BLOGS

Blog or Article?

Blogs often focus on personal opinion, experiences, views, anecdotes or advice. Blogs tend to have a relaxed and conversational feel, such as in storytelling and are generally 300-500 words.

Articles aim to deliver well-researched, informative content with solid evidence to back up the points made.  Articles are usually more formal, organized and frequently range 500-1000 words.

I AM GREAT, GREAT!!

I became a great, great, Uncle at the age of 55. You heard me right. That's x2. It is very unusual to reach great, great status at my age from what I understand. My youngest brother is 10 years younger than me. He was only 45 when he became a great, great, Uncle. It is likely that me an my brothers will be great, great, great Uncles in our lifetimes, with the possibility of being great, great, great, great uncles if we live to very old ages. What's also rare is my Dad, who is alive and well, became a great, great grandfather at the age of 82. Meet Laela Marie Newton, the object of our greatness. Are there any others out there who are great like me?

  • John,

My dad past away Jan 2008 at about age 90. He and I spent several years together sharing over the Wilson book I published. I would put together information and have him review it when I went to see him and it would spur memories he shared with me. Things he had not thought of in years. I sure miss that special time with him but I have the book.
  • I'll have to do a video blog interview for her. I did one last year of my 83 year old Dad. It was nice to do it and hear him talk about things such as what it was like growing up as a boy without electricity in the great outdoors of KY.
We all have a unique story to tell.
  • John,

Just think all the history you will represent to her. WOW
  • Great photo! I wish I had one of my great grandparents.
  • John,

I have been looking for edit but couldn't find. She is so cute! It was the haircut. LOL
  • John,

My two great great grandfathers are standing together on the porch, my great great great grandfather is sitting in the chair to the left and all around are my great great uncles are of whom are the basis for my book. Four of these men were old enough for the War between the States fighting for the south. I am as a family historian very interested in their lives. I am sure your great great nephew will want to know all about you. He is so cute!
    Congrats.
  • "Oh Brother Where Art Thou was filmed on the property you are talking about, Davis. Take a look. Beautiful. This church and its congregants come with the property. That's ok. They are welcome. We'll have them be in charge of new people. They are nice.

Plenty of room for a Rock. Nice river too.

  • These really are my great Uncles. I am not joking.
  • I am on board and will abundantly share to the best of my ability. Only on two conditions:

    1. that you host a yearly "Rock of Old Agers" there. I want DB and Ted to sing amongst others. You shall be the MC.

    2. We have a vineyard and winery. Your dream continued in my mind when you woke up and I was still sleeping for a few hours. It is clear that no one has made a fine Kentucky wine yet. Only that crap Thunderbird my mom used to serve us to help us sleep at night. These men were saying "Come over to Kentucky and make a fine wine for us". We'll make millions and get all seed our money back.
