  • Grace Bliss and The Way had a cook book at one time...maybe someone has that, possibly a collector item by now.
But if you get any of those, let me know...that sounds yummy.

Or maybe write to Sara Weirwille...she could possibly direct you.
  • Ha, ha. Yeah, I ate raw potatoes and, I think it was, beets or beet juice or something like that in Emporia. I came down with a bad case of the flu and pretty bad fever and that was my recommended cure along with drinking a lot of water, ha, ha.

I think I would have preferred a couple of Tylenol PM, maybe something stronger. That beiing said, I was never healthier than when I was in TWC due to regular exercise (running 3 times a week) and non fatty foods.
  • How about carrot-raisin salad? Or colon cleanse protein shakes? I seriously have traumatic memories of the things I had to eat as a child! Once, I was sick and Grace Bliss told my parents to make me eat a raw potato. Have you ever eaten a raw potato?! :) My family and I still laugh about meals in the basement of the BRC, and me pretending tomato slices were cookies (an early developed coping skill, I guess). Maybe these aren't the kind of recipes you were looking for, but I thought the stories would make you smile.
    Hope you are well,

  • HA HA HA HA! Oh you way people! So dang funny! :-)
  • That is definitely a thought John cuz I know that Happy Meals have always made me happy. You always brighten my day John.
  • Are Happy Meals included in there, Crae? Maybe we need a revision.
  • If you can scan the book and put it into a pdf formatted file then we could all download it.
I'm interested in seeing this book. Thanks!!!! :)
  • I don't know about y'all, but I still like my granola better with apple juice than I do milk.

From what I saw on the hamburger cooking was Dr. Wierwille was a purist, 100% beef, no spices, no nuthin. his were always 1/3 of a pound. And the grill was past the white hot stage, the burgers put on, not touched, not monkeyed with, until the fisheyes and the juice was all the way across the burgers, then they were flipped, AT THAT TIME, if you have room on the first grill or had a second grill going, put down the buns. Then your burger and your hot toasty bun come off the grill at the same time.

Do I sound like I did it, yes. Camp Gunnison summer of 84 with Dr. Wierwille. Why? Because I had the nerve to walk up and ask him could I cook hamburgers with him and he said, "come on kid, the grill the ready now!" I had fun! Any of the 14th Corps can tell you, cuz we cooked for them that evening.
