Hey,

I would love to know about what paths our lives took after leaving the Way Corps, specifically any church or bible study that you delved into after leaving The Way.

I was just turned onto Bible Study Fellowship by Donna (Stahl) Mahoney, formerly of the Way College, and it is really fun to be studying with a group again!

Do you have any great suggestions or groups you enjoy?

Please share!

  • I agree. This is a tramendous site - I am glad that people can share what they are doing in their lives spiritually without the cold shoulder - thanks, John!
  • Yes, John, a cyber Corps week, I like that! And you are to be commended for getting this thing up and running! We were and are a diverse group of people, and I venture to say there had to be a strong calling to do what we did. The Corps was not for the faint of heart or uncommitted. When I look back now at what we did, the hitchhiking, the LEAD climbs, the work and being out of our comfort zones, I still believe God called each of us, no matter how The Way turned out, and we will always have that calling. God doesn't forget those He's called, and we'll come out on the other end of this! Maybe in a warm climate where we can have walker and wheelchair races!

  • Judy, I commented to someone last year that I have met more people from other Corps on her that ever before. We used to have an annual Corps Week. This may be like a cyber version of that only it never ends.

It is great to see such a diversity and to see how people are doing after all these years. It's not so bad. We were overall a good hearted group of people with ambitions outside our own lives. Many are still that way.
  • Hi, Emil:
Wow, I'm having so much fun chatting with all the Corps I never got the privilege of meeting while in residence or out in the field. You rock (literally as well as figuratively!) I loved the pictures on your page, and the log cabin on the bible study group page reminds me of Wyoming where I grew up and Colorado where I went to college. It must be a local bible study group. Thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks so much for joining this discussion. I am taking all these great inspirations and researching them. I too need to strengthen my "fellowshipping with believers," although I'm actually gaining a little ground. I really appreciate you responding, and I'm looking up Ken Petty!

  • Hey, John:
Thanks for responding! I love to hear what new things we are all doing to keep us inspired! Is CFF the organization John Lynn started? I know he used to travel around, but being on the West Coast, I'm not sure there are any nearby fellowships from this. Maybe they'll know. It's nice to know there are other Way Corps in Seattle, I just contacted Terry Schlock and am looking forward to meeting her!

I also love something called The Work by Byron Katie as well as I'm loving Yoga's physical as well as spiritual benefits. You're right, it's nice not to be so narrow-minded! Hey, there was a lot of fun had at The Rock, now the question is do we still "rock"?

  • Disclaimer - I am not a member of any particular organization at this time and the intention of this post is not to promote any one group, church or fellowship over another.

The only group or organization I have had contact with in recent years is CFF. I began attending their annual Family Reunion on an occasional basis because of the sheer numbers of people I know there from the past. At first it was a little erie like going back in time, what with the Fellowship Center designed similar to the old BRC complete with basement and the meal tent looking like a ROA tent and the 100? acres of land out in the Ohio countryside. But I gotta say it has been an enjoyable experience every time I go. Last time I attended a couple years ago there were over 1,000 people there and plenty of excited young people which is critical for any organization to succeed.

Admittedly, I am a social being more than a researcher or studier or a class attendee. CFF doesn't seem to mind if people like me do a little more socializing than attending all sit down events and teachings. That is very important for me at this stage of my life and may be for some time to come. It was awesome to see and hang out with people I had not seen in years. It's always a surprise who will be there. I always enjoy going and intend to do so again in years to come as long as they will have me.

Oh, and I guess this site has inadvertantly been a renewed source of "fellowship" for me as well. It feels so good NOT to be narrow minded anymore. Such freedom!
  • Hi Judy, perhaps the greatest blessing to me in the last few years have been the different classes and studies made available by Rev. Ken Petty. Absoloutely inspiring. Especially the Romans seminar, it has perhaps been the greatest blessing to my life next to the PFAL series. Also his other seminars, A Partnership of Power, The Lord: The Stability of Our Times, and Living in the Realm of the Miraculous, and others. All have been greatly edifying.
What I need to strengthen is the "fellowshipping with believers" part of the walk.....
