in 1978. They were known more for academics than sports, even more so now, but he says to tell you even if the team wasn't good, he was. LOL! As a freshman he was moved up to JV and took the fullback's starting position.

It's been fun chatting with you. Have a GREAT week-end!

    Kathy
  • Whoops, my husband went to Thomas Jefferson, not TC Williams. Not enough java this a.m. I see your stepdaughter is at GW. Good school. You're a long way from your old stomping grounds now out there in South Dakota.

    God bless,
    Kathy
  • Hi Billy,

It's a small world! I'm toward central VA now but spent part of my younger years in Alexandria. I went to Ft. Hunt High (when it was a high school) for about 2 1/2 years. Then my Dad was transferred to Harvard and I completed high school near Boston. I vaguely remember Groveton High School, though.

My husband is from Alexandria. He grew up there. He went to TC Williams and was on the football team. Running back.

I'll pass your message along to my hubby. He loves the Skins-mostly when they're winning;) Thanks for your message. Great to hear from you! Small world.... :)
  • My deteriorating memory has been jarred! Yes, I know who you are. (Now, if I could only remember who I am!) Yes, I was in a twig with Jenny S. (What was her last name? Scheitz?) I've enjoyed the trip down memory lane. Glad to hear you're doing well. Keep in tough! God bless, Claudia
  • Hi, Billy! In my old age, I'm not exactly sure I remember you, but I think I do. You don't have picures on your site (Actually, neither do I!) I'm so pleased to hear from my Eighth Corps friends/brethren. Thanks so much for taking the time to contact me. Please write back and describe yourself more, so I can be sure I am remembering the right person! Enjoyed your blog about 'trust."Hope all is well with your wonderful family! God bless, Claudia
  • Hi, Billy! That was a funny joke. I asked a meteorologist in my Sunday school class this morning for a weatherman joke; he said that they're quite philosophical because they always have their heads in the clouds. We have a lot of meterologists in Norman, due to the great meteorology major at OU, the National Weather Center about four blocks from my house, and of course, our famous tornados. This year, they convened a crowd of storm chasers to study our tornados, and for once, we almost didn't have any. There was only one while all of the folks were here. It wasn't so great for their study, but nobody in town was complaining. We like our trees to stay in our yards, and our houses to remain at the proper ends of our driveways. That just isn't the way things always end up, in the Springtime in this part of the country. Anyway, thanks for the note. Vickie
  • awwww thankyou so much !!!!! you made me smile. love, eileen
  • You are correct Billy, it seemed liked we sang that at every SNF in the BRC in '79. That I do remember. To answer your ? about my name, I like David, not Dave. Hey! I would rejoice if you posted some pics of yourself and family, I would love to see all of you, plus it would help my failing mind to remember and connect with you. Please please do that. Anymore mems... you got in that mind of yours...DB
