Blogs often focus on personal opinion, experiences, views, anecdotes or advice. Blogs tend to have a relaxed and conversational feel, such as in storytelling and are generally 300-500 words.

Why I Decided to Stay Off Grounds at Corps Week

Between this and Beautiful Ohio - 'nuf said. Not that the lyrics weren't awesome......I'm just sayin.smile.gif

Use this link to listen to or download the song that motivated me to sleep elsewhere.

GOOD MORNING LORD

And Ted Ferrell....I have a suspicion you had something to do with it. Whose idea was it to torture some of us this way. You can tell I am not a morning person. biggrin.gif

  • Mark Gluckin wrote the following about this song. (Thanks Mike Tracey for providing us this info from Mark.)

"For so many years it would be Lee Russell's recording of "Good Morning, Lord" that would open the day at the Way Family Camps all around the world.

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio,  where he sang with small combos in clubs in and around the midwest, Lee traveled to New York City and joined the Vincent Lopez Orchestra as the featured vocalist.  After appearing for a while with Lopez at the Hotel Taft, an important event took place that changed Lee's life.  He was introduced to the Rev. Lila Coon Ginter, an inspiring woman who devoted twenty years of her life as a missionary in Africa.  Through Rev. Ginter, Lee's interest in singing gospel songs grew.  He quit the Lopez band and his career began to take a new direction.  Introduced to Dr. Victor Paul Wierwille by Rev. Ginter in the late 1950's, Lee attended the class on Power For Abundant Living in New York City and performed at ministry events during the 1960's.  For many years Lee's albums were for sale at The Way Bookstore."

  • Too bad we couldn't get a version of LEON Russell singing "Good Morning Lord"
  • Come on Ted. I'll sing Beautiful Ohio to you and John every morning. What a treat!
  • Ted we need to get together. Why dont you come with me to Atrlanta for some SEC basketball fun next week. I'll come pick you up. It's only a 7 hour drive. Tell Debra I'll take good care of ya. We'll leave Thursday morn and be back Sunday night. Mr. Bailey is gonna be there too. My brothers and their "posse" will be there, a bunch of wild KY boys who like to party and enjoy the games and "entertainment." I already have reserved room here where we are all staying right downtown walking distance to everything, so don't worry about accomodations, etc. Everything already handled.
  • I can imagine him and Dotsie and probably the Owens' probably like those songs. Dorothy was quite the practical joker from what I hear. Maybe she was behind it.

  •    John I think it was VP that chose those songs to be played first thing in the morning. God rest his soul.

Ray Charles version of America The Beautiful is a fantastic rendition. It's always been my favorite .

  • It seems to have a Hawaiian twang to it. Artists name is Lee Russell. I might have been awakend more easily to Ray Charles siging America the Beautiful.
  • Good Ted. Who then? I bet Dorothy Owens. Someone must know who?

And Ted I totally agree with you about replacing the Star Spangled  Banner with America the Beautiful. I prefer Ray Charles' version best of all. He was a big proponent of this replacement as well.

David - this is not supposed to be auto play. It is not on mine or my wifes using Internet explorer and Windows 7. Are you using Firefox?

  • Actually, I think of this song often enough in the mornings even to this very day. The words are helpful to me to start the day with the idea of partnering with God to bless others for this day He gave me. I have sort of grown to like the song...
