About Me
After leaving my staff position at Emporia in 1987, I moved to the Washington DC area. I love it here and work just 3 blocks from the White House at GW Law School. One of my favorite things is to walk around the White House during my lunch hour to pray for our country.
My Interests
Taking pilgrimages to holy places, riding horses, taking walks in the woods, volunteering at the Washington National Cathedral.
In the above photo, I am standing next to one of the Orthodox Monks who lives at St. Catherine's Monastery at the foot Mt. Sinai. I traveled to Sinai in 2006 and again in 2008 to visit the Monastery and climb Mout Sinai. I stayed in the desert with the Bedouins. It was what the Celts call, a "very thin place" (where the veil is thin between this world and the other world).

I just read your post on my page; you are so kind. Thank you for the compliments all the way around.
It wasn't hard being raised by my Father; he was always a gentle soul and full of understanding. I am grateful for him.
He did tell me one story. At the end of WWII in Germany, after the Germans had surrendered, he had to make rounds?, and found a man on Guard Duty asleep. My Father reported him.
I asked my Father why he did that...this would be when he was about 80 years old, and he thought for a moment, and looked at me, as if I couldn't understand why he did it, and said, "Son, it was a Courtmartial offnese."
As an officer he had no choice IF he were to a true Officer.
A few days later an Attorney Adjutant (?) came to him and said, "Captain Agsten, we have this report. Sir, we have many other cases to prosecute on more serious natures, and with your permission, we would like to drop this case...it's minor on our list of what we have to do, and the war is over."
My Father replied, "I understand what you have to do, and I was simply doing my duty as an Officer. If you want to dismiss this case I have no problem with that."
And that was that.
I would love to see the photos, and, Roseanne, again, thank you for the compliments.

So good to see you well and looking good.

Just read my message. I really can spell, but as you can see, my typing is pathetic. Perhaps you can understand why I prefer the phone:)
Love you.
Sheila
Thank you for your kind note, my dear friend. Every day I think about e-mailing you, but it seems inadequate. I woul dmuch rather call you, if that;s OK. I asked Carol for your # a couple of months ago, but have misplaced it.(Twice). Would you e-mail it to me?
Love you dearly,
Sheila
Ya know, you certainly are a sweet woman, and it is obvious to me that many folks know that by the responses, or rather, the comments that I see on your page here...
And, I have tried to split apples twice since I last left you a note here, AND, I failed both times! I showed my two young boys (ages 11, and 15), how you used to do it, but the only problem was that the apple didn't split! And when they tried it, they go the same results. The dang apple didn't split, and they both concluded that it was an "impossibility". Oh well, WE know that it's true. Just wish I could do it. Ha! Oh well,

Nice to see you here, too. It was hard to get together for lunch, as I was travelling so much back then. But if you are ever up for it, let me know. I have some time on my hands for a while.
Take care,
Michael
Where and when were you one staff, and in what department? I know your name, so I'm sure I was werever you were at one point or another, unless you were at Gunnison. I was never there. But I heard a lot about it.
