  • Hi, John. I knew your sister and John Brekke in Livermore CA on my WOW year there '83-84 and then talked to you briefly at Camp Gunnison the next year while I was at Family Camp during my first year in the Corps. I still keep in touch with John, but haven't heard how your sister is doing.... Would love an update. God bless you! Myrna Webster Brinkley (now in Wmsbg. VA)
  • Hi John, Glad to see you here! You may not remember me, I know Brian better since we lived in Cocoa Beach for many years from 1978 - 1985. We moved back to Florida and live in Orlando since 1999. I have only been over to Cocoa Beach once to see Brian since we've been back and wished I could spend more time. Do you ever make it down here to FL? Look us up if you do. Would love to here how you are doing. Take care!

  • How the hell are you, John? I still remember your unique manner of talking and great sense of humor. You always surprised me with tongue in cheek comments that made me laugh. I admired your wit. Good to see you found your way in here. I've had fun these 20 years...check out my profile.
  • Hi John,

Years ago, before I even knew about The Way, I was good friends with your brother, Brian. Do you remember me? Janie Webster from Minneapolis ... my sister, Jeanine, was even closer to Brian than I was. There was a bunch of us who hung together for a number of years, kind of a hippie group.

One summer in 1971 or so Brian, Richard Tolzman (they became friends at the Mpls School of Art/Design), another friend, Susan Morris (Mitchell now) and I all hitch-hiked and toured the Wild West. Our first stop was Anaconda and I'll never forget it!

I recall your dad being kind of a wild guy who took us on a drive in the mountains and scared the living daylights out of us, tooling around those mountain curves where there were NO guard rails. He seemed to get such a kick from it. :-) Richard, Susan and I had never seen mountains and I guess your dad wanted to give us an experience we wouldn't forget! I also remember stopping the car and walking along the side of a mountain, the sun was like a very light wash over beautiful fields of wildflowers. I was really taken by it all. Then we stopped at a ghost town and walked around. It was a great time.

This site has served a very good purpose for many. I don't do much here but I like to check in to see who's joined up. When I saw your name my heart jumped!

I would love to contact Brian and say "hey" if you have an email address or phone number for him. My email address is janiesohmer@mac.com if you prefer to send that way OR if you'd rather just give it to Brian and tell him I'd like to hear from him. My sister thought he might still be in Florida. I live in the Dallas are with my husband and 2 dogs - the kids are all grown.

John, I remember you being a very kind-hearted and gentle soul. I hope all is well with you.

Would love to hear from you.

  • Hey John,

God bless you. It's so good to know you are around. I was in Arizona from 4-15-06 til 9-6-06. Stayed with my niece and nephew in Mesa. Since then, her husband died, it was real sad, and she and the kids moved to Maricopa.

Go check me out, that should fill you in.

    Love,
    J
  • Hey Ol' Friend,
Still in AZ, at least that is where I remember you being last. I'm in CT where I grew up. Look at the 14th Corps Group and see a lot of familiar faces. There is also the 14th Corps Prayer Book that you can download in .pdf format. Good to see you here. I still remember 1st Block/1st year, quite a time. I trust that all is well. Shalom, David
  • Hey Johnny! My name is Kevin Nye. I once ate a huge pile of grilled cheese sandwiches at your house in Montana with your old friend, Tom Fennel. Your sister grilled them for us at your place in Anaconda as Tom and I rolled through on our motorcycles just after the Rock of 1978, when returning to Portland where he and I lived. Your sister was so cool, because, she knew we were hungry, and she just kept on grillin till Tom and I were done and we all talked and talked. A memory etched into my mind forever. And so, God bless you sir! And, do you know how to get in touch with Tom? What a wonderful and kind hearted guy he was and no doubt still is. Peace and blessings to you...
