  • Steve -

Great to hear from you! Glad you made it to be an architect - seems you were working towards that last time we spoke.

I am still married, two kids in high school. I work for a professional engineering society doing government relations here in DC, and keep busy with our fellowship stuff, as well.

If the Lord tarries, we should try to get together sometime and compare notes.

So what about the box in the basement in Terre Haute?

    All the best,

    Bruce

  • look at you, you handsome dog you !!!!!

i love you so much. i can't tell you how happy i am to see you after all these years

i'm so glad things are looking up

    all my love,
    eileen
  • Rita, I'm really glad my note blessed you a little. Gee, it sure is sweet for me to hear from someone who understands. That can be someone who has experienced similar challenges, but I think it also must be someone who sees life from a Word-centered foundation.
Kingman is 3-4 hours northwest of us. It is much closer to Las Vegas than here. But if you ever come out to visit your sister, perhaps we could all have lunch or something!
I just spoke with Steve Muratore on the phone (too many Steve M's, I know!!!!). He lives here in Scottsdale but I never knew it until I found this website, so we're getting together for lunch today.
What you said about the "promises" and "perfect world" really struck a chord with me. My wife left us in 1990 when my daughter was only 2 1/2 yrs old. I thought I was struggling on okay until one day I was sitting in the design studio at school (I'd gone back to college) and just stopped cold. I could not function or do anything, and I suddenly realized I was intensely depressed. I walked over to the college counseling center, as I knew I needed to talk to someone, and the Way stuff had fallen apart (for all of us in that area, anyway), so I told God I needed someone who could really help. I got to talk with a woman who was very sharp. She helped me realize that my view of life was that we should all be able to live in out those promises, and see at least some of the "perfect world" we expected! I think maybe we grew to expect these things in the Way, although some of it is just how I think, because I've always been an idealist and an optimist without really trying. Now, of course, I know life here on this old earth sure ain't gonna be perfect, but we can enjoy and stay above junk a lot.
Thanks for what you said about raising a daughter. I will admit I had a hard time. There are a number of times that I look back on, especially when she was 14-17, with some regret. I know that I missed stuff and didn't protect her or keep her going straight on enough sometimes, and I know a woman probably would've caught those things before it was too late, or at least I think so. I blew it on some stuff, and she suffered. Well, she's pretty obstinate and strong-headed, so that's part of it. Anyway, she's doing a lot better now, and I thank God for that! She'll be 20 in February and wants to move along.
Your daughters look lovely, and I'm really happy that they're doing well. I would like to tell you some other things, but I'll stop for now. Write back, okay?
  • Hey Steve. What you wrote to me was very tender, and I appreciare it more than you can imagine -- okay, maybe not more than that since you KNOW. My sister lives in Kingman AZ. Is that anywhere near you? I haven't been out there yet. As a matter of fact, she is in NJ right now visiting her daughter, my niece, so I'm about to drive up there to see her. Raising a teenager DAUGHTER alone is an incredible responsibility. Well done good and faithful one! I have a 20 year old who is living in an apartment about 20 miles away only because she wanted to be "on campus" at the Univ of DE and my 22 year old still lives with me (last year in college) and is champing at the bit to spread her wings and fly. We 3 "ladies" have been through an immense amount of stuff together -- and for so many years I felt so badly that my perfect world and all I "promised" them didn't happen the way I thought it would or should. But now we get together and I laugh while they argue. AAAAAAHHHH Family!
  • Steve...oh my God you look great!!! I can't believe you're single!!! A hottie like you.......you don't look much different than you did in the Corps 'cept for the white hair, which I might add, is very becoming...

Well, I know there's a beauty waiting for you out there. All in the right time...
It sounds like you're doing pretty good. Nice to see you...
    Love, Lisa
  • Hi Leann. It's wonderful to see your pretty face and to hear from you. I am very glad good things have happened for you. Yes, happiness, as I'm sure you know, is much more about how we see life than about what actually occurs. Life is so short, we may as well enjoy it as much as we can. Be well, God bless, and thank you for writing to me.
  • Steve,

Greetings and great to see you here! I have family in Phoenix and get out there once in a while. You look great and sound happy-That's wonderful!
  • THERE you are!! LOL.....don't know if I ever saw you without a 'stache before.....if you do decide to move sometime, NC is a great place to live...and there are some wonderful people here in the Raleigh area...the weather's pretty good, too...but WAAAYY more humidity than AZ
  • I always wanted more kids but I just have one, and she's 5'2 and 105 lbs., so our grocery bill is probably 10% of yours. Anyway, she put us (me and her) through torture during her mid-teen years, but she's doing well now. We were in CT from 1994-2000. When did you get there -- did I miss you when I was there (can't remember)? I still love the northeast and hope to spend time there when I can. I grew up in Sherman, which was idyllic at the time, and when we went back in 94 I lived there for a year and then in New Milford until 2000. I was commuting and working in Norwalk, Bridgeport, etc., and couldn't afford to buy down there (except in Bridgeport) so I decided to move on. It's been fine here but we're not in love with it, so I could end up anywhere. My dad was an OB-GYN, and I seem to have been engulfed in estrogen clouds all my life (3 sisters, 1 daughter, and all those women who just won't leave me alone - yeah, right). God bless, be well.
  • Hey Steve:
Lookin' good!! Scottsdale is a beautiful place too! Great to hear from you and getting in touch with folks from 25 years ago. Alot has happened through the years but God's grace still abounds heh? Yeah...4 boys has been quite a ride....Chuck says that I do enough running for the entire family...I say that I started running FAR to get away from all that testosterone.....it was for my survival..and then working in OB with women having babies was another way to balance out my life with the male thing happening at home! They are all as different as could be...they all have their quirks.....and I just hope I didn't ruin them for life cuz they always blame the mother ya know! ha-ha..Let's keep in touch through this site...it's so much fun! i will actually get some pics up of the family...I only had some pictures of me and running friends that were already on my computer...gotta get some off my camera with Chuck and the boys. They range from 6'1--6'5 in height with the little guy (10) showing signs of being bigger than all of them! Don't ask me what I spend on groceries...
    luv yas
