BLOGS

Blog or Article?

Blogs often focus on personal opinion, experiences, views, anecdotes or advice. Blogs tend to have a relaxed and conversational feel, such as in storytelling and are generally 300-500 words.

Articles aim to deliver well-researched, informative content with solid evidence to back up the points made.  Articles are usually more formal, organized and frequently range 500-1000 words.

I'm in print!

God bless everyone. I just wanted to share the first step on the road to a personal victory. For a very long time I've wanted to be a writer but never diligently pursued my dream, content just to dabble in the occasional poem, resume, or children's story. With the help and encouragement of several believers and my wonderful mom (thank God for mothers!) I am now rejoicing in the victory of having an article I wrote actually appear in print, in a local arts and entertainment magazine here in Little Rock, AR.It may not be "the big time" but it's a "bigtime" blessing for me. The ultimate goal is always to glorify God and move His Word with the talents and abilities He's given me, and I'm not sure exactly how that will be accomplished but with His help, it will.Thank you to any and all who were believing with me to see this day come to pass, and especially to LewEllyn Hallet for her professional wisdom and wonderful, encouraging emails. I love you!Rejoicing in Him,Chere Poole (WRITER!)Sync article 9.16.09.pdf

  • Thanks Kevin! God bless you and hang in there. I got a great message this morning from the steel drum player from Trinidad & Tobago that I profiled in my article that showed me how much of an impact we can have on people, whether we realize it at the time or not.

He said: "Hi Chere, I will like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing that article, it is a blessing and something I would cherish until I die. You are a god sent and I know it is the begining of something new for you and for me I know it will open many doors in the future. How is your mom? Tell her I said hi and also your friend I met the first time I met you all at the afterthoughts. Keep in contact and I know we are blessed with the love of god. Thanks again."

Very humbling. My "friend" he referred to is another believer (the Afterthought is the club where he played), and I believe what made the impact was the love of God he saw in us, whether he knew that's what he was seeing or not. We are a witness at all times, not just when we are quoting "scripture".
  • Congratulations Chere! I too love to write and want to publish some things some day. Actually, I have had several articles published in the "Juneau Empire", but a children's book and some short stories I have written have yet to be published. And so, carry on, for, the pen indeed is mightier than the sword!
  • Not sure, but I submitted one to another local AR paper on Monday about an event that took place over the weekend. Haven't heard back yet. I'm looking for anyone interested in a story from the Albuquerque hot air balloon fiesta in a couple weeks. Don't have a buyer yet, but I'm going and I'm writing something, even if it doesn't make it past my own blog. I just started one this week at http://cpwritergirl.blogspot.com/

  • Congrats! When's your next article?
  • Thank you, John. You SHOULD come to LR and spend an evening at the Afterthought. I'm trying to get Charlie DiMaggio's band booked in there this Fall.
  • Congrats Chere. Nice job. That makes me want to go to that club. Continued success!
