How far is Odessa from Clearwater? I am hoping to come down there for a week during the Christmas holidays. Life with teenagers is busy, isn't it? But I wouldn't change it. Life has taken some twists and turns, but our God is still faithful. Love to you and yours - Liz xxx
I am sorry i did not let you know that Ricky was having trouble. He had broken 3 teeth and i had a hard time finding a dentist who could do the work, He did not want to eat since it hurt to chew. So he ate less and less and less. He was in a lot of pain all the time and so he did not want to do anything and he could not pay attention in school. I think his stomach shrunk and so he ate even less. He lost 10 pounds and he could not afford that much of a weight loss.
We finally found a dentist and got his teeth fixed. He only gained one half a pound in 6 weeks after his teeth were fixed, so we decided to have a feeding tube put in. it was a very hard decision and i really did not want to do that, but we needed him to gain some weight fast.
they told me it would take a long time to gain back the 10 pounds he had lost. It has been a few months and Ricky has gained 17 pounds so far. So we are rejoicing at his gain and the speed at which it happened. Our Doctor says that he will have to keep the tube in for the rest of his life. We will see how that goes, but we are so thankful for his weight gain and all his improvement as a result.
He is really enjoying his life and i had not realized that he had not been smiling or laughing for at least a year, maybe two years. Now he is smiling, laughing and we have our son back.
More soon,
love,
hugs,
Martie Dieppa
How are you all? I have so wanted to go to Florida to see you again. I can't believe we have not been able to get back over there. it was a looooong drive in our van. Especially since we had to stop so many times for Ricky's needs.
Ricky had been doing very bad for a time, but now he is doing great. He has gained weight and he has energy again. We have really gotten past the dangerous part.
Ben has been a joy this summer. He keeps saying he wishes he flunked the 4th grade because 5th is so hard. But it is just the first week.
Jorge is back teaching his Interpreting Class at the University, he loves that.
I am just trying to keep all of them happy.
My Dad turned 80 this year and so i was so happy to get to celebrate that with him.
You have to come back to visit us again too, one of these days. We have not had our camp for a few years, we would like to do it again but it is so hard to take Ricky there, he has lots of seizures with the altitude, trouble sleeping there, and the changes in his schedule.
More soon,
Much Love in Christ,
Martie Dieppa
